Galactica Full VR POV - Alton Towers Resort 

I’m so glad this is finally available to see! As much as many disliked the VR on Galactica, I will always have fond memories of this as it was my first ever encounter of the technology in 2016. Always loved the music on this too!

Never knew the onboard soundtrack was so good!

Holy shit this is phenomenal. It's a damn shame it was removed and I won't get to experience it for real.

This was genuinely my favourite ride in the park with the headsets on. Shame it had such poor maintenance and they had to remove it. RIP.

Imagine this: Alton towers saves this video and puts it in a motion simulator flat ride in forbidden valley...

Rip, a very unpopular opinion, however I really enjoyed the VR

This VR was amazing! I rode it twice with VR. Once in the summer and once at scarefest. I loved it, however the headset slipped off my eyes and i had to hold it on. I prefer it without the VR but it was still amazing.

This is awesome to be able to see again! A shame it isn’t actual 360 footage for use with a personal VR headset but nevertheless it’s cool!

Unpopular opinion but the VR was actually pretty good especially for me as I have a fear of heights so this really helped

Rode in 2016, didn't see the video because the bloody headset was broken! As cool as it is I'm glad it's not a VR coaster still. They should've put the money towards getting Air the original theming it deserved, although I guess that wouldn't have caught the public's attention nearly as much

This ride was my first experience with VR and it blew my mind.

I miss this so so much. Getting a good headset with that amazing IMAscore soundtrack was an amazing experience on an otherwise pretty boring coaster. We greatly miss it

I know people hated it but I really liked the vr, and since it was optional later in its life it meant that if you diddnt like it you could ride without, but if it was to stay I wish they kept the original headsets since they actually worked and stayed on your face unlike the second ones which would stay on until the first drop then fall off

As someone who never got to experience the ride, I'm glad this finally available! Now I wish that USJ would do the same thing for their limited edition XR Rides...

Sucks we won’t get to see it on the ride again, would make such a difference to the ride.

What would be awesome as well is a split screen as I'd love to see this alongside the non-VR POV to match them up, or maybe even an overlay semi transparent so they are merged, or both :) This music sounds so good in the park, especially in the evening with the ride lit up. Edit: this could actually be a really cool idea for the park to do in a flying theatre, could then be longer and bigger too, tagging it onto a coaster loses some of the coaster's environmental thrill and it's too short a time really, so that could work better, good as it is on a coaster.

I was blown away by the VR. I didn't rate the coaster as AIR but the VR made it more exciting...shame it really didn't perform well in the real world but I miss it

I'd love to see a refit of the carriages with onboard audio using this . The soundtrack, everything about it is amazing!

god i would never do that, i’d go on the ride but i’d do it as air, mainly bc i feel really anxious if i’m on something like that and i cant see where i’m going

The one issue I had with the VR is that every time I went to ride it, there was no V-sync on my headseat, meaning there was awful tearing of the video whenever it moved.

I think it would be cool if they kept galatica the same but a retrack with the vr headset and it would be about us fighting the new nemesis monster. I just think it would be cool to see the nemesis monster moving and look real

I know a lot of people dont like the VR but this is my favourite ride at Alton Towers

I found the VR to be quite an amazing experience, but it sadly slowed down the loading and unloading of the trains HUGELY, which made the queues twice as long as they were when it was Air. The ride's capacity was cut in half. As much as I enjoyed the VR experience, they were right to get rid of it. It would probably have been ditched now anyway due to... you know what!

This VR made the ride my favourite in the UK! I wished they could have bring it back even if you used 1 queue line for VR and 1 without (maybe go over the bridge for VR?)

I saw this, I LOVE IT! 😍😍😍😍😍

I went on it around 20 times and only once the audi/video was fully in sync and screen was in focus, but boy it was a good ride. Sadly when it was out of sync/focus or poor audio ir didn't work and the queues were very poor. Amazing idea, but needed another station platform to get a decent throughput.

I rode it for the first time about 4 years ago without VR. Shame I missed it I suppose 😢

I was only 9ish when this came out, i love thrill rides, technology and want to be an astronaut, i was to small and when i eventually got to go on they removed the VR 😢 oh well 🤣 is it coming back its just because it has posters of new *destinations* ? Edit: this is different than the ones i saw like 150+ times lol

I have experienced this once, it's good and unique but made me feel dizzy, I struggled to keep the headset on whilst going upside down and it slowed down train loading, so I'm glad they've gotten rid of it but kept the awesome theming and soundtrack

Did anyone ever upload the Audio Descriptive version? I requested it once when riding and it was quite interesting.

It was a very strange and beautiful Sci fi experience when they had the vr it was cool 🌌

As much as I love the original version of Air. This seemed really cool in a way of rebranding a coster. I like the space theme vr. Shame never got to experience it. There was also the you me at six music that was added to the swarm ride for like a couple of days.

My first ride that I couldn’t speak for 15 minutes after coming off gutted they removed it

I feel like they should rename this back to Air, now that the VR’s gone. I think they only named it Galactica because of the VR, and also, the VR pounches are sill on the trains. Do you think they’ll remove them.

I rode this with vr once and I enjoyed it although my headset did fall off in the fly to lie part. Next time I went, it was removed and I prefer the ride without vr anyway

With the better tech now, more detailed environments and make it less... busy(?) it could be great. Exploding this and that, loud music, just calm it down a little. Make it a more ethereal flight experience in one location, with the sensations from the ride and all this its just overly stimulating.

A lot of the issues with this is that VR makes most people sick. So it was obviously going to get mixed reviews. A lot of people loved how it looked, however it made them feel sick afterwards

i went on galatica today but the vr couldn’t be used because of covid so i pratically got to ride air because it shut down before i had chance to go on it 😂
