with the popularity of oversized watches in the regular watch segment, i wonder why so many reviews speak negatively of the 5 pros size. i know its not for everyone, but it is a selling point for a lot people.
I like big watches too, and I'm not a big guy. To me the watch is not at all too big width wise, however it is noticeably thicker my guess due to the larger battery. That said, I love it. Very sharp looking as compared to the Watch 4 which always struck me as more of a fitness watch. You'll be happy.
@@mattterry30 I like big watches as well. I have a few Invictas that are 52mm and larger. They make phone screens bigger, why not watch displays? I'm looking forward to getting mine. I'm starting wish I had purchased the gray instead of the black.
Thank you for this comment. I was thinking the same thing. I was waiting for the pixel watch but that small size and style is NOT for me. Galaxy watch 5 pro it is
@@TheGloryOfXbox I'm in the same boat as you. I really hoped the pixel watch would be bigger. I guess the logic is,a smaller screen/size suits more people then the larger screen/size fits a smaller demographic.
The best part of this watch is the band, it's great and once you get it right, you can't use other watches with regular bands. I had the watch 5 and took it back to try the watch 5 pro and feel in love
To sum it up: a man walks into a restaurant, orders a steak, then complains that it's not a burger. 2:42 got completely diff experience w the band (just like every reviewer i saw). No issues, no pinching anything, don't even understand how can you manage to do that. It's obviously harder to push down to adjust since it's friction based, but if you open it it's easier to reach the tab. It's very light and comfy, don't even feel it. In fact the watch is VERY light. It's not even close to a decent automatic. Luckily Samsung has smaller options for those who want a SMALLER one. Who would buy a BIG watch then complain that it's big? Although I've seen ppl buying a large phone and complaining that it's large. 🤦♂ Also, why would one take the band apart to charge it?? The charger can charge it sideways and you have a bedside clock, or can charge while getting ready in the morning so it doesn't matter if it's flat, or get a charger stand or get it w a diff band. Unless yours arrived with w a wireless charger only, and even then you can unclip it from the lugs in seconds.
I love the band on this watch 5 Pro. It is so simple to adjust and put on and off. I would love to get another one of different color. I have never wore a watch to bed untill I got the Watch 4, now the 5 Pro, have no problem with wearing it to bed at all, never notice it's there. What I am really dissapointed in it is it does not have the BP like on a cuff like so many RU-vid videos shows it has.
He is unlocking the whole band which is just stupid when is design to be loosen with the magnet 😅. You rarely have to unlock it fully and I have no idea why he is doing it
He definitely doesn't know how to properly use it. Once the fit is set you don't need to touch the clasp again just pull the magnet, hence the "magnetic" in the name.
Just a tip. These types of bands are supposed to be taken off just by opening the clasp and sliding the watch off your hand. You don’t need to take it apart.
Yeah, I didn't get his complaint on this. Once you set it up the first time, all you'll need to do is pull the magnetic end, and thats it. Granted, the inner latch to adjust is very tight (so I understood that part) but once you find your fit, you literally don't have to adjust it anymore.
I got mine in yesterday. No issues with the magnetic clasp band. Once you have it adjusted it's comfy and easy to take off/put on. Even the adjustment part was easy. Not sure what he's talking about with "arduous and painful experience." I hope he's discovered that he's doing it wrong. Edit: Then I saw the Amazon affiliate link to the band he recommends you replace it with. Hmmmmm.
A little harsh on the band. The band comes unlocked so you can easily slide it and clamp it, then to unclamp it don't use your nail, use the strap clamped as leverage and the clamp will openly seamlessly to get you precise size.
I just switched from iPhone 12pro max and an apple watch 4 so it is different for sure. I don't feel like the buckle is cumbersome at all. Once I was able to fix it initially, I just put it on easily. The initial band setup took me like 3 minutes, but not a big deal. I guess it's all subjective in the end because I enjoy the watch 5 pro. I will say that I am keeping an eye on the google watch too though so maybe i'll sell this off if the Google watch ends up blowing me away lol
Did you end up staying with Samsung Watch, or did you end up switching to the Pixel Watch? I just got my Samsung Watch Pro 5 today, and this is literally the first video I've watched directly from their websites URL.
I find the default D-buckle band to be really, really comfortable. Once I got it adjusted, I haven't had to move it, and that's nice since I tend to land between the holes on a classic watch band. My biggest complaint about it is that it makes it very difficult for me to use my wireless charger and wireless power share because the watch doesn't sit flat with the band on. You can invert it and it lays ALMOST flat, but yeah, having to undo the band to charge is no bueno. I did wear it to bed last night and didn't find it obtrusive though . . .
