Considering the larger display and higher resolution of Samsung and the smaller battery of the iPhone I'd say they are on par. That being said, Samsung really did wonders this year

S23 Ultra is such a big improvement from Samsung in term of battery life. I have been using many Samsung flagship phones since S3, and only with S23U that I don't have to worry about battery life. Big applause for their effort 😆

I have to agree, at the start of this test. iPhone loves to lie about it's battery, I can go on 100% for about 45 minutes until it ticks down to 99, then from there it goes down rapidly till it slows again. ( I have an iPhone 12 )

Samsung doesn't give a warning before shutting down. Only Huawei does. Gives a countdown before shutting.

I dont care for 12 sec my s22 ultra does not go more then 6 hrs at most but s23 ultra went up to almost 11 hrs with same screen size and battery props to u

Samsung really upped their game this year. I didn't go for an upgrade because I didn't believe the claims at first of having drastic battery upgrades, but I was proven wrong.

Apple phones tend to stay at a 100% because ,they are advertised to have a 3200 mah(14 pro) battery but actually the phones have 3300-3350 mah . So basically apple only tends to calculate its % starting from 3200 mah. Same is the case with battery health

All batteries naturally lose some capacity after a while, but if you use charge limiting on it overnight (with Chargie, for example), you'll get years of runtime without major degradation or the need to change it. Super easy.

I’ve had instances with my iPhone where im scrolling in tiktok and the battery percent is it 50 and then I drop the phone to do something only for me to check back later and see it’s gone to 55 percent again.

Ok they are many things wrong about this test u need to put the brightness in Max for both or in minimum and in the Samsung s23ultra u should change the resolution and more things

As I understand it, why it takes a while to start dropping below 100% is because iPhone batteries are larger than specified. This is to stop lawyers suing Apple for misrepresentation. The average is between 5-8% larger than listed mAh. That 5-8% takes 30mins-60mins to clock down, depending on what you are doing. So, no fibs, just the battery algorithm measuring the capacity and working out it is still above the mAh metric. The ML then has to recalibrate as the mAh falls at expected rates, so we see a faster decline for a while before the AI settles on the actuality of the data. Both are great now and any difference is mainly down to the S23U having superior 2023 components, e.g. X70 modem (20-30% better battery), latest eco-display (16% better than iPhone), latest LPDDR5X RAM (10-20% greater efficiency versus iPhone), etc. The iPhone 15PM will have these more efficient features as well as a larger battery and a 2023 chip, rather than the A16 (which is basically an overclocked A15 from 2021). Can Qualcomm continue the efficiency jump or was this a one-off battery upgrade due to multiple improved features? Ergo, will Apple zoom ahead again? We will have to see if the A17 is any good.

Could you preform this test again with both phones on a 5G Network?

It’s easy just take out the battery from the iphone and remove the bms board from battery the soldered it to the battery you want to use like lithium iron batter , 18650 or like batteries which are used in clock or remote ( yah but they have to be same volts as the apple battery Yah but it will not show the real battery percentage

With 700mah more battery yeah it should win but not by 12 sec atleast 45min.. But yeah never been this close

S23 is wayyyyyy better when it comes to gaming, 14 thermal throttles very quickly. So I'm getting the s23.

It is interesting to see a comparison of the discharge after different charging currents. for example a unit 20 W, 5 W, 1 W. Compare how phones are discharged after them. Perhaps you need to do several discharges, they say the smartphone lasts longer when charging with a small current
