You can't wear them in the park because there are rules at Disney. Being mistaken for a costumed character is a BIG DEAL. That is why they only allow wearing costumes for MNSSHP time of year.

We Tatooine natives find this alternately confusing or hilarious and are very careful to never let the buyers know that the stuff is cheap as dirt back home.😂😉 Han has a jacket made of womp leather and thinks it's just so cool. Dante P I think the price of the Jedi tunics are ok but the robes are extremely overpriced. They look like very light material and if you had the skills I’m more than sure you could make one of your own.

Well if you google disnsy shoppers there are ppl who go to the park and buy things like personal shoppers. Ive never done it so I cant speak to it. But they would probably do it for you.

@@Cadetsc i’ve seen loads of people walking around the park in Jedi robes. Security is not looking for illegal robes, they’re looking for dangerous stuff and to make the guests feel protected.

They dont want guests mistaking other guests as costumed employees...

They've had many many issues with guests posing as characters and that's why they dont want you dressing up. Some people can ruin it for all of us. But that's how the world is now.

@@txdraw Yeah but cast members don't dress as Jedi, and you aren't dressed as a particular character. and cast members also where name tags. This could easily be solved by selling or giving away a themed button/pin that says "not a cast member" that must be visible at all times if you wanted to dress up.

Costume in Galaxys edge the problem would be you wouldn’t be able to wear it till you got into Galaxys edge as you have to walk through the rest of the park to get there. So everyone would be clogging up the bathroom changing into costumes. So it’s not really practical. That’s maybe part of the reason they didn’t accept costumes for Galaxys edge?

They are worried that a guest will be confused for a cast member/ walk around character. Seeing as SW fans are particularly fickle and childish, imagine if your little boy was so excited to meet a SW character and some unkept asocial mess ruined that experience for them by acting like a dink but in perfect cosplay. That is why. I don't agree with it either.

Its also because its really easy to take a kid if you dressed as a character they like, its also because people could harass a guest for pictures etc. Or the other way around the guest harass people.

I looked into it also, and I tried to wear like a sith costume and they said I couldn't, mainly because they don't want guests to think I work there and if they did they worry about me representing them bad.

Well, there is one MAJOR thing that makes every OT fan tear up with joy. The Millennium Falcon right there, tangible, huge, 1:1 scale. It’s incredible, and as OT fans ourselves, this absolutely hits home.

What you generally are paying for is the production cost of boots, gloves, hats. That forming or stiching is an art and I agree it costs. On top of that is branding, which is just the tag. Disney parks are notorious for markup even compared to other amusment parks. I would not buy a PLEATHER belt for $60. The buckle and decorative clasp probably cost less than $10 and the strap $3. And $7 for the SW tag and $40 bc you bought it at a tourist trap. A disney outfit is 3 pieces, belt, and boots. At the prices they charge this would easily come to $600 per outfit. And you still got something generic off the rack. If you took $300 to an average seamstress you could get a personally tailored piece with customized elements (color, fabric, piping, buttons, etc). And it would drape right when you move. You would be happier with the finished product and it will last. Star wars clothes are really an amalgam of identifiable clothes from several cultures, so its not something they can copyright. Although I can see them trying to. My point is it would be easy to create patterns. If you just love disney and want to support them, go for it. Im not trying to hurt anyone's feelings or take away thier joy. But you buy these clothes at the park and you cant even wear them. Thats just too bad ...💔😭

I think there is a large segment of the population that would rather wear pleather than kill animals to get real leather, and Disney will cater to that.