In 2024 the watch 5 pro makes alot of sense. I like how you comment that play store is bare. I totally agree. You are probably the only reviewer who say it like it is. Good👍💯
Me too! But then you see the Amazon affiliate link to the band he recommends you replace it with and it all starts to make sense. I'll avoid this channel going forward.
I have had 4 of Samsung's watches and just got the 5 Pro yesterday. Like some others, I had to look up how the band worked but once I got it figured out, it totally made sense and I do really like it. This is BY FAR the best looking Galaxy Watch they have released imo. I will comment on the included docking station. With the stiff band on the watch, even taken apart, I could not get it to lay flat on the charger to actually charge. I ended up using the included small charger like I usually do. Maybe a different band will get me around this issue. Overall, the watch looks fantastic.
I have the Gear 3, Watch 4 Classic, and now Watch 5 Pro. The Gear 3 is still very good but going from the Watch 4 the Watch 5 in night and day. The Watch 5 Pro battery life is doubles the Watch 4 capacity. Sleeping app is so in tune now. The map to follow back is so good.
I think alot of people are exaggerating when they say its bulky, that why I went to see it in the store before I bought one, it's not bulky at all, little thicker than a normal watch, but nothing extreme, and it is surprisingly comfortable to wear. In the uk, Samsung said they would give £100 off if you trade in any smart watch in any condition, so I bought a 2nd hand v tech kids smart watch, and I've sent that in as the trade in, cost me £15. Hopefully they will accept it.
Yet no one mentions you can't charge the watch on the promo gift duo charger. Just got mine yesterday, and Samsung confirmed this, and recommends using the luck charger instead. Whaaaaa? What good is a promotional gift that doesn't work on the purchased?
Don't get a band until you try it. It's very good. He's recommending that other band via an Amazon affiliate link so he has incentive to say the band is trash. I have the Watch 5 pro and the band is awesome
I just recieved mine today and had no prior knowledge of this new band. I actually had to watch a video on how to adjust it. That said, after about 4 or 5 minutes I had it figured out with zero pinches. I find it now comfortable and easy to operate. My gripe however is it does not lay flat like my watch 4 band which will reduce my charging options.
I am not finding any options even 3rd party for the pro in the grey version. The bands I have seen dont seem to match color wise. If there was a stainless steel, it should add to the over all look of the watch.
The best thing of using the bezel is when you use it with one finger while the watch is on your wrist and not holding it in one hand and using your right hand finger to scroll. When you use it that way you don't really miss the bezel but in everyday use it will sure be missed.
This is still too much of an iterative update (near identical internals) - especially for those who like hiking for a day e.g. 7 hours' or more of GPS, but need a smaller watch e.g. smaller than 45mm and less chunky/flatter on the wrist. I'm going to wait and see what the Watch 6 series offers instead.
I have an older Galaxy Watch with the physical rotating bezel and I hate it. I wish I had gotten it without it. But I'm torn between getting this or waiting for the Pixel Watch
I am also tempted everytime i see the new galaxy reviews but owning the gear s2 classic for so long.. the pixel watch promises a fresh experience. I no longer own a samsung phone so the proprietary functions and apps of the gear s2 are annoying.
Lol.. Samsung has become a disgusting brand taking away all the good things (rotating bezel, MicroSD in phones). They really try to make us apple fan users. I have a GW4 Classic for one year now with rotating bezel and wanted to upgrade to the newest. But, guess who's not buying from you now Stupid Samsung?....
The band is fine. Do not replace it or buy a replacement band before you try it out. I have the watch5 pro and the band is superb. Very sus that you dis the band while recommending a fabric stretchy band (really?) that you link with an Amazon affiliate link. For a watch that is fitness/outdoors oriented a fabric band is the worst suggestion ever. Ever smell one of those after a few weeks. Yuck! IF the band thing was an innocent mistake on your part, then you have my sincere apologies. However, a tech review channel should do their due diligence and figure out how a watch band works before assuming that a company as large a Samsung would send out a trash band with their watches. Maybe go...hmmm this does not seem right. Maybe I should see if I'm doing this wrong before I post this RU-vid video?
Hi, it would be great if you or anyone could help, I'm a total noob in this and I don have so much time to research(two toddlers keep me real busy). Would love to get this for my husband but he is currently using Google pixel 5a phone. Can this model watch be paired with it without any issues? Thank u in advance.
I'm at a point to where I think anything dealing with Samsung, reviewers will just complain and complain lol. When it comes to Apple though....oh lord, it's like they are fucking Jesus or something. Samsung and it's users are just in a league of their own
they are all so huge. I have a very small wrist and in fact that watch is bigger. I would love to see different forms like ellipse or rectangular to better fit to small wrists. Hope for the future...
