I actually curious thinkin about "how can the sun layer patern can steady while she pouring many layer color?".. then i just realized at the end of video, its a camera lamp reflective not sun patern.. 😭😭😭😭
What a great video! You turned out a beautiful piece and presented it perfectly! I love your teaching method! We all benefit from you finding your happy place! :) Thanks for sharing your amazing talent!!
using a toothbrush to do your splatters would've been easier. The only issue with that is you don't have control over where it lands unless you put something down or you don't want to go. And also how big the splatters are some will be bigger than others. But just an idea for you
Splatters are just that....splatters. If you want nice round stars it's better to take control over that with tools. Sure takes longer but you have more control.
Very intricate detail and design came out as if you were a queen of creation! You should try to do one of the actual moon and incorporate the layering to give it a relief (3D) effect like your galaxy!
Turning out GORGEOUS!! I watch a LOT of Science channel late night or early a.m. Often, episodes of "How The Universe Works" focus on galaxies, nebulous, etc., that look very similar to what you've made here! (Great show on Science Channel!) This is so-oooo beautiful!!
This is beautiful! Hi Cheddar! I have one of my cats sitting on my lap whilst I am watching you! She is called Pippin and she is like a lovely fluffy hot water bottle! Please can I ask, how much resin did it take in total? Thank you!
Oh my goodness, this is absolute stunning! Such intracate details. There is so much time and effort that went into this, and cost definatly - that was a lot of layers! It looks just like a galaxy lol. I would have loved to of seen more dark blues and purples, just personal preference though. Your chosen colours looked amazing, almost a bit too much for me, but they all, even the neons lol, floated and fitted so well together - very natural looking. I have never seen such a detailed tutorial. I am speechless from its beauty and complexity. I am completly new to this - I have only tried a little with alchohol inks till now and somehow, its not turning out how it should do so. I think using the acrylics with the resin is very very nice - I am just learning that you can use the micas etc together in it as well. What is the interference exactly? Thats a lot of learning you have given me today. I will definatly have to watch it again - there is so much in it. I have a lot to think about before trying it out. Your mould is huge - but it has to be. Can't have a tiny galaxy, the size makes it so outstanding. I was so drawn into it right from the beginning, I couldn't take my eyes off of it. Top class for sure! Thank you so much for letting us in on how to accomplisch such a beautiful work of art! 💕
I know a better way to transfer laser print designs: Cut baking parchment to printer paper size. Run that through your printer. Handle carefully so as not to smudge the printing, and use as a rub-on transfer. You can tape it in place so you can pull back in sections to check for any place that needs to be rubbed on better.
You seem like such a beautiful soul and without a shadow of a doubt you are an amazing artist 🎨 I just wish you could protect your lungs from the harsh chemicals you are using. Resin does do damage to the lungs weather it has a harsh smell or not. Please wear a mask so we can enjoy your art for years to come! Your really are amazing!
This is stunning !!!! It would be great to see something similar but with a midnight blue background and silver flakes with more of the interference powders and the shimmer powders you added in the last layer. Many thanks for sharing your amazing art.
I wonder about that also. Mine drip and can seep to the top. The thing I do is put painters tape on the edges, can’t figure out how she didn’t have a problem, didn’t see anything in the comments.
I just found you today, and am quite thrilled, because you ARE a painter. I paint tradtionaly, and have recently been made aware of this form of media. Very interesting. I have always loved the cosmos, esp. Painting the heavenly bodies, nebullas, galaxies, etc. I would suggest you review photos from the current space telescopes that are in orbit. I have found the best photos on the You Tube channel, Reasons to believe. This project you have created here is beautiful. But I want you tore the star nursery pics, and all the gaseous clouds, that ARE white, and streaky, as well as misty, and foggy looking. Again, beautiful. 🤗
I had read somewhere that you're not supposed to use a butane torch with epoxy but you're not the only person I've seen on YT using them. Can you explain why they say that and anything else you might know about it?
