Looks like app data is not restored via this method.. Each app I click into I have to enter my login credentials as though it was the first time I've ever used the app.
@@TechisodeTV I noticed that on your calendar app it said that you can't transfer data from synced accounts any I get the same thing when I try to transfer my calendar app. Any idea how to get around this?
@@tgw230 it does that on purpose...each time you have to log in cuz if you lost your phone and someone found it and were able to make it there phone and all your apps didn't need relogging into then they would have access to your information, like banking and other important stuff. It's a pain in the butt though 🤪
I wanted to send a big thank you for this video on setup and how to transfer data. I received my S22 ultra this week and had never did my own set ups (always going to the store to have them do it). I work at a phone store. I normally download the Samsung Switch app on both phones which takes longer but you showed me I didn’t have to do that this whole time. You have saved time for me and my customers thank you
@@mikehurt3290 For iCloud I usually just make sure photos and contacts are toggled on then they automatically come after the customer signs into their new device. Then I tell them to download their apps and login once they get home. I don’t like doing a complete backup because it takes too long. I never thought about it but you’re right Samsung Switch overall is a smoother transfer system than iCloud imo
@@antx8563 at my store they expect the full setup and yeah I freaking hate icloud, if nothing goes wrong it's great but if one thing goes wrong it becomes a giant hassle

same, mine arrives tomorrow and I'm switching from a Note 20 Ultra. How are you liking it so far? Also were any of your apps effected by the lack of an sd card? Because atleast on my Note 20 Ultra some of my apps used the sd card for data and storage, so i'm wondering if some of the transferred apps are going to be messed up.

Cable is by far the best. I had over 100 GB to transfer. Wireless was stuck around 19% after 3 hours and was estimating 59 more. I stopped the transfer and plugged in the cable and the whole process took approximately 1 hour.
Did you stop the transfer and then plug in the phones to one another ? How do i do this ? My new phone says i will be done in 36 hrs more for the transfer. This is nuts !!! I made a comment up top. Thanks, Gerry
@@gerry427 yes, I stopped the transfer and did it all again. I can't remember if it prompted me on overwriting files or not, but either way I got it to work much better after I plugged them in and restarted the process.
You're just like me! I never use any customization services from Google or Samsung or send any diagnostic data to either or my carrier. That's just unnecessary. I delete all the carrier apps as possible and delete ALL of their permissions and disable the apps. Nice video! Got my S22 256GB in white yesterday!

Thank you for another wonderful video! I just purchased a Galaxy Flip 4 and though I am a techie geek (in a good way), wanted to make sure I know what I'm doing to switch and set up. I've watched this video twice and am so looking forward to getting through the process and to start using the new device. One commenter asked whether companies are getting lazy in their presentations. I believe they realize they really don't have to do any presentations at all because they know there are so many people like you who will do the presentations much better (no insult to the tech providers, just stating the obvious). I often tell people that "I hold a triple doctorate from the University of Google and RU-vid" Because this is the first place I go when I need to learn how to do something!😁 I appreciate your work and look forward to viewing more of your instructional videos and tech reviews.

So what do I do with the SIM card that came with the new phone (S22 Ultra)? Do I leave ther old SIM card in from the old phone where I transferred the data from? Or, after all is completed, do I take that SIM card back out, send it back with the old phone I'm trading in and put the new card in that came with the new phone?

This video was perfect for me. I had no idea how to do this and when to add the sim chip. So is there anything you have to do with the carrier? Or just swap the sim chip and transfer stuff and your new phone is good to go?

Samsung has a new set of USBC flash drives for expandable memory. Definitely not as convenient as a slot for a sd card but it will come in handy. I've always kept the converter piece that used to come in box attached to a flash drive.

Great video. I used SmartSwitch to xfer from iPhone13 Pro to S22 Ultra. Thennnn used it again to transfer from Z Fold 3 to S22 Ultra. Was able to move all messages and pics from both OS's without a problem.
So just to clarify, you can always go back to smart switch and keep transferring data? It's not a one time thing? I can transfer photos today and then decide to transfer videos tomorrow?
@@jggarage1807 Honestly I’m not sure. When I used SS to transfer my ZF3 contents to my S22U it was because I was trading in my ZF3. Unfortunately, I don’t have an another Android device to transfer from.

Samsung will always be my favourite I've bought other phones in the past but Samsung software and hardware has always been the best for me. I'm loving my 22 ultra I'm not happy that you don't get the charger and headphones as standard but I own them already

Excellent video and presentation. I have 2 questions: 1. Does it transfer all apps with their data? 2. Is there a way to backup the Galaxy phone completely to a PC/ Mac? User should be able to restore the phone completely using the backup, should the need arise.
I'm glad they never got rid of the note line, I know they call it the 22 ultra, but in reality, it's the S 22 ultra that they got rid of, should call it the S 22 note. I used smart switch to swap everything over. Using a UAG monarch kevlar case. Love the camera and zoom capabilities on this phone. And I'm a big s pen user, so this is the only option for me.
I love your content and found the ability to share networks new to me. However, after following your instructions, as best that I could, I was not able to find the sharable QR code on my Fold 3 as a test. Is the QR code only on Pixel devices, or did I do something wrong?

