Psalm 63 sung to the tune "Bays of Harris" by my sister, Clare Ross. The tune was composed by the late Rev. Alex Muir. The song was included on the cassette "Fuaim an Dusgaidh" (The Sound of Revival) which Alex and Clare recorded on cassette in 1985. The pictures are of the Isle of Berneray.
WORDS:
O Dhia, is tu mo Dhia, gu moch
Iarraidh mi thu gach la
Ro-thartmhor a ta m'anam bochd,
An geall ort fein do ghnàth
Tha miann, is ciocras mòr air m' fheoil
An geall ort fein gach am,
An tir ro thioram thartmhoir theith
Gun uisg' air bith bhi ann
Do chumhachd chum gu faicinn fein
's do ghlòir ata ro-chaomh
A reir mar chunncas roimhe thu,
le cliu do d' àros naomh.
Airson gur fearr na beatha fòs
Do chaoimhneas gradhach caoin
Ard mholadh dhuit le iomadh cliu
mo bhile bheir faraon.
Mar sin an cian a bhitheas mi beo
Beannaicheam thu a ghnàth
Is ann ad naomh-ainm togam suas
Mo làmhan riut gach tràth.
'N trà ni mi air mo leabaidh fòs
Do chuimhneachadh le tlachd,
'S an am na faire smuaineach' ort,
Ag dol do 'n oidhche thart'.
Airson gur tu b'fhear coghnaidh leam,
A Thighearn' is a Dhe ;
Bidh aoibhneas agus aiteas orm,
Fo dhùbhar sgail do sge'.

Thanks for the note. I have now updated the notes to include the words for this Psalm and also Ps 85. If you wish to find the other psalms in Gaelic as well, you can Google "Sailm Dhaibhidh ann dan Gaidhealach"

UISTMAN59 - Thank you so much for posting this wonderful psalm singing by your sister, Clare Ross! Unfortunately I don't speak Scottish Gaelic (yet anyway,) but I love this psalm singing so much I sent away for a Scottish Gaelic New Testament and Psalms. It includes English translations. I'm thrilled to learn to sing this as a part of my morning prayer. Can't thank you enough!

This is beautiful. Is the cassette commercially available anywhere? If not, any chance you could put up any more of it? I know you've put up one other, at least. If it's all like this, I'd love to hear more. Thanks for this!

@@UISTMAN59 Thanks, hope you do! And - as delightful as the video is - just the audio would suffice, if that would make it more do-able ... !

Wouldn't it be more traditional to be sung without instrumental accompaniment. And what do the lyrics look like? I'm a languages freak, and don't know how any of the Celtic languages work.

Kepha Hor Yes, the denominations that sing the Gaelic psalms believe in unaccompanied singing in worship. I’ll gladly answer any linguistic queries you have about Gaelic, too.

Doesn't this not just add to the beautiful psalm singing and reverence of the Gaelic language culture and music? The clarsach playing is lovely!!
