I'd ask: - How does the Victus+ compare to the Victus? I found that the Victus on my S21 Ultra has gathered a lot of small blemishes, which aren't visible unless under direct light, but which really annoy me because I have no idea how they got there. - A Snapdragon vs Exynos comparison if possible
For those of you who purchased an S21 Ultra in 2021, an incremental upgrade to S22 Ultra is just NOT worth it! Nearly 90% specifications are verbatim. Infact the S21 Ultra even offered A SKU with 16GB RAM which has been duscountined in S22 Ultra. The Camera hardware are practically the same with only a minor improvement for low light photography which would come to S21 Ultra as well with a software/firmware upgrade. The LTPO QHD+ AMOLED display is also practically the same ! The major change really is a NEW Snapdragon 8 Gen 1 4nm SoC or Exynos 2200 (as opposed to erstwhile Snapdragon 888 SoC or Exynos 2100) which may offer a slightly better performance per watt (may not be with Exynos though). Moving to 45W fast charging has little impact since the existing 25W fast charger is blazing fast by itself. Regarding the dedicated SPen - statistically nearly 80% of Note users did NOT use SPen on a regular or frequent basis, so SPen usage model does not have enough traction on S22 Ultra either. Pricing : I purchased the S21 Ultra (12GB RAM, 256GB Storage SKU) at its lowest pricing in 2021 at 84K INR nearly 20% below its initial launch price. SKU to SKU , S22 Ultra would be more expensive by approx 25K INR, but spec to spec not significant difference. The only noteworthy upgrade in my opinion is Snapdragon 8 Gen1, and few very minor improvements are SPen dedicated slot, Wifi6E, 45W fast charging, option for 1TB storage, and Gorilla glass victus+ , with a slightly higher peak brightness at 1750 nits. No major earth shattering upgrade. For example I was expecting one/more of following. 1. Holographic I/O interface (for AR applications, 4D spatial visualization hypermedia applications including holographic mode input console) 2. Brain Computer Interface / BCI applications integrated with on-board AI capability & Bixby gen3 3. Energous true wireless charging as opposed to induction based wireless charging 4. Support for multi eSIM - on demand subscription model 5. AI based Seamless network mobility support across- Wifiac, Wifi6E , 4G LTE-A, 5G sub6, 5G mmWave 6. Camera upgrade - video capture 4K@60fps and 8K@30fps on ALL cameras, not just the primary camera 7. Support for multiple simultaneous user workspaces (virtual sandboxing) with Context adaptive multitasking- ability to switchover to different workspaces dynamically based on user Context like input mode, output mode, media source, network device, gesture control, NLP semantics, haptic feedback etc
If you're on an older phone though like me it's worth the upgrade. Don't like not having expandable storage though. I'm on note 9 still. She's falling apart though time to upgrade.
@@rokusbuie169 I purchase the 16gb 500gig S21 ultra last year, I'm still very happy with this phone. All the updates have made battery life way better and honestly I'm not impressed with this years design. In my opinion the S21 design was way more slick. Btw I also purchased Samsung's official phone case with the s pen included, and while I did enjoy it, it truly never used it and switched back to a regular case in two months and haven't gone back. So stick with your S21 ultras. There's a good reason why Samsung stopped selling them because they're practically the same.
@Raymond David Smith it's almost no different than the 22, and is better in different ways. The s22 is just brighter but has less RAM on the base and ultra model. The biggest reason to buy the s22 is for the imbedded s pen
There is some big improvements, such as low light photos and video, as well as the new pci13 color space for brighter colors and better picture outdoors in the sun
There is a lot of stuff that they didn't cover in video specially with these cameras and display they have bigger pixels and ltpo2 panel but bcz CNET lol, but with new phones you don't have to upgrade every year, I did bcz I have Note 10+ and this is a big upgrade for me
On paper both S21U and S22U looks same. And also on usage 95% of the users will not find any big differences as well in terms of performance. Actually it is best time to get S21 Ultra @ good deal and save some money rather than spending over S22 Ultra which I feel it is over hyped and over priced.
