My humble suggestion: When making a Top 10 list, create some type of graphic to distinguish which number you are on. I found this video helpful, but it was hard to go back and check through 20+ minutes to find what I needed. If I see you are on #1, and it is not what I need, it is much easier to skip to #2. Thanks.
Just got mine a few weeks ago and I love it. I've wanted a note for ages but couldn't afford it until now. Never had an iPhone and never wanted one. This is the phone for me.
Exactly. I usually buy a screen protector and case before I even get the phone. Last time my case came 2 days after I got my Note 8 so I literally kept the phone in the box until the phone case came.
The responsiveness on the Note 9 is incredibly impressive. I just got my 512GB version and it’s exceeded my expectations in every way. Remember though, the 512GB version has 8GB of RAM so I’m not sure how the 128GB version does compared to this one.
@Droid Life FYI, if you didn't know, they have updated Bixby settings... There is now a feature you can choose "double press (the Bixby Key) to open Bixby. 😁 (I paused the video at 13:56 & I did not see that option on the phone screen.)
@@Mr102185 I have zero regrets switching. Loving the Note 9. Right now it doesn't seem as user friendly but that will change once I actually get use to the phone.
@@irrayplaceable1858 Yeah its quite easy. Beware though. After two months I wish I never made the switch. After experincing both phones I can say I enjoyed the simplistic style of IOS more the Andriod. Iphone = social media phone, Samsung = work phone.
Oh my you just changed my life was having a hard time switching to having the back button on the right, many thanks for the vid just that was worth a half hour of my life.
+1 for the apps edge. Little to no battery diminishment and if one so desires, one can set it up so there is literally NOTHING on their desktop. Which is kinda cool.
Interesting that it could prevent you have having anything on the home screen. Never thought to use it that way. I’ve always disabled it. Might try it once i get mine this coming week.
Here's my 5 settings. 1. Download Nova Launcher 2. Turn down transition effects in developer options 3. Load up the game launcher app 4. Download BK Manager app and disable all bloatware, including some of Samsung's redundant apps. 5. Disable sensor gestures you will not use. Battery savings galore. Disable always on display. Adds 1.5 to 2 hours of battery.
@@jaredpnk It is a app that lets you disable any app on the phone regardless of system security. Meaning that every Samsung or Google system service or app and any bloatware put on by the likes of AT&T and Verizon can be disabled. This is similar to using ADB via a windows or Linix computer except you don't have to connect to a computer and it works on the fly. No root necessary. I've been using it for almost a year now and it had keep my S8+ with around 1 to 1.5gigs of free RAM consistently. You probably don't need it with 6gigs on the Note 9 but knowing how many features Samsung packs in, I would be surprised.
@@FatPeanutsFat Looks like it has been taken off the Play store since I installed. It's still on my device. Look around on the web for the APK. This one was made by wakasoftware.com. I also use to use Package Disabler Pro by police developer. It looks like it is still in the play store but does require hooking up to a computer now and giving it device owner permissions to work.
This guy is clear, precise, and knowledgeable about the Samsung phones. I like that his video is not shaking or moving all over and not following his topic. Interesting enough for me and not to much personal share. I am trying to learn the phone and not hear his war stories. Thanks for a great thought out video on the Galaxy Note 9 cell phone. This is a keeper.
You should definetely download smart switch on your previous phone and new phone. It helps out a lot and you can transfer all of your apps and data and basically everything through that app
Been using iPhone my whole life. Went from a 7 plus to this Note 9 and I don't regret it. Such a bad ass phone, and so much more to do than you can on iOS.
TheCASEYLEEHUTCH same here been on the 7 plus for 2 years now. Before that I had the note 5 which was my favorite phone ever.Just ordered the note 9 , can't wait to go back to the note.
@@DoritosResidue Battery life is good. I have a note 9 and you can play it for like 8 hours before it reaches 10%. Battery life was never really good on Samsung devices but its not bad
Omae wa mou shindeiru exactly battery life on Samsungs have not been good. 8 hours should be fine as I'm a heavy user, my7 plus lasts about 8 hours with my usage And I'm satisfied with that.
Thank you for such a wonderful and detailed tutorial! As a partially sighted guy I appreciate your verbal guidance around this wonderful device! The note9 is Simply the Best smartphone I've owned thus far & you are personally responsible for helping make this device (which is currently my only means as communication, entertainment & connection to support services after a fire caused asbestos to be released and resulting in the loss of every possession I owned. This phone was saturated from the sprinkler & I stuck it in rice to dry it. Haven't had trouble since which is a good thing because when I ordered the phone from Shop blSamsung app which had glitches... handset for texting with not available because it disappears at checkout and Samsung refuse to apply it and took seven months with multiple hours of e-commerce and phone Communications just to honor the promotional add-ons. I'll never order directly from Samsung again although I really love my Galaxy's!
