For drummers, Steve Gadd is in a league of his own. What first got me interested, and intrigued in drumming, was hearing the Paul Simon song, 50 Ways To Leave Your Lover, on the radio, in the 1970s. That drum groove intro by Steve Gadd is unmistakable. What he does throughout the song is so good. Around 1980, I remember hearing another Paul Simon composition, Late In The Evening, on the radio. More incredible drumming by Steve Gadd. The drum solo was awesome. I was fortunate enough to see Steve Gadd live, when he was performing with James Taylor, in Edmonton, in 2016. Thanks for sharing this video. It was awesome. Hope you have a Merry Christmas! Cheers, Rob! ✌️☃️🎄🎁⛪🥁

Hey Rob I couldn’t agree more! After a couple of weeks of playing through the first 20 pages I noticed that I was much more relaxed on the gig and playing much smoother. There is a magic to these exercises that’s hard to explain.

I love this book!!! I use it almost every day, what I like about it is the focus on phrasing, all of the patterns in this book are usable and will add to you vocabulary. The magic starts to happen when you bring these patterns to the kit!!!! Great stuff!!!!

Yet again you continue to help and educate the drumming community. Not only is Steve a gem, but you are as well. Not only for your consistent and continuous teaching and "eye opening" talent, but you're one hell of a player too! Thank you Rob!!

Rob, Thanks for the tip, did not know this was out, excited to hear it. I’ll never forget when “Aja” came out back in the 70’s and I heard him soloing with Wayne Shorter… I’d never heard a drummer anything like him! And TWO solos on that track, whoa! I’m self taught on the kit, switched to guitar until severe arthritis intervened and now I’m picking up the sticks again, arthritis notwithstanding. Been learning rudiments I never learned before, but that can be a bit of a slog sometimes, so I look to players like you for direction and inspiration as I put these gnarly old hands to work on the practice pad. Don’t even wanna consider breaking out my 1970’s Tama setup until I can move through these exercises and get my hands in shape. Cheers! Truett in Atlanta

I came across your channel searching for resources to aid in teching my 11 year old to play the drums, and not only has it helped that a lot, your videos has also inspired my almost 50 year old ass to pick up the sticks again and start learning some real technique, rather than just banging out the same old manchester/indie grooves I played back in the day. Mind you, those grooves too are gonna be a lot more fun to play from now on, thanks to you, Rob. Drumming is fun again, and learning is fun again, so much that I also started learning blues harmonica, and trying to get better at guitar. It's never too late, right? Thanks for the inspiration, Rob, and a merry christmas to you and your family!

The book itself is a work-of-drummers-workout-book-art: spiral bending, comfortable heavy gauge cream instead of harsh white paper, old school “hand type” notation; I would have expected nothing less from a Steve Gadd anything. Some guys are already using it for dbl feet and say “ left hand/ right foot” combinations. Reading is simple and clear cut. A must have book. Thanks Rob for the shout out!

Started playing drums 4 years ago to help someone record a demo. I'm a quick learner and I already been playing guitar, bass and keys in bands for 30 years.. ( on and off other's drums a bit) but since I've discovered you, it's helping me really add drumming to my arsenal man, thank you!!

Rob,I’ve recently been watching a drummer teaching a groove on RU-vid when, suddenly, I realised why your lessons and advice stand out from the crowd and that is; the majority of drum educators seem to have the need to talk to fast and to not break things down, resulting in confusion and complicating the pupil which leads to frustration and nothing gained. I’ve been following your channel for three months and have benefited BIG TIME as a result of your approach thanks Rob keep up the good work (Gary aged 62 England)

I think this book has the potential to become a standard within a short period of time. The stickings are not complicated, but they are well arranged and have an easy to understand left-to-right- and displacement-approach. I think playing this stuff is rather a groove- exercise then a "burning chop-it-out" kind of a thing. And watching the master perform them is such a gift.

Merry Christmas Rob! I look forward to more great stuff from you in 2022 as I have many of your instructions and tips in my arsenal for practice. This book is fantastic, especially for drummer that have not spent much time exclusively working on rudiments and stickings beyond your normal single/double/paradiddles, etc. I've had the book for a few months now and working through it slowly. I am into the 4th exercise and its amazing how these rudiments can be directly applied to my playing and how much better my hands have become after just working these for awhile. Everyone that wants to bump up your level of playing needs this book. Go get it!

I get this book at the end of the year. I apostrofe myself as a punk drummer, but Steve Gadd was the second biggest influence of mine. The first two warm ups are just brilliant, and these are just the first two excercises! Just warm ups. So I go really slowly with this book, and I also highly recomend it to everybody. Fun and heavy stuffs are inside, and also all of them are pretty cool to play and hear. Thank you for the review!

I never even knew who Steve Gadd, Dave Weckl or Vinnie Colaiuta were until about 5 years ago...via RU-vid of course. I've always loved Tim Alexander, Danny Carey, Stewart Copeland, John Bonham...ect. I'd say that if you wanna be well rounded you gotta get some jazz in your drum diet. I see now why some of these "Rock" drummers sound so much better than others...JAZZ! 11 years ago I decided that I had to go back to the basics. I practiced 6 hrs. a day and surpassed 15000 hours, straight rudiments from all the best books ever put out, plus gigs. I treated myself to Gaddiments for Christmas. Before I started Gaddiments my approach has been to go through an entire book learning one page at a time. start to finish. Once I learned each page , I repeat the exercises until I internalize them. By then your muscle memory takes over. And then your workout becomes the entire book. Start to finish. Eventually how many hours of rudimentary practice I have, stopped being the point and goal. Discipline never an end in its self, it is only a means to an end. I wish you all a wonderful journey 🤓🥁👍🏼