I say they should make the standard one like a regular flat screen s phone then the plus make it like the old ultra and the ultra can be the note I like the look of my s21 ultra and I don’t really care about cameras rarely use them so I’m def sticking with my s21 especially because the overall experience will be the same
I use my phone as a phone and not mainly as a camera or tablet/computer. Thus, I want to know what the differences are in 5G technology, wi-fi capability, bluetooth, microphone (so I folks can hear me on a call), speaker quality (so I can hear others during a call), GPS quality, and etc. I wish more RU-vid video reviews cover these qualities in these cellphones once they get their hands on the devices.
Seeing this, I will definitely be sticking with the S21 ultra. As many other people have said, there really isn't much difference between the two except for the S pen , and the fact that the S22 Ultra looks square like instead of curved which in my case would not be good because I tend to drop my phone, and it would be easier to break than the S21 Ultra.
When you do a full review, please don't hold back when it comes to camera. I bought the Note 20 Ultra partially because I thought the camera will be perfect, but then I was extremely disappointed when the actual shots were worse than from my Note 9. That related to shots of documents, any kind of screen, IDs etc. I take a lot of such photos and the Note 9 (even Note 8 before that) took those photos perfectly.
Thanks for the review Lexy! We'd appreciate to know about the audio qualities and connectivity. It's still a phone, hopefully, and we've got good cameras already! 🤷🏾♂️ 🤭
This is the comparison was waiting for... Will wait for more clarity in the side by side camera comparison test apart from this you have improved wifi 6se and better 5g modems with a efficient 4nm processor and a 45 watt charging🔋⚡... Nice work👍

Please let me know what kind of comparisons you'd like to see when the S22 Ultra arrives!
@@trinitycob6617 I don't understand why people want massive storage. I went from Note 9 to S21 Ultra. I understood that meant to give up the expandable storage, but after a year of owning the S21 Ultra and taking tons of photos using the new Expert Raw camera app, I have 321 GB left. Expandable storage becomes an afterthought imo.
@@CubZeke First off, no one's asked for your oppinion as I was talking to him. Second, it's obvious why more storage is needed. 4k 60 and 8k video recording takes up space easy. Not everyone wants to store everything on Google drive
I'd definitely would like to go with the S22 Ultra. But if 90% of the camera experience, improvements and enhancements will come to the S21 Ultra, I don't mind getting that instead. Not sure when I'll use the S Pen tbh.
So if you have S21 Ultra - updating to the new NOTE (i am saying it on purpose) is pointless. I dont use the SPen anyway, so 0 % difference if they will be rolling out practically the same software. Thank you so much for the review! It put my mind at ease.
I love that Samsung combined the Note/S series together. I hated seeing them release like 10+ phones a year. They need to strictly focus on their S series and Foldable series.
Very informative video. Thank you! I would like to see camera (zoom, low light) and battery battle against S21 Ultra. We already know that S21 Ultra is the best in terms of cameras, so no point comparing it against others.
Such a good review! Always great 😊 Since you asked… how about a comparison between and iPhone 13 Pro Max vs the Note (I’ll leave that to your heart’s content)
i have the s21 ultra. I dont think I will upgrade because it doesnt seem like much of an upgrade. The s22 ultra's pen is too small for me as well as the fact that it's so boxy. I know that's not gonna be ergonomic
I was on the fence about the s21 ultra and s22 ultra because I have Note 8 and I can trade it in for a $800 credit towards a newer phone. Any suggestions...
How did you get it already? I just pre ordered mine and it won't be here until February 15th. I have the s21 ultra 5g and it's the BEST phone I've ever had. I'm hoping the s22 ultra 5g has more features than the s21. Either way, I'm a Samsung fan, so i know it's coming out better than any iPhone
The last ultra I owned was the first s20. But if I were you the s21 in comparison to the s22 isn't worth the huge money dump unless you can get a good trade in value. Still not a whole ton has changed with the ultra line up even starting from the s20. But currently I have a OnePlus 8T+ so I'm about to preorder the s22 tonight.
