nothing about the super bad standby baterry though. my exynos 20+ is so much worse than my 2 years old note FE, even after the latest update it drain almost 15% just in one night with wifi off and no usage at all.
@Boem Boem have you ever used 120hz? also at 6.2" don't tell me you can actually tell the difference, and if your so set on 60hz I personally think that you should get the s10 at that discounted price.
@sneef I will also get the S20+ and i'll use QHD+ 60Hz most of the time. 120Hz is just an option that may come in handy sometimes, but I prefer a sharper display over high refresh rate. I'm getting the phone because of improved color accuracy in general, brand new camera sensors, super stady OIS and other improvements. Switching from a standard Galaxy S9.
@sneef It's all about the screen size and ppi. I can see the difference between FHD+ and QHD+ on a standard S9 which is 5.8". At 6.7" the difference would be bigger. I know how massive of a difference is between 60 and 120Hz, I just don't like to drain my battery fast for basically nothing, because I don't use my phone for gaming that much, besides, you can even configure certain apps to run at 120Hz and use the phone regulary at 60Hz in apps that don't need 120Hz.
I've always been a lover of Samsung's small phones in the S series but always avoided them for fear of battery performance. But I have a feeling that the S20 will change that. Great video bro 👍
Wow. I watch a lot of RU-vid battery tests and this is now my favorite. A lot of people just pick one app and drain the battery. You showed what you actually use. I have the Note 10 regular and am really thinking about upgrading to the S20. I love my camera, but I'm not happy with my battery life. And battery life is super important to me.
This video was sooooooo useful. It made me realized mine had a battery issue. Just received my S20 yesterday and only using Wassup and FB for 90 mnts (on and off) it has taken almost 50% battery. Was able to contact my company and requested a new one.
This was the last thing I needed to get convinced what phone to get. I have a Samsung S8 right now, Im on my 3rd year and battery life sucks. The Samsung S20 looks impressive here, I dont even recall my S8 being that good when it was new.
@@kavinsuresh5468 only because it's set at 120hz. At 60hz it would be on par with the other phones in its class. And considering it's one of the only phones so far to have a 120hz option, it's not bad at all.
@@Siri_Duffa well one of the key selling features of this phone Is 120hz and it's something the majority would turn on ( if you are going to 60hz then it takes away the change/experience ), as a heavy user, I really thought Samsung would optimise their battery well for 120hz but I am going to have to pass on this one
7:34, Honestly, It would have made more sense to show the Screen on time from the Settings Menu > 'Battery and Performance', Don't know why it was not highlighted.
Great video 😊 I have the S20+ and happily use the 120hz at all times and am very pleased with this phone. I was very hesitant at first on which device to buy, but after handling the phones and investigating on RU-vid I decided I liked the size feel and battery life of the S20+ the best.
I bought my mom a Samsung phone two months back and within a week it started to battery drain because she complained that she just charged it and ten minutes later she lost 2%. So I did an experiment by deactivating most of the Google apps besides Gmail and RU-vid (I heard that causes it so I was curious) and as of now, two months later she never had a problem since. It might vary per person, but Google apps might be poorly optimized for Samsung phones and may cause battery drain from my experience.
dailykaran I own an s10e on the same android 10 as the s20 and I will only loos around 3% in a day. I know this because I don’t use my phone much so I can see how much I have from the time I left the house in the morning. I also use it for a morning alarm where it’s on idle for the entire night unplugged and it’s at 99% by morning.
A most helpful video. I've been considering this phone for a while, instead of its ridiculously expensive big brothers. I was looking for an assessment of battery life on the smaller phone and this really helped. Thank you. The one you tested is the exynos variant, right?
@@mobiscrub I'm not a gamer. I rarely, if ever play any games on my phone. My usage consists mostly of calls and emails. Some social media, RU-vid and Spotify. Can I expect about 6 hours of SOT with this usage? Once again, thanks for the info. The amount of effort you have put into it is appreciated.
Nice video. However I wished you have reviewed it in a daily basis scenario and should've explained us what and how has your usage been. Would've been easier for us to relate to our usage. My question is - I get 5-6 hours sot on S10+. Kept at 60 Hz and QHD can S20 be more efficient than the S10+?
Qhd is not really required buddy. The difference between fhd and qhd is not very obvious but it would drain battery. 120Hz has an obvious benefit. Having said that, 60 fps qhd will give you slightly better battery life but not significantly better
@@mobiscrub So can I expect 5 to 6 hours screen on time with 2-3 hours phone calls, normal texts, whatsapp, social media like Twitter, Facebook and Instagram and maybe 20 pictures a day. I don't play games and no videos. Based on your reply I'll decide whether to keo our cancel my S20 preorder.
