@@geraldglass5323 I am mom? Weird response. However you do you man. EDIT: Just so people aren't confused. He went and fixed his post days later out of embarrassment.
If you read unfinished tales I think the character is far more aggressive and power hungry than the one people associate with the LotR character. I give RoP a thumbs down as the writing was atrocious. When it comes to physical description Tolkien described her more physically imposing than demure.
Tolkien's works are being read decades after his death, and people will still be reading them centuries from now. These garbage copycats with his name slapped on them will be remembered by no one.
The RoP Galadriel is a stock 2-dimensional blowup human action figure. There is absolutely nothing Elvish about the character in Amazon’s series. These Elves look, act, and sound just like human beings. Same goes for the Dwarves and Orcs. There is nothing of Middle-Earth to be found anywhere in this series. It’s a story of humans, human social issues, and human contemporary politics set in a world just like our own.
Notice the protagonist is a strong independant angry woman while the antagonist is the bad boy with that touch of hidden goodness? Only she can help him either find redemption or be force to destroy him. It's basically the popular plot of a woman's romance novel with a Tolkein setting used for a backdrop. Amazon trying to pass off woman's smut as Tolkein.
Star Wars and LOTR are OF COURSE not "for" white males. They are for everyone. However the people in charge of these shows fail to understand that 90% of the driving force behind these franchises are..................older white men.....and not staying true to source material and lore is a deal breaker for these people (I am one of them). The complaints overwhlemingly involve writing for both franchises, yet all complaints are labeled racist or misogynist. They are making me stop being a fan of the stuff I have been a massive fan of for decades at this point.
Ppl these days cannot make smth original that is black or whatever. They just have to change the skin of beloved characters to get a movie made. Or simply copy a white character but make him "better" for modern audiences. Lack of imagination. For example, i would not dream of seeing a Black Panther played by a white actor. Or Miles Morales as Spiderman is great, not exactly a copy pasted Peter Parker, he is his own character and i honestly love him. It CAN be done, but writers have 0 skills these days.
Why would I want to watch this not-Tolkien show wearing a Tolkien skin-suit? Expecting loyalty because you've put a certain brand on your product is silly.
I actually love it, they play holier than thou, makes content for millions of dollars, either in pc games or movies! Nobody wants to be lectured to, just wants to be entertained!movie studios are infested with these less than mediocre writers! I cant see Galadriel in seasonn 1!in the books shes tall and brings ease to her sorroundings!this Galadriel, is girl boss extraodinaire!
@@johnbernhardtsen3008 It is beyond the pale how awful this "modern" version of Tolkien's works is. Just more girl boss garbage, it's quite tired by now.
@@maxbrandt6 I thought it was a joke when a yt channel mentions Adar is having a conversation with an orc who doesnt want to go to war, because he would have to leave his Wife and Kid orc!its apparently in ep 3
I’m always amazed that these people think they’re entitled to the time and money of those who they openly show hate and contempt for, while destroying things they love.
It was so good that instinct tells you it shouldn’t be attempted again, which used to be the idea about rehashing older stuff to begin with. But Hollywood is so far down the rabbit hole with remakes etc that it led them here.
It is not lord of the rings, it was not penned by Tolkien. It is just poorly written girl boss fan fiction with more self inserts than a brony convention
@@chrissmith7669 Being under the influence of the ring is different though. Many people were influenced by it, but that doesn't mean they were nutjobs before that.
@@TheOldMan-75 no. Not nut jobs but she was nowhere near the later calm cool noble acting Galadriel; „Even after the merciless assault upon the Teleri and the rape of their ships, though she fought fiercely against Fëanor in defence of her mother’s kin, she did not turn back. Her pride was unwilling to return, a defeated suppliant for pardon; but now she burned with desire to follow Fëanor with her anger to whatever lands he might come, and to thwart him in all ways that she could.“ What I first disliked in RoP was she was rambling on about chasing orcs & Sauron when she was supposed to be furious at Feanor. I suppose that’s because they didn’t buy the rights to that.
Tolkien was not a fantasy writer, he was a scholar of literature and linguistics first, an Oxford professor second and then a writer who expanded on an idea that came to him while grading papers. T.V. cannot rven begin to replicate his depth because they simply lack the intellect and the decades of study he had.
This is why feminists have a problem with Mary, they don’t understand grace and mystery- they want to talk all the time and believe that a woman can be strong without screaming and yelling at everyone- and ultimately they don’t understand Mary and also Galadriel’s greatest strength, she is mother, and we all know how they feel about that word, don’t we?