Nice video , thank you, could you answer something for me please , I'll be transferring everything from my s20plus to my new s22 ultra, you say in the video "everything " will transfer if that option is selected, so will this include fingerprint and facial biometrics ? Or do those need to be set up after ? I'm asking because I have apps for my bank accounts currently on my s20plus which use my thumbprint to access and would like to know if I'd need to set them up again or will they be ready to use with my thumbprint straight away ?
@@laurareese3389 there's been no response yet to my question so I found out what happened anyway when my ultra arrived the other day , so I can pass this on to you, everything transferred fine BUT things like my banking app and credit card apps and any others that required my fingerprint to access had to be set up again , so for example my bank app had to be downloaded again and I had to set it all up putting my login details and because although I'd kept my number the bank app still needed to get me to put my additional security details in so I could be verified before it would let me go further, once that was done I could login again using my fingerprint, little tip, any apps you have that require logins either typed or biometric for example bank apps , make a note of them all just in case you also have to re do them on your new phone , also if you can't remember some of your logins like me with a couple of mine because on phone remembered them and auto filled , I just used the "forgotten password " or "forgotten login details " tabs and made new passwords and logins but jotted them down so I can use them on the new phone if required. Hope this helps you out .

Getting the s22 ultra was worried about the xfer of my sd card info..I'm upgrading from an s8plus🙄🙄..so u can imagine my stress..2 questions..what usb cable is that..which goes into both phones..and if I do the xfer everything..my sd card stuff will also b included right!? Or do u have to choose each one..also will the easy 1st xfer u showed work with my s8plus to the s22 ultra? Thanx..all for now!!
I was lazy and chose the "Everything" option to Smart Switch data from my Note 9. Impressed by how easy it was, but now discovering some odd results: eg on my S22 Ultra home screen, some apps forcibly shifted into folders on Note 9 now open as Chrome: which I never used on Note 9. And I had selected DuckDuckGo as my default browser in setting up S22 Ultra. Also not clear how I could delete these apps without opening Chrome -- or whether it's even worth reinstalling them, if it means that these apps only open in Chrome? Which was not evident on my Note 9.

Great helpful video! I’m transferring from an S10 to the S22 Ultra. A new SIM card came with the Ultra. Do I have to use the new card or can I use the old one? I found out I needed to use the new card. I put in the new card while the phone was turned off. Just Logged in to my provider and the option to change sim card was there and which phone # I wanted to use. It asks you for the sim card#. After that, I followed these directions and everything worked perfectly!! thank you so much!!!!

Fastest way to transfer your data : 1. Open simcard tray, eject your MicroSD card 2. Put MicroSD card to your new phone. it takes 20 seconds, but modern smartphone include S22 series doesn't have MicroSD card slot anymore.
After doing the setup and smart switch from my gaaxy s20 ultra 5g over to my new galaxy s22ultra , I have to go back to each a and resign in right? Meaning username and password. Mine is arriving today & I'm starting fresh this time. I have the Note 10+ that I'm keeping as a backup. However, no Smart Switch even though it works great, whether transferring your data from an iPhone to Android or whatever. I just want a clean 512g S22 Ultra
I ALWAYS start fresh with every device. I don't want to bring anything from my old device over to the new. I want my new device to feel new after all. Most people are digital hoarders so they need their new device to feel as bloated as their old from all the junk they've been carrying since they started using their first devices.

AS easy as this seems...I have started to look at setting up my new S23 Ultra (which was purchased during Amazon's recent sale) and see that the SIM card on the s8+ is not the same as what the S23 ultra requires...So I am assuming I now need to purchase a SIM card from Verizon?

We do a lot of videos but want to be able to access the older videos without storing them on external drive. I'm guessing somehow sync to google drive without it deleting it from your phone storage?

Is it necessary to switch the sim card before transferring data from Samsung Note 10 to ultra 22? I've done the transfer now twice and I see very little of my applications that I had on my note 10. I have a lot of apps and data as well as a full 250gb SD card on my note 10. It took approx 7 hrs to do the transfer. It stated all the transfer was complete both times. It seems to be missing a ton of data and apps??? I practically run my business on my phone. This is extremely important that it transfers apps, passwords to apps, networks and their credentials... After the 2nd switchover of data and still not seeing the bulk of info moved, I went looking and found your informative video. What do I do now? I still haven't switched my sim to the new phone because I don't want to lose data & apps like happened before in my prior phone upgrades. The new phone has a 1tb storage capacity.
in regards to files/settings that are on my sd card. I receive my S22U tomorrow and I'm switching from a N20U, how does the S22U deal with the files from the SD card? For example if an app on my N20U used storage on my SD card then once I transfer all of my data over to the S22U how will those settings and files be effected since there is no longer an SD card?
Question for apps that requires more security to use aka bank apps, all the tokens and what not are also transfered and can be used without issue? Want to kniw if i would need to start the process again to enable the bank app on my new phone
