In this video I have explained galactose metabolism along with galactosemia condition. Fate of milk carbohydrate lactose into glucose and galactose and galactose metabolism into glucose 1 phosphate is explained. important enzymes like galactokinase and galactose 1 phosphate uridyl transferase ( GALT) enzyme and their defieicny leading to non-classical galactosemia and classical galactosemia, respectively has been explained. All the signes seen in these disorders like bilateral cataract, mental retardation, jaundice and fasting hypoglycemia has been explained.