I want Tolkien not a bad story / writing and acting telling me that they are better that Tolkien because they checked a bunch of boxes and used Tolkien as the background as a bait and switch to get viewers, who though they were getting Tolkien. and once they realized that it wasn't Tolkien they stopped watching it. this is the same with disney's m-she-u and she-wars, neither one can stand on its stories and writing because they are again focused on checking boxes not story or character's. and each of these IP's brag about them being made for the "modern audience" and tell anyone that doesn't like it to go away. then they start insulting and falling on the victim card when the audience mostly men walk away.
yeah, people come in, write new things over the original material and then get mad when people don't like it. Like dude, we came here for Tolkien stuff. not your weird Original Characters.
They've successfully made Sauron a little sympathetic. The key take-away of Season 1? Dude just wanted to be a Smith and date Galadriel. All he wanted. And based off what so many women want (via what books and films and series they devour), Sauron the bad-guy should've made Galadriel drop to her knees to take care of him. (Regardless of whether or not he was responsible in any way for her brother's passing).
It's not Tolkien, it's Lord of the Rings fan fiction. They didn't even bother to get the rights to the Silmarillion so they could adapt the lore properly.
Captain Marvel previously held the title of “most unlikable female main character in existence”; but Guyladriel completely obliterated her on the unlikability index. She’s literally the most unlikable character ever.
I have an easy solution to the problem of all these spoiled, entitled girl bosses in Hollywood... don't watch their garbage. Done. If they don't have any fans, they can't hate their fans. Period.
One by one, the true lore of Middle Earth fell to the power of the Ring. But there were some who resisted. A last alliance of Tolkienites marched against the armies of Morfydd, and on the streaming platform of Amazon Prime Video, they fought for the freedom of Middle-Earth.
I couldn't stand what little I saw of the first season, didn't even know the second season dropped and will not be watching any of it. I've been a fan of Lord of the rings for a very long time, but this completely misses the mark.
It's not just ROP. Just about every show or movie based off of popular set of books or video game, they shit all over the fans that made them popular. The Wheel of Time was butchered way worse. They butchered the Borderlands movie because they refuse to listen to the fans. Henry Cavill left the Witcher for the same reason. I can go on and on.
Most people have already walked away and are not looking back. Even more people than that didn't even bother to watch the first season in the first place.
To be precise, they don't write female characters as men. They write female characters as what they THINK all men are like - which is a caricature of stereotypical cheuvanism.
I don't understand why they spent SO much money for the rights, and then make something that's so UN-Tolkien. They could have just invented their own IP if they didn't want to make something Tolkien. What a colossal waste of money. And the viewers would have enjoyed it so much more if it didn't shit on JRR Tolkien, but was presented as something totally new.
If you read the books, you know Peter Jackson's trilogy isn't as accurate as most ppl on the internet seem to think, which leads me to believe a lot of ppl pretend to have read the books 😄
No Hollywood had no problems with writing none whatsoever but the problem they had was that certain people that were talented at it didn't share their politics and didn't quite match up to the demographics they were going for so they purged their asses out like 10 years ago it happened in comic books first 2013 and about 2015 they purged out every independent thinker that writes screenplays and does concept stories for movies and shows right out, diversity of thought is the only diversity they hate
Maybe she should look within at the people responsible for this pile of smelly dog crap. If they yould have respected the source material, which was ALREADY DEVELOPED BRILLIANTLY by Tolkien, and followed close to it, the show would have been OK. What is wrong with these women "actresses"?
This actress has (-)negative charisma. She looks like that mean divorced bitter teacher that takes her anger out on the students, we all hated in highschool.
Thank you for finally pointing out the ridiculous casting for Rings of power. Tolkien didn't have any black elves or dwarves in his body of work. The casting is just so off putting with it's ridiculous diversity casting and ruined the shows. It is bad writing. Bezos is clearly not caring whether or not Amazon produces a decent product. Too bad he had the 250 million to buy the rights from the Tolkien family. Bad writing, bad acting, bad casting, the whole thing stinks.
Don’t blame the fans, blame the writers and Showrunners. You did the best you could with what you were presented much like blaming the customer for a bad meal when you delivered exactly what the cook and the management produced, not your fault.
They've ruined Tolkien's legacy, they've ruined the characters. They deserve to fail. However no matter what they do, God is in control and these ungodly people will reap what they've sown.
It’s from female LOTR fans too. She’s talking about the female NPC new fans that somehow enjoy that trash show. It’s so BORING and every minute I’ve watched just seems OFF.
