Another really good one, a fun mix. The Chimera fast frames are so, so handy. Use them a lot, mostly with The Rag Place rags.

Couldn't find any TRP fabrics for 42" frames. You have a link?

@@GatesRick They’ll make whatever you want. My TRP pieces are 72”x 72”, and that’s the size fast frame I use.

I love the Chimera Panel frames! I have 2 of them in 6x6 with: Ultrabounce, full half and quater grid cloth, single & double scrim. So quick to set up and perfect for indoor scenes and exteriors with not too much wind. Use them every project!

Thanks for everything! I bought not so long ago the F22C and I had to return it... great light but very noise and no fan control option. I end up buying 2 F21C

thanks andrew, you completely saved me with the F22c Bending of the rods, didnt know it was meant to be designed this way, so i had used my falcon eyes frame but it was stretching the corners wayyy too much. thanks so much mate

Thanks Andrew, much appreciated . I've been using my MTpro's a lot hoping they will do a 4ft version soon. I use the Aputure Zoom spotlight on my 60x lights very happy with it.....

I use one or two mini-Cardellini’s to hold the chimera frames for indoor set ups. I carry two 6x6 frames on my flag cart, with diffusers and bounces. They are super handy and ultra lightweight. The kit is cool too!

Thanks Luke, they seem to fit my stands ok but this is handy information for everyone else who seems to have them slipping.

Use a flat metal file to take those edges off. Flat file to dull the edge should work nicely.

Thanks for all you do! As someone who's a travel filmmaker, having the knowledge of lighting and the best products gives me that much more of an edge. Quick question though. As someone who's more run and gun, I'm looking for the best Swiss army knife of lights for use in any situation. Would you recommend going with a series of tube lights to handle most situations in studio and on the go? I was thinking of the nanlite pavotubes 2ft and 4ft and grabbing two of each.
@DaCarnival
@DaCarnival Год назад
I'm not an expert, but until Andrew chimes in - I don't think tube lights are a Swiss army knife, because when you really need output they come up short. One of the newer COB Bowens fixtures with modifiers are much more versatile in my opinion, something in the 300-720w range.
@Itsaknightslife
@Itsaknightslife Год назад
@@DaCarnival Great insight, thanks. Really not replacing daylight or anything. But was thinking of using multiples of them as like a kinoflo style if I needed output, but that's great insight thank you. Probably need to invest in a 300x or 600x at some point anyway.

Wonderful stuff as usual, Andrew. Question about the chimera frame...i own one myself and although it does fit into a standard grip head i find it could use a proper spigot to grip it more tightly. Otherwise when mouthing it horizontally it swivels and the wind can take it for a ride. Any suggestions or modifications to secure it more steadily?

Some views are they use mini Cardellini clamps

@CineInThe6 Год назад
They now make a Spiggot adapter that clamps around the tubing. With a single mount, on say the 4x4 frame size, I find it doesn’t bite strong enough to deal with the weight of the rag if you have it mounted on the bottom of the frame (like you typically would with a floppy or 4x4 diff frame). If you had one on each side I don’t see it being an issue and makes angling larger frames easier than biting it straight with a grip head.
@clizzaudio
@clizzaudio Год назад
@@CineInThe6 thanks! I think the matthews 4x4 kit is more sturdy as it has a welded spigot attached and can be assembled similar to this Chimera one. Two stands sometimes isn't an ideal scenario.