@@mobiscrub which sure will be a reality soon. Your presentation skills are just awesome and to the point. And your engagement with your audience is commendable.
No this is the Exynos as he said it his another videos and in comments.. but after all the software updates the Exynosnbattery life is a little better than SD
Thankyouuu so much. This enlighten me. I thought my s20 ultra is broken coz i use 1 hour on phone and it really drop from 100% to 75% while i chat on whatsapp, playing with instagram, battery use the optimum, notification on for some apps , with the edge light notif in whatsapp.
I listen to youtube all day at work non stop and can easily get 9 hours on screen time for the day and not drop below 20%. It is really amazing for the specs this thing has.
Professor Xavier's RU-vid account for the gifted that’s odd. I’d definitely go with the s10e then. There’s bad eggs and 1000 is too much to risk on another bad egg from the same place you got it. I can get 5 hours SoT and not even be half way drained.
A battery test well done ... Great quality too ... Thanks ... However, a small suggestion : When doing Video recording test, please keep the phone with the camera facing some object as to facing flat on its back because the screen becomes black/dark on the view finder which doesn't reproduce exact use cases on day to day life and the screen being AMOLED has reduced drain ... Other than that, great battery drain test 👍🏼
Love your reviews! very informative. It would be really nice if we could have a camera comparison with the iPhone 11 pro vs S20 . this would help us decide :D
I've always gone for the bigger phones but I'm considering the s20. Honestly my hands have been bothering me lately.maybe a 1handed device would be nice
Not significantly better... the S20 plus display is also larger so more screen and hence slightly more consumption too. So you might get about 10% more battery life - but that's about.
Hello, I have mentioned about quick battery drain in my earlier note also. I think somewhere this could be improved. I am not a techie but better optimization could do it. One of the reasons is that many apps in the background are active putting a drain.... If some updates can correct it... This is a small marvellous gadget.... I really appreciate your Communication and tone... Regards... Prof Puri
Disappointed that the 120hz refresh rate doesnt work in medium power saving mode...which also means you can't use adaptive power saving option if you want 120hz 😥
I've had really tough time getting it through the day with regular S10 and Note 10. I changed to S10+ recently and the battery is quite good. I've actually pre-ordered regular S20 but have cancelled it because of past experiences having my own doubts whether it can really survive a full day between charges. Battery anxiety is surely something more than anything these days as life is completely dependent on your phone and Samsung doesn't understand this even after having us pay 67K.
Just curious - how many days had you had the phone before doing this test? It normally takes a few days before the battery settles in as the phone learns usage patterns
Hey Assie, When ur turning on back camera don't keep in on table. As the pixels will turn of for black screen we can't notice much difference in battery., then what is use of recoding.
Hi, Did you do this test right outside the box or did you wait for a few days and do this? I just bought this phone, and the battery doesn't last anything like yours. I play 30 mins of pubg and it drops to 75%. (Top end graphics) And what about the heat? Mine gets crazy heated after 1 game. Plz let me know soon, I need to know if I mine is defective or not. Thanks.
11:00 am to 10:00 pm (11 hours) usage completely wifi on 60 Hz QHD with screen on time 4 hours 20 min it came down to 8% 10:00 am to 9:00 pm (11 hours) similar settings 3 hours on wifi and 8 hours on mobile data it came down to 32% with screen on time of 2 hours 21 min. This is unacceptable battery life. I didn't dare to try on 120 Hz.
The s20 has 120hz unlike other phones which have 60hz in my opinion the s20 is well worth it I’m only going to be getting it to listen to music scroll through Instagram and play small games
S20 is my perfect suitable to me because super looking like small also, great display, heigh RH. But i have doubt abuot battery life. Pl clarify me. Screen ontime usage more time only and doest play games. So can i buy this. Please suggest me. Thanks for ur videos.
Can you do exact same test now with lower settings? Maybe not 120Hz, 1080p - the minimum settings that still keep the experience of using the phone good.
Can anybody tell me what is your estimated capacity on AccuBattery Health page? I bought the Galaxy S20 (Exynos) just 2 weeks ago and it shows me 3,728 mAh estimated and 3,880 design capacity. Health is %96 on a new phone and this bothers me. Because after I plugged off from the charger battery level drops to %99 in 5 mins and %97 in 20 mins of no use. In first 2 hours of very light use battery drops to %90 which is about %4 screen off use. After then it slows down and in the evening avarage screen off percentage is around %1,6-%1,9 Full battery estimates are: 6h 47 m screen on, 51h 29m screen off, 15h 48m combined use.
