This week I am joined by Chris Johnson from chrisjohnsonpt.com to analyze my gait on a TrueForm runner and give us a glimpse into the factors he considers for runners.

Love the research you’ve addressed along with the key terms needed to understand the benefits on our runnings strides that this machine can help improve! Thank you!

Spot on. Thinking of buying a curved treadmill but doubtfull conversational pace is possible on that thing 😂

I tried one of these the other day, did 30 min and it felt far more hard work than a traditional treadmill, I came off soaked and felt like I had worked far harder than 45 min on a traditional treadmill. I felt a bit of pulling on my calf's, If your new to these then I found you really have to concentrate as you can start drifting into a high pace just by leaning forward a bit more

Analysis is great and of course can have great value. However, I have learnt over the years that everybody is different and often people run the way that suits their physiology. For example some olympic athletes may be seen to have really bad form, and yet, they are olympic athletes! I have found that sometimes trying to force change in style can cause more issues.

Great talk thank u. With heal strike, at what point does it become a braking affect and slows u down?

I run barefoot on the Trueform all the time and no problems with calves at all.

1.) I'm a zero drop and minimalist footwear runner, and can not heel strike "on purpose." I really don't get how someone can change their gait intentionally..... 2.) I challenge either one of you to show me footage of Kipchoge heel-striking. I've watched numerous RU-vid videos of the elites, and maybe 10% of them heel strike (if that).... post a link as a reply and convince me otherwise...

Thanks for the video! Anyone know how to avoid foot pain? I cannot run for more than a few minutes before my feet start feeling on fire. The one thing I notice in my gait is that my left foot strikes approximately straight, but my right foot strikes more towards my mid body.

Darren Yee I think you should check your shoe type

Any kind of weird pain is most likely caused by biomechanical factors. It is possible that you have a leg discrepancy which can only be alleviated by orthotics.

why not try to build stronger legs, calves and hamstrings? so that you can run without a heelstrike? I will compare to lifting weights with bad form. I could deadlift the same weigth, BUT my back will not be straight, should I go on, or should I stop/reduce the weight? ofc i reduce the weight or stop. should be the same with running. nobody is build for a heelstrike. only after adding a giant heel in the shoes people are able to heelstrike. try jumping from a table and landing on the heel with no shoes, my bet is that you dont do that a second time. I am not a vegan barefoot runner who drives a e-car, but doing some barefoot running just to feel how your BRAIN tells you to run will be benefitcial. IF you can heelstrike with no shoes for hours on end you have a higher paintolerence than me, thats for sure.

definitely an option