All I can say is you do a very good review it teaches people a lot . your videos are really good, job well done, Samsung is making a better skin than stock Google it seems to be with the extra functionality...
Owen Gee I didn't really notice it, can you please give timestamps? The only delay I've noticed is when he goes to security settings and puts the unlock sequence
Other journalists and reviewers have mentioned this. It'll probably just be little performance improvements. It's kind of a trend nowadays for day one updates to release when the products release
wow this made me actually want to look through all my settings to set up my phone which i never do??? and i've had a samsung since the first s phone wow
Great video. I did have a few questions. Firstly, I would like to know how to get rid of bixby all together. The second thing is I was wondering if there is an app that I can use to get rid of any bloatware that my phone company puts on my phone that I will never use. Thank you.
iPhones are wayyy too overrated, I always thought so .... I've been a samsung fan since they came out..... I just brought this phone and I have to say this is the best phone I've ever had... ever! I recommend it to anyone 😁
I don't know if anyone has commented about this, but if you have a Note 9, and struggle with accidental taps with opening bixby. You can set it in the settings so that the button needs to be tapped twice, which at least for me minimizes the risk of it opening when I do not want it to. So if you go to the settings through the bixby button, you'll find "bixby key" tap on this and it'll give you the option to tap the bixby key once or twice to open.
Switching from iOS and do not regret it iPhones seem like they are stuck in the past. Last android device I used was five years ago and at the time I think android was not worth it because there were many many many bugs and was not fluid. But times have changed. Android you get fluidity and customizability and for iPhones only get fluidity In terms of functionality both phones provide pretty much all of the functions that the vast vast majority of people need. Also as a programmer I hate the fact that Apple products are closed off and many many respects.
I'm switching also just ordered the cloud silver. 2 years with the iPhone 7 plus and I'm completely bored. I had the note 5 before that and realized how much more I like the note series.
@Username 1991 u know, I went from note 5 to the iPhone 7 plus thinking ios would be less buggy. In my experience it's not. They are at the same level. So I'm happy to go back to the note series. Either way it's only note 9 and iphone that matter to me. I can be happy with any one of those devices only.
I've been looking at videos to ease the "what do these buttons do" time frame lol. So yeah, this is definitely a go to for me when I get my Note 9 tomorrow. I mean I have had Samsung in the past , but there's always different things to learn when it comes to new phones , so thanks!
I love the edge panel for the tools, and especially for contacts really quick always at your fingertip nothing quicker.. I have the S7 Edge upgrading to the Galaxy Note 9 ;)
There's a Bixby remapping app on the Play Store. Just get that and you can remap a single press to launch Google Assistant or disable it entirely. You must root your phone to remap double presses or long presses though. I don't mind those though, since those are unlikely to happen unintentionally.
I bought the Galaxy S10+ on April 30 from Samsung got it on May .6th and love it.so I sold my Apple Series 4 watch and am sell my Apple iPhone 8+ Product Red and kisses my 10 years with Apple good bye.
Where have U been all my 'Tech Not Savvy' life!...Luv the Tips; Options R explained w simplicity. I have Sam Note 9. Quite a Bit to take on. U R appreciated
I just want to be able to re-map the button to something else that is useful. The most popular idea is a "ringer on/ringer off" type of thing. What you think?
You can actually disable the bixby button.... By taking it out. Yup, it works. If you ever feel like using it again just pop it back in and it will start working. You can do that with all the other side buttons aswell.
Going from a Pixel 2 XL to a Note 9 next week. There's a few good tips here for folks not privy to the "Samsung Experience" and how to turn it off. LOL
I purchased an Otterbox Defender Pro Case for my Note 9 and I am happy with the case. The holster which clips on to your belt (and can be used as a desktop holding device) and holds the phone to your belt broke when the belt clasp spring loaded device broke within minutes of use. That is ok as I put my phone inside of a Military/Construction Grade Horizontal Entry phone bag which is looped to my belt. Otterbox belt holsters are prone to failure but the case itself is what I was after.
Been with Samsung watches since the first model and upgraded with each generation. Dropping MST now is a big mistake as it was a major competitive advantage and something I used every day. I already have the new model on order but am reconsidering and will wait for the next version.
Dude, are you on freaking SPEED? This is a tutorial. There are people like me who might need for you to move at a human pace, not faster than the speed of light.
How do you switch back and forth between selfy cam and outward cam? And where are pics/videos stored, and how do you delete them or upload to a desktop, either through a wireless router or the 5G??
