The problem with "new content" is that it's nothing more than a rehash of old content without fixing any of the bugs.

I really love the movie Galaxy Quest, that being said, i dont think it has a place in star trek fleet command, and if they really was forced to breath life into Fleet command and needed to do a crossover to do it, i would rather seen them do a crossover with The Orville instead.

There is so much more they could have done with Star Trek. Like actual Star Trek movies. Revisiting old arcs and content and updating it. Straight story arcs with canon material where players could play catch up and earn materials...literally anything.

My big problem with scopely lately has been idea vs implementation of ideas. Like I think some of the things they've come up with have been good ideas, but then the money men get involved and the implementation ends up not quite nailing it. The success of this will entirely ride on the implementation of the idea.

I love Galaxy Quest. But this just seems weird to me. Did they run out of Star Trek stories? The IP has been around for over 50 years and they essentially have free reign to do what they want in this game now. So why not slow down and give us what they promised QUALITY OVER QUANTITY. I can't see this as anything other than massive increase in quantity, despite how fun it might be. Also, I dig the My Hero Academia hat.

There are ships and content that have not be introduced yet and we are adding what amounts to be a spoof. Scopely only cares about that dollar. We have been asking for ways to spend or exchange unused loot from previous cycles and battle passes and nothing has happened. My inventory is filled with stuff from 5 years ago that I can't use and have no idea what we received it.

Still no clear path to any of the 1980s movies (Spock Trilogy). Ridiculous to prioritize Galaxy Quest over other POPULAR parts of the actual Star Trek IP.

Every month my question is what existing content have they made easier or eliminated? Do the math - adding new loops every month with no attention to existing loops has led us into the morass of content we have in the game today.

The discussion we had in the alliance chat today was this. The game is more fun when it comes down to skill grinding and strategy for the slbs or sms or albs then how high of a credit limit you have on your credit card. When most Events only won by a credit card is a turn off for most players.

Loved the film, but that's not the question. I'm not keen on mirror stuff and as such haven't invested any time in it. I have more than enough to do with what we've already got and any extra content will only add to that. I haven't really gotten into xindi or gorn and have yet to acquire the NX ship. More is not better, it's just more and I can see even more load just breaking the back of many that will leave the game.

This feels like a breaking point. I like the movie, loved Orville and wish there were more, was a big Dr Who fan as a kid but I chose to play this game because it was Star Trek, not those other IPs. My screen time is down 70% or so this year and I don't see it getting better unfortunately. Love your content thought Rev! Keep up the great work!

Agree with the benefits part. If its just like "any" other update which follows the trope of "new officers, new ship, new loop", then it doesn''t add any value and won't make me lift my spending ban. If its used and integrated in a clever way and finally adds more QOL (Chests and Refinery, cough cough cough), i would perceive it as a detriment.

I just heard a reliable leak from Scopely that after 3 arcs of Galaxy Quest they are going to add "Spaceballs". Market synergy with the very confusing release of "Spaceballs II" - 30 years after the original debuted. For only $900 you can unlock the Dark Helmet's Spaceball One ship. The Eagle 5 space Winnebago has a FTP path though. No word on whether there will be a Tim Russ officer with a giant afro comb.

How about an arc covering some of the Star Trek dark spots 1st? An arc based on the Klingon Tribble war would be awesome!

To all those hoping this means potential Oreville crossover in the future keep in mind FOX owns the Oreville IP, and Disney owns FOX. I do not see Disney licensing that content to Scopely for STFC anytime soon, and if they do it will be at a price where packs for that arc will end up be $999.99 instead of $99.99 to cover the insane licensing fee Disney will want. Either way any parody content really has no place in the game as this is a Star Trek game, not just a general space stuff where we can mix IPs game.

I’m camping at 39 right now trying to finish up a lot before I progress. At this point they’ve added so much 40+content it feels like starting over and it’s a bit daunting. I agree with what you said about needing to fix the economy so it can be easier to progress as fast as they seem to want us to.