Im sorry. I dont know to say this but....Im disabled. Im 30 blind. If an actor is 30 or older or looks 30 or older....i cant see them or....give any kind of crap about them. So, since she took the job on this awful show. I can just have me a good laugh about this shid show.
The show is absolute crap. The problem isn’t hating the fans of the show, it’s hating the fans of Tolkien. The Tolkien fans know more about the lore and characters of middle earth than the writers do of dumpster fire. Now I have a friend who knew nothing about LOTR or middle earth and thought season one of the sh*t show wasn’t bad. But even she is saying season 2 is bad and no longer wants to watch it. I’ve been saying for awhile now, if you were to redo Roots today would you make the slave owners black and the slaves white? Would you make Asians the slave traders? Before attacking your targeted audience, you should KNOW who your audience is and write a story to that group. If you want to have a story that is diverse, then come up with a new story where a diverse group of people fit the narrative. Look at Star Trek in the 60’s,they wrote and hired actors with the main idea of diversity.
Simon Tolkien, the little money grabber said he wanted Sauron to mimic Walter White's arc in breaking bad. The writers said that was 🤬ing stupid and got fired. Amazon then hired those two muppets.
Indifference is our power brother/sister/anything in between. I will never see this, and I think the Galadriel lady is pretty. But that won't be enough. Iwo t see Acolyte either, but am looking forward to Madame Web, just for Dakota Johnson 🙃
Morfydd Clark didn't have to look so rough. She could have looked at least slightly pretty if she had taken care of herself and cultivated whatever wisps of femininity she could muster up.
They admitted that season two had already been written and almost completely filmed before the release of season one. They were banking on this being a hit so hard that they didn’t even have time to take comments into consideration. Which is why it’s so disgusting that they released headlined articles talking about how they heard the fans and things will be different in the second season. Lmao, how? It was already made exactly like the first season, because you thought everyone would love it! 😂😂😂
I don't blame her. It really was unfortunate to see 'fans' who should know better attacking the actress rather than those who actually deserved it, i.e. the writers. Who, I grant, made such a complete FUBAR of this series they should be fed en masse to Ungoliant. But actors play the roles and speak the lines that are written. They can't all be expected to have a Henry Cavill-like respect for the source material and walk away even if their contract allows it.
Well imagine your manager comes up to you during quarterly reviews and tells you that you screwed up again this quarter and next quarter if you don't improve you are going to be put on a performance improvement plan. That is Galadriel actress right now, she's the screw up, she can't satisfy the fans.
To be fair, this is nothing new. Actors and actresses have always hated fans since the days of silent films. But the difference now is that with today’s technology, everything they say is instantly broadcast. It’s not like the days of before where they had some control over reporters working for newspapers and television news agencies. And from what I’ve seen from the casts of Rings of Power, The Acolyte, and the new Snow White movie, the people acting don’t realize it.
I actually think she's a decent actress, and I can understand some of the male fans being complete douchebags. Tolkien had some pretty strong female characters, although not many. The problem is the writing though and who hired them. The actors know this show and writing is tanking their careers and I'm sure are pissed.
at this point of time being a man and hated is standard but guess what we don't care we man up more and move forward and the activists and pseudofeminists can't keep up... stay strong everyone
MORE-VITH VITH to rhyme with WITH Hope that helps! She’s a clown though. Happy people have work, but again with attacking the fans?! People just needs to stop it as without fans, there is no audience! Don’t “Acolyte” your show.
LoTR was intended as a mythology that would fit in the British Isles. Noone criticises similar original historical fantasy stories made in china or Japan. We don't watch Princess Mononoke and become obsessed with the absence of representation of black people. Etc
Awww.... GYUladriel is saaaad.... Maybe her Amazon payslip isn´t fat enough? The arrogance of these people, messing around and disrespecting source material such as the Lord of the rings....and expecting that nothing will happen, expecting that audiences around the world just eat their low quality production like a Mcburguer with fries... and then just go about our day. Three letters for you: L O L
If you want to present a strong female boss, then invent one from scratch. Like did DC Comics did with Wonder Woman. Success ! But no, they had to change and alter a franchise that they did not respect. Fail !
Morfydd a Cymraeg (Welsh) name, therefore the ‘f’ will sound like an English ‘v’ and the ‘dd’ will sound like English ‘th’. Rings of Power is absolute rubbish; I tried to give it a chance but quit season 1 after a few episodes. I hope season 2 is an even more epic failure than season 1.