I liked the fact you could see light through the back, and think you could one with RGB led strip around the perimeter in back facing lights to center. Then when you turn it to slow color fade (where one color fades into the next it would look great. I have a colorful oil diffuser/steamer that does this and it brings a new dimension to the whole colorful pallet with each change of color fade from the LED's.
Love your technique and your awareness of the small detail because they can e affect the finish project. Maybe it’s because you’re a women & a true artist. Well done!
*Hi Christy. I've returned to watch this glorious video many times, and now hoping to attempt a galaxy tray. Can you briefly clarify the name of one product, please? Thank you!* 🤗 8:21 This section's products are 'Clear resin, pearl beads, and mica powder'. 9:07 It _sounds_ like you mention dotting tools and is it *_Glow Paint'?_* But then the Golden tub has what looks like 'Phosphorus something' written on it? (I can't tell because you're waving it around and have your thumb over the label, you tease! 🤣)
Cat epoxy calls for Jack Daniel’s. Rocky stepped in a mold I was making. I could have used acetone or something else, but the 4 hours getting all the epoxy off, I think Jack make the 18 pound kitty go to sleep. No poising, no side effects, and I got to drink the leftovers.
Was there any silicone added to the resin in layer 3? It appeared to have the bubble spaces in the lower left of the tray similar to what I get when doing acrylic pour paintings. I love them in my painting and seeing the spaces there just made me wonder if you added a few drops of silicone to the paint. Or did they just happen during your blow out of the white area? It's a lovely piece. I'm sorry but when I see something like this my mind goes into overdrive!! I can imagine a center clear layer, then affixing LED strip lights or Chibi lights around the edge, connecting them to a button battery so the light shines through the sides into the center. That would be lovely on you piece placed in an acrylic easel of some kind, it'd be gorgeous!! Now, I got an idea in my head and I can hear my husband groaning over losing the garage for a week (or so). I so glad you mentioned to those who've haven't tried them yet that the micro beads or bubbles will float unless you seal cover with another layer surface! I didn't know that when I first started and was so disappointed they kept floating up to the surface. I do a lot of galaxy, or celestial art and the micro bubbles in my work can get up to 4 to 6 mm rounds. I tried the half rounds but they never laid right and I wanted some bigger planets showing up. You've done an excellent tutorial here. You went into specifics without extraneous stuff. You also used materials that people can buy at their local craft store and not necessarily have to order it online. There are a lot of other resin artists doing tutorial on RU-vid that should take lessons from you! Well done!
This is beautiful! I love all the different layers. When I saw the neon green and orange I kind of thought yuck but actually they all work great together. Great work!
Hi, after trying your ocean board idea, I thought I would give the galaxy one a go. I had a lazy susan which you suggested may be a good project. All was going great, did a black layer then two more layers with colour. However, I put on a final clear layer and got dimples and fish eyes. Gutted, I bought some more resin, same as I had used before, and gave it another coat. Same thing happened. I sanded down the whole thing, cleaned with alcohol and this afternoon gave it another coat. Same thing has happened and I am so disappointed and don't know what I can do now. I don't have enough resin for yet another coat so would have to by some more. I am using a supposedly casting resin. Should I mask the sides and used a doming resin or can you think of any other reason this is happening. I have even written to the suppliers to see if they have any clues. From a perfectly good smooth, glass finish I am now left with a horrid dimple one and I could cry.
Absolutely gorgeous! I don’t think I’ve seen gold flakes on a galaxy before so unique and beautiful. I love it. Love the glow and all the layers. I’ve seen the purple galaxy color used before and that color is unique and great. Lovely work and great tutorial.
That's really pretty but there is one thing I would have done there a space where it looked like the milky way I would've added some blue white & gold for that smaller milky way accent
Is this exact piece for sale? I am sure I am far too late, but I wanted to ask. I see your etsy shop says you aren't selling anymore. Is there another place to find your work listed?
Great beautiful work I am stained glass artist and oil painting but I need a few classes how to mix colours and what kind of paint is the best and how to deal with different types
I found out from someone else to let the resin sit for 15 to 20 minutes so thickens and can spread with more control on these tutorials please let us know. I had been trying to add 2 colors without the 2 bleeding to each other