My concern is why GQ when there is still so much more star trek content available (old and new) to add to the game? I think your point is spot on “does it improve the game”? And if the answer to that is yes, i can be ok with GQ going into the game. But we’ll see….

Not on discord but wanted to ask if can ask Scopely what they stopped allowing the autogrinding to complete the hostile daily. I used to set my monavee out in 58 space and it would complete my hostile daily. Now, for the last couple days it doesn't register anymore. Why does Scopely always find ways to make the game more time consuming and frustrating?

GalaxyQuest is better Star Trek than the majority of new Star Trek. I wouldn’t have asked for it, but it’s something that fans can easily embrace. The important part is that they finally get around to actually doing quality over quantity, instead of the empty promises and straight up lies we’ve gotten from Eco, Bek and Scopely this year. The grinds, time and money requirements of the 2024 content are the exact opposites of what players asked for. THAT is the core problem. Hearing the player feedback and then poorly churning out new packs that have no notable qualities to them and don’t substantively address the player concerns.

Problem I have been recently (on PC) is after upgrading some of my officers and going back to game play, the list of officers stays on the screen and the game 'tries' to play in the background. Wherever I click, I going into the office screen instead of opening that station or ship screen. I have to exit the program and then go back in for the screen to display properly. Often I would have to close the app from the taskbar in order to restart the game. As far and the addition of Galaxy Quest, I do not see how this would blend in well in the established Trek Universe that the game has created. I recently upgraded to L39 and am looking at a good 6 months over properly leveling everything up in order to get to 40, so this is just another aspect of the game that does not affect me now.

Just fix the dang lag! Everything I do has lag. I have a gigabit fios connection, and i have horrendous lag. I click on anything and i get scanning.

I do like Galaxy Quest as well. It was my first Sci Fi Film ever. But… I’m here for STAR TREK. The Star Trek feeling. The Star Trek hope. The Star Trek experience and also some dark parts of it. And yes there’s still no original Enterprise A for example, which I grew up with. There’s still no Miranda Class or Excelsior Class starships. Iconic ships that give us the Star Trek feeling. They could make lighter Arcs where you (just an idea) play episodes from Star Trek shows or Star Trek films, that give us the loot and mats and rss we need to level up, while they fix issues and bugs that have been there for YEARS!!! Just take a look at Star Trek Online. There’s sooooo many missions and ideas they come up with. And so many things already in the 2400+ year and yet it feels and acts like Star Trek. And you can do it all for free!!! And if you buy something the packs ain’t swallowing your entire salary. I play Star Trek online as well, but on my console. I appreciate STFC being available on iPhone since I’m mostly out of the house. They get it done, why can’t STFC if they receive billions? $$$ Well let’s see. I’m open to new content. I hope they get it implemented nicely. 🖖🏻

Prodigy would be a great addition to the game. As for Galaxy Quest.... I'm tentatively interested. It will all come down to how they implement it.

I still don't have the NX-01, can't kill a single silent, can barely kill a gorn. There is no way adding anything at this point will improve a game that is poorly built and maintained by Scopely

server 89 ops 36. the live stream yesterday was kind of a shitshow. literally nobody was asking for Galaxy Quest content to be added to the game and they were announcing it like "hey check out what we're doing!!" I watched the entire thing and I think I could count on one hand the number of positive comments in the chat. they also mentioned that all future content is going to be G4, ops 40+. Rev you're saying it yourself, the average player isn't anywhere near that. and on top of that they had an entire discussion on why camping at any level is bad. I think they call this "saying the quiet part out loud". you don't have to be "ready" to go, just spend your money and level up right now. I saw an interesting news article yesterday that said Google is overhauling the Play Store to get rid of, among other things, apps that crash frequently. and I can't think of an app on my phone that crashes more frequently than STFC. maybe the prospect of getting delisted from the Play Store is the push Scopely needs to finally pump the brakes on the money train and actually address some of the bugs.

How long till we get the Orville?

