Am I the only one who seems not to have a problem with the difference in chips??? I got the exynos version of s9+ in 2018 and the way the phone still works perfectly amazes me,no lags and battery still works fairly good.
@@curiousbat5368 i am,ive been using it since November 2018,i switched to apple last year may but I still have my S9+ with me,it has been my daily driver since 2018,apart from taking pictures with the iPhone,i do almost all other things with the s9+,my point is the chipset doesn't really make a big difference, both chips are good.
Wait, how did the SD had a significant advantage in the CPU?🤨 It's about the same % higher in multicore on the Exynos as the SD is in single core... So they even out.
Good job, I was waiting for this! I just don’t understand why have two different chips with different outputs especially in camera and yet charge the same amounts for the phone?
Samsung force consumers to use their inhouse chip. Snapdragon is only for regions that have network communication issue in some reason. I complete agree with you, terrible experience for consumers, playing the same amount for less performance. Samsung do it because they can get away with it, not acceptable.
@@moshy9717 I guess they didn't want to piss off their own people? I would be happy to use exynos if it was better than SD but right now they're still behind, so all customers should get the same product. The margin they make on their own chip per unit is too great to give that up.
Coming from S10+ and previously the S8+, my advice is to skip Samsung if you’re gonna get the exynos version. This year I would advice to skip Samsung simply because the chips are not optimized enough. I got myself the iPhone 13 pro, works flawlessly.
These are the kind of reviews we need. After the hype, real truth, separate from the marketing hogwash. This year, the S22 ultra brings new and different compromises as is the case with every Samsung phone each year. The camera quality difference, exynos performance noticeably inferior and now the Game optimisation service debacle where Samsung was found cheating in benchmark apps, just continues the weird run Samsung has had lately. The kind of lack of optimisation that Samsung seems to struggle with every single year makes buying these phones almost redundant for people who want a hassle-free experience. Add to the fact that I have never liked Samsung’s battery performance, overnight standby, camera image processing and just the overall lag and stutters in the UI, this S22 Ultra makes my resolve to not bother about Samsung phones in the future, even stronger. Thank you Vik for this honest review.
@@randall3107 Right now, not an android phone. The pixel has its own share of issues. I don’t know how much of an iPhone guy you are or if it would be an experiment you’d be willing to do, I’d recommend an iPhone. Not exciting, but reliable and consistent.
Got an iPhone and now need an android phone as a secondary one..was bout to make up mind when I saw your review.. Please suggest an android which you might think will be reasonable in performance.. 🙏🏽😊
I'm getting the Galaxy S22 Ultra Snapdragon variant in Malaysia. But the problem is overheating issues with this phone. This is due to 8 Gen 1 being built by Samsung instead of TSMC.
That was tested by another youtube reviewer and the sd 8 went up to 47 degrees centigrade and the Exynosnup to 42. Sd 8 over clocked their chip because they were worried about the AMD RDNA 2 gpu in the Exynos over powering the Adrino 730. If they had not over clocked it the results would fallen slightly short of the Exynos variant. All in all they are about the same. With some updates they will both run much smoother, lag, stutter choppy free. I have the Exynos variant and it is fast but definitely needs tweaking. My fold 3 which has sd 888 is slower but much smoother and never stutters.
@@ulysses4989 I actually sold it to my colleague not long ago and it was very smooth. I would probably go for the s23ultra if I was looking to get a new phone. Has sd chip in it with better cameras.
@@handleit I'm looking to take it off my bros hands for a few hundred. It's still above £1k on the official website and I'm not buying a refurbished off a rando. I do game not too heavy usually cod mobile and every once in a while pubg. Does it last till the end of the day if you browse all day? That's all I need. My current phone is a steaming pile of trash but it has a 5000mah battery that lasts the full day.
Surprised that ur battery life is that bad! My Snapdragon version consistently gets me 7 to 7 1/2 hours on screen over 13 plus hours! I'm usually streaming videos at 2160p on RU-vid and all other social media streaming. With extra brightness on and QHD resolution. I'm happy with the battery life but I was hoping for more like an iPhone 13 pro max type battery life, not gonna lie. Lol!
The challenge about the battery life, is actually that the exynos knows your daily patterns better than the sd. So that test is kind of false, because the exynos knows you while snapdragon don't know you. It actually takes about a month for the phones ai to learn how you are using the phone.