I love my S21 Ultra (the 16GB RAM, 512GB storage version), and unless my carrier offers a swap upgrade I'll likely stick with it, using Samsung/Google updates to get some of the S22 features into my phone, such as the Beta Expert RAW camera mode. I own both the S21 Ultra S-Pen and S-Pen Pro, and though it's a little annoying to carry either one externally, it's not enough of an upgrade for me to switch to the, admittedly superior, integrated S22 Ultra S-Pen. Bar the genuine smaller hardware updates to the processor, GPU, some of the data communication chips, and 45W super fast charging* (amongst others), the overall difference is not worth the upgrade for me. It IS a fantastic upgrade for those on pre-2021 models (S20 and S10 series), but S21 U to S22 U is far less so. Weirdly I actually like the look of both S21 Ultra and S22 Ultra phones, both the fronts, backs, and edges! I'm a former Note user (up to Note 3 so many many years ago) and like the boxy look of the S22 U, but I think that my S21 U has a more interesting look. A minor, though important, disappointment is that the S22U has a max of 12GB RAM. That might seem small but for those who do heavy editing on their phones (such as using Adobe Photoshop Lightroom to edit RAW photographs taken via their Galaxy phone), that extra RAW space genuinely helps. I'm sure the S22 U 12GB RAM will still do well, but knowing that S21 and S21+ came with 12GB options, with the former flagship S21 U at 16GB, I'm disappointed that the S22 U maxes out at 12GB RAM. On the other hand, 1TB of storage option on the maxed out S22 U is fantastic! If there was only major disappointment between the two phones, it's the very, very, incremental screen update. My S21 U has slightly more pixels per inch than the S22 U (515 vs 500 PPI respectively). The former does have a little less screen-to-body ratio compared to the latter, 89.8% vs 90.2% respectively again, but this is very slight and the physical designs of the phones will make that difference negligible due to different perception and feel of each phone. I wish the S22 U had a true 4K HDR10+ screen, going up against Sony niche flagship phones, OR 2K Dolby Vision, OR (and unlikely) 4K Dolby Vision screens. Sadly the screens are much to close for me and that's a shame, though does showcase how utterly amazing the S21 U and screen is, with S22 U using much of the same screen tech a second time around. Overall, the few changes that are very good are not enough for me to change between S21 U to the S22 U, and software updates will allow me to have either the same or very similar experiences of the newer phone. However, again, if you are a phone user pre-2021 and want a top-of-the-line Samsung phone, S22 U is a great upgrade. Just check what offers are available on NOS of S21 U phones first before you splash out! *I use a fantastic Elecjet X21 Pro GaN 65W charger that integrates Samsung's Super Fast Charging 2.0 protocols, thus has both the older S10/S20 45W PPS standard perfectly compatible with the new S22 series. It also works for S21 25W PPS. I'm pretty sorted for my charging needs and glad Samsung has added back 45W charging too.
Yep these are good points. I am tempted to upgrade but this s22 ultra specs is not enough to justify leaving my s21 ultra. I think I will wait for the S23 Ultra next year.
@@aronwilliams6177 i would. S21 Ultra will recieve same camera updates. And the back of the phone is just so much more appealing to hold and look at than the S22 Ultra tbh. With that being said, the S23 Ultra is what i shall wait for
Tried for 26 hours to buy a S22 Ultra/1TB/unlocked phone that I RESERVED. First, the site wouldn't add it to my cart ("Request Timeout"). Second, the trade-in option disappeared momentarily. Third, the site would not apply the $250 worth of credits. Forth, the site said the items cannot be delivered to my address, and then emptied my cart. Now, the phone I RESERVED and most accessories are sold out. I called Samsung twice, chatted once, and was promised "my" phone would be available, even promised an email for a 5% discount. All lies. This was a major failure for Samsung. Please address this on your RU-vid channel.
Last year I went from s9+ to s21 ultra So I’ll be waiting a few more years Had I not gotten the s21 and kept my s9 I’d probably pick this up, or just buy an s21 ultra for less since it’d probably be cheaper than 22
Every new release is not an upgrade...case in point. Glad I picked up my S21 Ultra a few weeks back since it will be more difficult to find with the release of the S22 Ultra.