With so much star trek content available they decide to use a spoof of a star trek, galaxy quest as a film was OK but it was played as a show in the film as well 😴. They need to work on using the films as starting points like start from the wrath of Khan then make it a 3 arc run with the 3rd one of it going beyond what is shown in the film and that way the can renew old content as at the moment I'm barely bothering to do my dailies and the BP event and have maybe 50k event store loot as I'm so disengaged with all the new content of late.

With all the additions to the game via specialty ships at 40+. They need to keep adding sources for rare mats. That is still the bottle neck for me to progress

Next will be Epic General O'Neill next to Thor (Either the Marvel one or the stargate one) and Dean Winchester flying on the UNSC Infinity. This is so fricking silly. This is a Star Trek game; let's use the VAST possibilities afforded to us in the Trek universe before we just start jamming random IPs together. Frankly I don't care what the mechanics might look like. If it's not Trek, then leave it the heck out of my Trek game. End. Of. Rant.

There is a wealth of characters and stories with Star Trek. Galaxy Quest had no place in a Star Trek game. I’ve been playing this game due to being a fan of Star Trek. Guess I’ll be taking a break when this starts up.

I've been playing for about 5 years. I'm only level 43 because I've followed your advice. Every arc I find that I play less and less. I can't remember the last time something original or actually interesting/challenging was added. I will likely not be playing this game at all after a few more lackluster arcs. I haven't spent any money in the last three arcs. I do not like this Galaxy Quest crossover.

I took a brake when voyager came out and last week I decided to play again, but as a 45 I am now way under powered and dont have things like ioslitic damage or any of the new crews or ships, ect. I am locked out of lots of things with no clear path, with so much to catch up on no one has been able to give me much advice. More content is not more better.

New content like this should be for all plays 1 to 70 since this is not true Star Trek IPO.

Not upset about it coming in, but they need to stop adding content and fix the damn bugs ! ! ! They also need to address things like daily payouts that were set for beginning players and have not been adjusted since the start of the game. I watched the live feed and most of the comments were along these lines, fix what you have, before adding more!

I am lvl 38 working to lvl 39 soon. I like Galexy Quest as one off movie . As far as adding to the stfc game I'm not sure it fits. There is plenty of Star Trek content to add to the game .

Unpopular Opinion: I think a GQ arc could be a blast!

If they want people to be Ops 40+ .... then it needs to be easier to get evrything that is 39= The amrount of event currancy could be what breaks me and causes me to walk away ... the terrible PVP events was the lasat thing that nearly did.

If it was Starship fleet command, fine. This is Trek and should stay Trek. I could see a similar game working with Firefly, Trek, Wars and Gate… but Trek should be for Trek. I could give this a pass if it happened during April Fools… heck, that’d be hilarious - especially if Boimler screwed up the Universe gates or something… but as a regular part of STFC, nah. I’ll still play, but I don’t like the direction.

I adore GQ. I don’t really want it in the game, at its core it’s a Star Trek game and this dilutes that. Maybe I’m just overly rigid in my thinking. And yes, whole pile of things from actual Trek we seem to have skipped in favour of what seems like rage-bait.

There is so much that is happening in STFC as far as farming, currencies, etc. There is so much in the game now that needs to be fixed and updates to older content. Examples; bug fixes, alliance improvements and updates, officer farming and revamping of officer content.

I'll reserve judgment until it's released. I don't inherently hate the idea of GQ being added. But the "release arc" should be nothing but fixes to existing mechanics/features. The concept of game *balance* is clearly foreign to whoever is calling the shots these days, and that's no good for the player experience OR the lifespan of the game. Fix bugs. Balance existing assets (ships, officers). Apply new mechanics to EXISTING assets, rather than only new releases. This is the biggest source of power creep in the game. Reduce grind. Please.

I haven’t found a compelling reason to engage with the Gorn or Mirror content so chalk me up as a 53 they’re losing as a player.

Is there a licensing issue with prodigy? I cant for the life of me think of another reason to bring in a non ST to a ST game.