I think 1 more important compairson is 4G/5G performance because snap dragon models are not for EU markets so that 4G performance is much worse when compared to the Exynos
I wouldn't give the CPU performance to the SD version since the Exynos version consistently had higher scores for multicore and the SD was higher only in single core. The differences one way or the other were insignificant, though. The camera differences were insignificant to my eyes too (as much as I can tell on youtube; you obviously can judge better looking at the original pics) and whatever differences there are can probably be fixed in a software update since the camera hardware is identical (though the image signal processing is part of the SOC, so at least that part wouldn't be identical!).
After the march firmware update on my Exynos S22U (and factory reset instead of Smart Switch) I get consistently over 8 hours of screen on time. The only option not on maximum is 5G off because there is no difference with good 4G coverage. I think 3 hours of a difference is a too big of a number just to call it a fluke.
There will be an update to optimize the chip, gos is not a bad thing people making it out to be, sd 8 gen 1 gets extremely hot, gos prevents it from overheating and increase longevity of the device.
Well, not enough camera samples to make a conclusion and a main camera test is not the whole picture (portrait, 4k, wide angle, 10x and so on), but you might be right. However, the camera differences between Snapdragon and Exynos were minimized 4 months later to an acceptable level with the S21 ultra.
@@nirupamprangan9468 I might add that the reviewers forget one thing and that's exynos vs exynos and Snapdragon vs Snapdragon. These minor differences that's spotted might be equivalent to the differences between smartphones with the same cpu. They never test that.
@@TechMikkel in my country Bangladesh, snapdragon costs me 102k & exynos costs me 90k. 12k difference in price (unofficial market) So what's your suggestion? Exynos or snapdragon?
For the photo looking out the window isn't the Exynos focused on the trees outside whereas the SD is focused on the wall? That's why the exposure/sharpness is different.
I was surprised how well the exynos could keep up. And the camera quality can still be improved with software updates, the power for processing is there.
Same here. I think the Exynos performed better. I am from India and Samsung has been selling exynos variants till 2021 and now they are selling Snapdragon from 2022. Just imagine. And the fact Exynos is now better 🤔 Annoying. GPU performance is better in exynos.

I have exynos version and everything is fine. I got my phone 6 days ago, so im not sure about my battery life yet. Looks like somewhat 4h sot. But after all i bought the phone because the note 20 ultra. Best looking phone on market imo.
The difference in camera performance between the Snapdragon and Exynos made me switch to iphone. In the Philippines, we always get the Exynos variant and I always had problems with its camera performance as well as its software stability. Sure the iphone is a bit boring with less features and all, but at least I don't have to suffer that much since the chips are the same.
Exactly what I did to. I like Samsung but I want the best chip and not a phone with two different chips. That’s why I changed to iPhone for the first time in many years. Now I know I get the good chip and everyone else has the same. Stupid choices from Samsung 🤮. I got the 13pro and damn the battery and overall performance is rock solid.
I am using the S22U since 18 Feb and I get about 7 hours on social media. I even have the 85% Limit enabled. So results may be different for everyone ^^
The snapdragon model is still on January patch, which isn’t as stable and performs worse than the firmware the exynos is on. Please retest when they are on the same firmware.
Weird to see such an old YT channel creating content lacking so much details, not only the test, but also the on screen data for the viewers, many other YT channels are years ahead.
Why the hell aren't you saying that the multicore is lower on Snapdragon? It clearly shows that qualcomm is paying you. I don't even have to say it's you who is saying it
The difference between photos is amazing / surprising to see side by side. Software fix please! Was the snapdragon phone new as in the battery optimization had not had a chance to develop?
As in the Exynos is actually better, unlike what this 🤡 says. See for yourself with a real proper comparison: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-7MSLjpAlmYo.html Exynos blows the SD out of the water, especially in zoo..
It is not as simple as a "fix", Qualcomm have developed more advanced image processing than Samsung and Mediatek in their SOC, and you can't just copy paste it.
Returned my s22 ultra (exynos) had way too many software bugs for a £1250 phone especially when it starts affected the main part ya know phone calls -_-
instead of making a snapdragon vs exynos, make a video about every version of samsung in every part of the world. SM-S908B, SM-S908B/DS, SM-S908U, SM-S908U1, SM-S908W, SM-S908N, SM-S9080, SM-908E, SM-S908E/DS, these are the model numbers of s22 ultra. and every version is different, half of that phone is completely different, from samsung keyboard to not being able to use goodlock and some samsung apps. since samsung does not seem to care, youtube reviews does not seem to care too. most of the youtube reviewers are making vids about the same exact thing samsung says on their website about their products. redundant.
at least apple are consistent in every country, u can use every single apple 1st party apps and features with no problem, i dont get why samsung cant do it since theyre the number 1 smartphone maker when it comes to sales smh
What's missing here is any kind of standby comparison. And since you get 5 hours of SOT on these phones, it means that the stand-by is active for 19h. And yet...not tested here.
