I know this video is 3 years old now but about a year ago my wife's S7s battery got punched and I had to get to new S9s but she had over 1k pictures of our young kids and stuff on her S7 With this video I was able to pull her mother board and put it in to my old S7 and get everything off of her mother board. So thank you so much for doing what you do!

I'm still using mine, it definitely does get hot when gaming but it doesn't seem to mess with the proformance too much, it plays Minecraft pe perfectly fine and Call of duty mobile, Pubg mobile on the other hand used to run perfect about 3 years ago but now its almost unplayable. We'll see how much longer the phone last, I got it in 2019.

I fix phones in a repair shop and know about the difficulty of safely removing the OLED screen without damaging it. It isn't impossible but it requires more consistent heat than a typical heat gun can offer and avoiding using metal tools near the corner like that. OLEDs are safe with temperatures of up to 100-105 Celsius on a heat plate or a heat gun with temperature controls. I like to start from the top and work my way to the bottom with business cards, leaving the soft key lights cables for last because they become visible. It's certainly harder with the Edge screens but not impossible either, just requires more patience and a delicate touch. Also, for removing the back glass, you can avoid scraping the paint like that by lifting the glass a bit more and then using either a guitar pick or card to loosen the adhesive. You can get away with it on white phones with some white-out to cover up but better to not scrape it at all!
@schantzee5733
@schantzee5733 8 лет назад
+enos218 I typically replace the oled/digitizer assembly, not just the glass. Assuming you have the expensive machinery and high skill required to perform a glass only repair, it seems separating and cleaning the oled may be easier than usual but I can't be sure how they are attached based on this video. This isn't a phone that I would recommend a DIY repair on with the exception of maybe replacing the back glass, cameras, or rear camera lens. Anything requiring screen removal you should take to a repair shop or honestly have insurance on it.

Ben O'Sullivan My girlfriend's best friend took my girlfriend's s7 and dropped it and the internal screen broke. Now my girlfriend's mother tries to convince my girlfriend that it's not worth the money to replace the screen and wants to buy my girlfriend a new phone, the Redmi 5. The Redmi costs 200 € while the screen costs 170€. Am I the only one that finds thus stupid? I wanted to ask for your opinion because you said you work at a repair place.
@benosullivan2013

@stratischarisiadis6303 6 лет назад
Ben O'Sullivan But to change from the s7 to the Redmi 5? Even after the repair I believe it will be a downgrade
@Flow_Moonlight
@Flow_Moonlight 6 лет назад
That's a huge downgrade in performance, camera, screen, call quality, LTE speeds and many samsung based features such as samsung pay and secure folder. Its better to just fix the screen. There's no new $200 smartphone that can outperform an old galaxy s7 no matter the test even if you step up to a new $300 budget smartphone, you'd still loose out on many things.

I successfully removed the LCD without damaging it. It's definitely feasible. Then I successfully removed the broken glass, using a hot plate and molybdenum wire. Then cleaned all the old loca off the screen. Screen was still working fine. Applied new loca and glass panel, no problems. But then I went to install the refurbished LCD back into the frame, and that's when it cracked! Alignment seemed good, so I dunno know what went wrong, but the LCD is so thin. I won't be doing glass only replacement on the S7, too hard. :-/

In case someone is curious to disassembly this phone the AUTHORIZED way we do it at our Repair Centre: 1. Make sure you heat up the edges all over first with the heat gun. It has to be heated up evenly for the adhesive to release easier. 2. Once heated up attach the suction cup and slightly try pulling gently with very little force and if it won't move at all try heating up more until it starts moving and insert your thin plastic opener tool (knife is not a good idea what he used in the video u can damage components inside). 3. This way it comes off very easily, although there is NO WAY TO AVOID SCRATCHING THE BACK COVER AS HE DID TOO at 0:44 while removing it. Basically the back cover is just a piece of plastic that has that kind of very thin coloured foil or paint. What we do at our repair centre is we always put a new one on, freshly lasered on the serial number etc. In real life you wouldn't need a serial number, but order a new back cover always if you do it for customers. :) PS: Other than that nicely done!