1.download fortnite launcher 2. Download fortnite 3.login 4.play a match 5.play another match 6.play one more match 7.get galaxy skin 8.flex on friends 9.flex on the popular kids at school 10.Turn off phone
LimaNovember84 it a launcher that allows you to put a custom skin on the OS. I found that on Samsung their TouchWiz skin will bog the phone down over time. So I highly recommend using nova launcher if you are gonna get a Samsung. My phone is so quick and snappy. I also highly recommend getting a Samsung over the other android phones
TheGeekSoup I have a note 8 which has 6gb of ram and touch wiz was slowing down my phone so bad. I was gonna bring it in under warranty but I remembered nova launcher. It's a way better alternative
Great video man! Thank you!! Two questions: How do I add voice recorder to S pen functions? & How do I stop the content of my notifications show on the notification screen while unlocked?
Great video, except no one has one, so shit. I pre-ordered a Note 9, but the only thing i can't f'ing stand is curved screens, makes the screen look less wide.
Yes It's Me Its more immersive believe me Recently i went to a store which have all devices available I was so amazed to use Note 8 in comparison to iphone x and pixel 2xl Design is simply beautiful and it put my iphone 7 plus design to shame I will be going for Note 9 as well as it checks everything i need Camera Storage Ram Battery Display Design Feature of s pen Fast charging Wireless charging Increased LTE speed and strong network reception I will give my presentations using that S pen😄 Cant wait
This video is useless, he hasn't really tried the phone's new features yet, he even try to avoid them. The only new thing I learned was 25:00(themes) since it's new to me and mostly ignored. I suggest adding time stamps with the "10 things" in the description.
Thank you for the your videos on the Samsung galaxy note nine. They are some of the best videos that I have found on youtube. I am a senior citizen and its very hard learning how to work or set anything on these new Android phones. I had a very old phone that did not do all of this. Your videos have been so easy and simple to understand that I have been able to set up my phone and learn how to change a lot of the settings with no ones help. You also mentioned junk apps in your video that you removed soon as you got the phone. That is another big problem that I have I can not tell the good apps that I need to run the phone and the junk apps or bloatware that I do not need or can remove with out hurting my phone. Could use please make a video about how to know what apps are bloatware and how to remove them off of the Samsung galaxy note nine. Again thank you for the great video
I must agree since they will crush any completion next year. Go watch the video why Samsung let Huawei win and you will know. Probably the new phones will be foldable like books. It may be the last or maybe preceded.
This was a basic video. Was this meant for beginners and the elderly who just bought a Samsung phone for the first time? Most features presented here have been around in all Galaxy phones, and you mostly covered just the basic of the basics. I expected insightful tips on the exclusive Note 9 features and commentary on its performance, some of which you only mentioned briefly and moved on to another basic setting. I mean, you don't even use the Edge panel. Do you even use the S Pen? Are you an iPhone person pretending to be a Note person? 🤔 Hmm.
Jared Pink Are you kidding me?? Nope, I expected 10 helpful tips on the Note 9. What's the point of showing 10 basic set up things on any average phone?! Is this for real? You're defending mediocrity? Sigh, such a waste of time. Pointless.
Dirt Nassty Sorry if you're butt hurt or can't take criticism, but if something is bad, then it's bad. You don't have to defend it just because you're a fan or sympathize with them. This was a bad job. I'm not going to sugarcoat things just to please you. You sound like an underachiever in life, who doesn't aim high, doesn't expect better from yourself or others, and doesn't care about improving. If you don't like hearing harsh remarks and expect a pat on the head for a job poorly done, you're the spoiled one.
This was so helpful as I just upgraded to a Note 9 from a Note 4. One question: I started getting ads after my screen locks. I think it started when I was playing with the S pen. How doI make them go away?
Hey guys. Please confirm: turning off Bixby isn't possible? On my N8, I am REQUIRED to set up Bixby initially and then go to three dots --> settings and then dig around (I have turned it off and don't want to go back through turning it on and then back off again). Please confirm this method doesn't work?
I would recommend using the Bixby Remapper app (play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jamworks.bxactions ), going to advanced features, and following the steps to disable Bixby via ADB. This allows you to pretty much eliminate all the lag that you get when reassigning the bixby button to launch Assistant, and it will work from the lock screen, etc. I switched over from a Pixel 2XL, and not having the "Squeeze for assistant" feature was driving me crazy, as it was so quick and worked every time. Setting my phone up this way pretty much made it my perfect phone! Actually makes me glad Samsung out the button there, so we could use it for Assistant. XD
Is it normal that it makes a clicking noise when you press the power button? not when you first turn it on but when you want the screen to sleep/wake? and also when you fingerprint unlock? I dont remember it doing that for my last note, which was the note 5
Very helpful overview for a guy making the jump from a Galaxy S5 to this phone. A "Tiips and Tricks" would have been too much, too soon. This video allows the viewer to "get the lay of the land" with the Note 9 phone and its considerable features set. Thanks!