I'm good with it. I love Galaxy Quest... and there are plenty of non-star trek -or- non-canon officers and ships in the game. I'll reserve judgement when I know how they function in the game. As long as it adds value, I'm all for it.

A couple concerns. I was initially excited about this idea. However now realizing it's 40+ content makes me have FOMO now. It would be nice for something like this to be scaled down to other levels (I'm 21) for other fans as well. Another issue I can see, what prevents them from trying other IPs then? Babylon 5, Farscape, Firefly? Is there a limit to what they'd put in there? Additionally, as nice as this concept is, it also dilutes the "start trekness" of the game. Don't get me wrong, I love all those IPs (including GQ) but I feel it also changes the feel of the game fundamentally. You'd mentioned other star trek stuff that hadn't been added yet. I'm still early on in the game, but is there any TAS, DS9?

Not seen Galaxy Quest so neutral on its addition to STFC. However the game is crying out for two things that would make it so much more fun: 1. Better exploration - scan objects in random systems to find stuff (like every other space game out there!) This would make grinds more fun as you spot a piece of debris while grinding. 2. A trading mechanism. I have over 600 currencies in my inventory (ops 55),most of which i will never need again. A Ferengi store for trading in old useless items blueprints etc???

No idea why people think this is out of nowhere. Galaxy Quest has been featured in many fan and semi-official Star Trek film rankings for over a decade, starting with the 2013 Star Trek Convention in Las Vegas where the die-hard Star Trek fans ranked it 7th out of a total 13 films, the other 12 were the Trek films released to that point. That means there were not only enough people that wanted it to be included in the list in the first place, but also to rank it higher than HALF of the real Star Trek films. It was originally conceived of as an homage and is better Trek than a decent chunk of actual Star Trek branded stuff we've gotten over the years. That being said, all I want is bugs fixed, I don't give a shit about new content if they make the game as it stands already, better.

Nothing against Galaxy Quest. As Will Wheaton has said, it is the best Star Trek movie that Star Trek didn't make. The problem is as Rev alluded to and was likely being polite as he has to work with Scopely, this is an IP being brought in as distraction. The game is riddled with bug's, network issues, broken and unbalanced content. And this will do nothing to alter that fact. It wouldn't have even been difficult content to add either, it'll be just re-skinned assets already in the game. But more than anything it just reeks of desperation by Scopeley. They know the jig is up and they have been found wanting. They claimed this year was quality over quantity and put simply, they lied. They're still lying and now by bringing in another IP into a STAR TREK game, they're now lying to themselves. I know loads of players that have stopped paying for the battle pass because it adds no value without an officer unlock. I also know that this month they're added the ability to unlock which new rare you want as part of the BP, but considering both rare are PvP officers, they're as much use to me as a chocolate fireguard. So not buying the BP this month either. The vast majority of players in this game are PvE and like me have zero interest in playing the broken PvP in STFC. We just want to progress in the game, gain the assets and be left alone. I'm level 42 now but I've already decided that 49 will be as high as I go. I'm just not wanting or seeing any value in going above that and the way that Scopely are running this game, it'll be dead in a couple of years anyway. Just after the Battlestar Galactica content drops.

Do you know if these crossover characters will be permanently available like the ones in Brawlhalla or only available for a limited time like the ones in Fortnite?

This is just a one month thing, right? Do i like Galaxy Quest? Hell yeah, fantastic movie. Great parody but a lot of heart from the source. But do i want it in this game? Hell no. I've got no interest in having the ship or the officers clog up my trek stuff. So it's minimum participation for me, just looking to get desealing rods and whatever mats and rss comes from the events 🤷‍♂️

2 questions a) what happened to year of the improvements? b) what was the last content addition that had a majority positive community response (I guess at least a B on your rating system although a feel might be closer then a measurement)

Well done Rev, that must've been difficult. Galaxy Quest may be the thin end of the wedge, and I doubt it will be well received by the players. It does open the door to arc content that has the flavour of Star Trek, but one that originates entirely with the developers.
