Schuster is a prime example of why they should bring in the same system they have in the nfl, guaranteed money and incentives money and a cut clause. Imagine if schusters contract was $800,000 $400,000/year guaranteed that starts November 1. And the other $400,000 is based on performance incentives, and if they don’t perform they can be cut before November 1, without it going on the salary cap next year. Rugby league is a professional sport played with an amateur attitude and mediocre administrative performance.
Yep, professional sport played , with an almost amateur mindset administration, they act professional and employ professionals but it just aint good enough. More transparency is a start for fans and other stakeholders. It starts from the NRL and it'll trickle down to the clubs then players and even improve juniors.
Totally agree with Gal. How the hell someone signed Schuster for that money is beyond me. Maybe they were listening to Andrew Johns raving on about him every time he did some little fancy play in the game, trying to pump him up as the next big thing. Schuster to me has never been a fully committed player with a high enough work rate, so why would he be worth that much money. Just compare his game to Cherry Evan's game, it is like night and day.
I mean it is not just this bloke it is many of the imports where are the Hancocks the Webkes Moores Lockyers and dozens like them We seem to fixated with big Islanders and forgetting that we have some tough boys in the bush.
In 2 years at the Broncos Seibold turned them into drooling idiots. By the time he left them with the wooden spoon some of the best players in the comp weren't first graders anymore. Some took years to rebound. Others still haven't.
Plenty of lemon players in the past signed on potential for big money and every club has made that mistake with the Tigers being the front runner losing Tedesco, Papi, Moses and Adocar.
I am a Manly fan, I found their biggest on field problem is losing games after they get off to flying start and look like winning game with a good lead then they go to sleep and lose, they were doing it last year when Hasler was coaching, remember game last year when cowboys scored 3 tries in the final 7 minutes of game to just win, game against the dolphins this year was the best game of football in the club's history, they played for full 80 minutes mistake free and totally dominated, every player deserved man of the match Schuster in particular,he had the ball on a string and showed potential to be one of Manly's greatest players ever, I watched the game in total disbelief that they could play that well, they need to focus on consistency and playing for full 80 minutes next season and stop losing games when they establish good lead and go to sleep, easier said than done
Ever since johnathan thurston was let go by the dogs when clubs have a standout youngster the manager plays off their fear of losing him and leverage it against the club to get a pay day based on potential.
Gal has his own opinion for Schuster's contract with Manly but he's a marquee player whether he re-signs with this team or signs with another club he can make himself useful as a #6 whether he's got the ability and charisma to make himself better with his team. 💪💯
Why did they sign Shuster to such a long, expensive contract? Fear, they were worried about the poachers getting him. Players are at a premium and locking them in for years is the only way to guarantee they stay, Tino, David and Payne are recent examples. The poachers have picked the panthers clean, they had a roster to die for and plenty of good young blokes coming through but the poachers pick off a couple every year and are even getting the young blokes before they can debut in the NRL.
I sure hope Shoosh delivers wha he is capable of, keep at ya immense footy skills, play ya plays,an get th total rubbish plays out best ya can,we all make mistakes, next play On
I respect manlys loyalty and jeez he's good when he's fit. But Turbo has troubles with injuries and as much as I enjoy watching him play footy, perhaps Manly should look forward for his replacement
It's ironic that Australia, like the rest of the world, is currently going through a cost of living crisis with high interest rates etc, yet, NRL players seem to be signing the most expensive, inflated contracts at the moment
You're not going to good when youre playing in the back row and you take not 1, not 2 but 0 hit ups in 20 minutes theres something wrong. Back to reserve grade brother
As a long term Manly supporter from NZ I’m sorry but Schuster showed only potential a few years ago. I honestly feel for DCE having to be playing both 6 & 7. Schuster was always day dreaming & mentally was never ever in the game.
Schuster thinks he is good well in one way he is still gets paid 850,000 a season either way and enjoying KFC who are the fools in all of this Manly such is life manly HaHa.
@@pooddly9637spot on…. It’s politics or masculinity… pink undies or bike shorts make a player less of a man? Sure they’re not a good look but nothing to do about toughness
forget Schuster's size, his attitude, everything.....HE HAS DONE LITERALLY NOTHING. Nothing. Zero. He has done nothing in the NRL to warrant that contract. Manly simply got scared of losing him, and panicked.