It's good to see you doing yet another samsung flagship phone. And another phone with space zoom 😃. I did trade in my note 20 ultra last year and brought the z fold 3 mainly because samsung gave $1k trade in. I figured that I would have to go z fold from here on out, until today. Now with the s22 Ultra, samsung is giving $900 trade in for the z fold 3. It's decision time again. What do you think 🤔? Should I space zoom or fold?
I will still stick to my S21 Ultra for a couple of years to come I don’t see much of a difference anyway and also Samsung needs to go back to flat screen since it’s incredibly hard to find a tempered glass for curved screens. Thanks for the review.
Samsung: We give you the Note, I mean S22 Ultra. Android Users: It’s like the S21 Ultra with a built-in S Pen. Samsung: These suckers completely fell for the rebranded Note that tanked every year. 😂
Been in a region that is subject to exynos comparing the two different chipsets is one of the things I'm desperate to find out it's so frustrating Samsung effectively bringing out a flagship snapdragon device and then a watered-down version of the snapdragon edition running on the exynos which if we are being honest with ourselves makes a two different handsets but still the same price I'm still the same name as each other yet they are not the same
The pro camera features you mention are already on the s21 ultra. Go to camera and when switching between video and photo, go to "more". I just got the s22 ultra delivered tonight and it's very similar feeling to the s21 ultra I'm replacing. I greatly prefer the squared off corners, the fingerprint scanner works better, I love the pen garage and pen button features, faster processor, more storage, less lens flare on the camera, etc. I got it for $700 with the trade in of my old phone, and I got a wireless charger, the 45 watt charger, and Galaxy Buds Pro for free. So $280+ in extras for free.
I have at&t next up in my plan and my s21 ultra is paid off so I figured why not get the s22 ultra?? I pre-ordered and get it delivered on the 25th. I also already ordered a waterproof case (spider case on Amazon) which I also used with my s21 ultra to keep it looking as good as the day I got it for when it's time to trade in. The way I see it after coming from metro pcs and only ever using $200 metro phones it's nice to have the latest and greatest! Like I said I'm part of the next up and get $800 off with trade and the remainder only adds $14 to my bill so why not?
I think the s22 ultra is excellent samsung didn't made a single mistake like the s21 ultra last year but if you have an s21 ultra i don't recommend upgrading to the s22 ultra
Honestly I'm not impressed. In fact I'm actually bored. She even sounds bored in the video 😂. I'm still rocking the S10 Plus. If you know how to go into Android recovery mode. You can clean out your cache and also optimize all your apps at the same time and your phone is going to be like brand new. I haven't seen anything to encourage me to upgrade.
@@hehshanjoel6087 not bad honestly. The ultra sonic fingerprint scanner can be annoying at times but has gotten better over the years and still receive updates. Just recently I have been tempted to upgrade but i dont know. Recently I have been more conservative towards spending despite being a tech nerd lol but some things either do not age well or receive much value in return so thats what im trying to decide.
@rubenrar1 I was using ghe S10+ too but my battery couldn't last me a whole day anymore and it was getting slightly glitchy so I got S21 ultra instead and I've got to say it's pretty good! The S22 ultra is however a downgrade from the S21 so no plans to change to the 22😅😅
@@hehshanjoel6087 in our area of where we live, we have a phone doctors store where they can put new battery in if that was your desire but I recently learned that they could also polish a glass screen if you have minor cracks in the glass. I was actually impressed for what they did for my dad's phone. He has the s21fe and it seems solid. So I've been looking at the same model of his and ask myself what do I really need. Recently I've been feeling burnout from being a tech enthusiast and I've been learning to prioritize things in my life. I'm not judging other people but this is what has been going on for me and I'm just trying to make the right decision. I have been tempted to get the ultra because they told me I could get $250 towards the ultra but I'm waiting till my emotions go down. But I will say though I like the fingerprint scanner on the newer models because I think Samsung got rid of the ultrasonic fingerprint scanner on mine. It has gotten better over the years but I can see why Samsung abandoned it lol.
Es un s21 ultra convertido en un note. No veo ningun motivo más para que alguien quiera cambiar su S21 ultra por el s22 ultra pagando mas por lo mismo y por cierto el spen esta sobrevalorado ya que no se usa para nada