The Exynos does pretty well, pulling even ahead in performance and throttling less. It's the first time it happens and you don't seem to give it enough credit! Photos from Snapdragon version has a lot of saturation, smoothing and less Dynamic range. Kudos to Exynos team in Samsung.
@@HossDiaph actually it was the s9 then people started complaining with s10 to s20 series having battery drain and overheating issues with the exynos variants but then snapdragon 888 had had huge overheating problems on oppo xiaomi and oneplus phones but Samsung sadly had lag and RU-vid crashes and bit of lag if 8 to 10 apps where open sadly I'm in the uk and I have the s21 fe 256gb sd 888 variant I checked on geek bench it sad adreno 660 aka sd 888 and not the mali gpu slash cpu which is the exynos variant i had multiple lags here and their and RU-vid force close crashes like 50% of the time. Battery life in s22 ultra gets better as it adopts with your usage. with 2 weeks with usage now, My SD variant s22u can last 8hrs SOT on wifi with social media, netflix and youtube only. thats way better than your 5hrs SOT.
Stop mocking Exynos it's not your punching bag, samsung has made a quality hardware this time which needs fine tuning because it's not what they are best at,they make alot of hardware equipments and nobody comes close to it,a new gpu architecture needs time to work as fluid as the well established one, remember how mali took beating at the initial stages and then they now compete with Qualcomm and Apple and balance both power consumption with performance boost.
Exactly, this years exynos hardware is really good and its better than i expect. It runs genshin surprisingly well this chip just need more optimization on games and camera.
You can't test battery life by just usage alone. Battery drain during standby is also very important and is an area where the exynos has always struggled. It highly affects user experience.
I lost >20% overnight (8hrs) and there is no way to find out what causes that as the battery stats show the phone as pretty much inactive. Exynos has never been great but my s20U only lost 9% in those same 8hrs (been testing on same setup). So I am puzzled! Will turn on flight mode tonight to see if it is connectivity.
As much as I hate iPhone I think I will get the 14 pro max if it'll get released with usb c. I'm done with this exynos/ snapdragon BS tbh. I will keep my S10+ and see what apple does with the iPhone 14.
I had the s20 FE with an exynos processor and I didn't mind it at first but then I started noticing that it was overheating. I really don't trust those processors. Maybe they improved them two years later, but I still wouldn't buy one.

Yep, that's the weak point of Exynos. In 2017/18 i had an a5 (2017) with Exynos modem and really poor connectivity. I don't wish that shit on my worst enemy! 😂
Really hope they will fix our Exynos camera for us in an upcoming update, apparently the same hardware in the camera! Hopefully this will shine through too as the GOS did.... that many people starting to notice.

I'm so upset that the Camera on the Exynos chip Samsung makes produces worse photos than off-the-shelf Snapdragon, its a huge embarrassment for Samsung Foundry, what a mess they are
Connectivity is better in Snapdragon. Performance about same (previous Exynos were much behind). Battery actually very close, but Snapdragon bit better because the phone is not struggling as much to get signal. Image processing also better in Snapdragon. Overall, these differences make the 2 version of this phone entirely different. I hope some day Samsung rolls out Exynos for S22 and S22+ worldwide and SD for the Ultra. That way we would get exactly what others paid for everywhere.
How did you conclude that the Snapdragon has more vibrant colours? Looks very much the opposite to me. Snapdragon looks brighter, but slightly more washed out.
@Per Rööki sadly there is nothing to talk about. exynos sucks. and i'm sad about that because i live in italy and i would buy the ultra. in video recording there is a huge difference in stabilization, expecially in low light (better in snapdragon) in standby there is a huge differenze in battery life (better in snapdragon) in game the exynos simply doesn't support any game and always has worst fps. in every day use exynos is slower, in video coding is a lot slower

Samsung should either ditch the exynos or quit using snapdragon chip and focus on it own made Exynos and make it better to compete with others, I don't understand why Samsung keep selling one phone with two different chip
I lost nearly 2% an hour even on wifi last night. I am on a full reset after my S22U became unusable. So that may have been a one off, but not sure it is.