I am so frustrated with Google Pay and Samsung Pay in my Watch 5 Pro. Coming from the Gear Watch 3, I only had to use the Pin when using Samsung Pay. Now after configuring Google Pay, every time I try to use the watch, I am asked to unlock it with a Pin. I disabled the Pin in Security and it disabled Google Pay. Then I setup Samsung Pay and set the Pin, same thing, the watch asks for a Pin all the time. So it is not practical at all to use Samsung Pay or Google Pay in this watch. Very annoying. It should be like in the previous Gear Watch, use the Pin only when activating for use the Samsung Pay app. Please Google or Samsung, fix it!!!!
@@robert1222222 it should only require the pin for the Google Pay app as it is requested when you set it up. On Tizen the pin was only required with Samsung Pay
These videos are way too long (stretched), thus boring, and way too geeky. Plus, the presenter's voice I personally find rather annoying. Therefore, I'm unsubscribing from the channel.
Extremely surprised that you didn't like the strap. Wore mine for the first time today and the strap is light and comfortable. It almost feels like your not wearing a strap. It's a night and day difference between this and the 22mm straps with the belt holes.
He recommends a fabric stretchy band to replace it...via an Amazon affiliate link. Starting to make sense to you now? Some will see this review and before receiving the watch they'll order that junk band via his link. It's all about the $$$.
Does the Watch 5 have increased performance when compared to the Watch 4? I am holding out until December so that I can see if the Pixel Watch succeeds or not. A Galaxy watch will be my second choice if the Pixel Watch isn't as good as anticipated.
@@dragonwind5117 Thanks for that information. I believe that I could get the Watch 4 for a quarter of the price for the same hardware. That would be a better deal.
@@sethmedley5117 I hate the battery life of the 4, it's charge every day, means I can't use it to get sleep data or anything. I'm forgetting that my 5 has to be charged because how long mine us lasting
@@dragonwind5117 Well, since the Watch for is an older model, I can get it for $110 on Amazon versus the Watch 5 which is listed at $280 and $450 for the Pro. The watch 5 is ridiculously expensive for the same hardware as the Watch 4 but with a slightly better battery. So, unless the Watch 5 has a trick hidden up its sleeve, I think the Watch 4 is better from a pricing standpoint.
Clearly you've never tried a Garmin and you're a horrible candidate for the pro version of this watch. Why are you reviewing something that you would never use in your lifestyle? Samsung makes a very small version that fits you much better.
The best part of the watch is the band I love the ease to wear just find the sweet spot and use the magnet the bezel is nothing to me over better battery 🔋 life at 590MAH I'm in so I upgraded from a 4 classic but I love the strap and it's easier than a buckle strap
I'm not really into the watches as much as the phones when it comes to news and such but I have a galaxy active 2 and maybe now or in a year I'll get a new one. I'm not sure whats the newest watch for the active or what is basically the equivalent
I have the watch 4 and now the watch 5 pro and I love it! I still love the watch 4 but it's exclusively my work watch now because I work with my hands and don't want to damage my watch 5 pro.
Am i the only one who prefers Bixby over google in certain cases? There are some things i like more about Bixby, like not having to open your phone to call someone. That itself makes Bixby more desirable for me.
If Samsung has fixed the overheating issues on the LTE models (at least on the 3 and 4 I have both) the 5 would be worth the upgrade. Otherwise shame on them.
Early reports/testing indicate that the LTE overheating issues have been resolved. See here: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-hhVA70X0Wq4.html I have the LTE watch3 and it comes in handy. Personal use is very much dependent on this. I like being able to go on a run or walk the dog with no phone...but still have a phone on my wrist. LTE only kicks in when you lose Bluetooth connection. Going to test this out with the watc5 pro LTE version. If it tanks battery life, I'll return it and stick with my trusty watch3.
Contrary to the other poster, I have seen comments that the LTE issues have NOT been resolved and in that basis, that makes this retain three title of garbage where LTE is concerned.
@@Jor-El-Earth1 Please report back! Also, you mention not taking the phone with you. That was one of my use cases with the watch 4 but unless I'm mistaken, the way that number sharing works is such that the watch routes all communications back to the phone using the LTE connection for this data. That means that while you can leave the phone behind, they phone just be somewhere with a network connection and be powered up. Have you tried using the watch with the phone turned off? That was my other intended use case, phone off (flat battery or no service). Very disappointed with watch 4 LTE and laughable that Samsung Support claim that they problem for overheating is due to there being poor signal and therefore a network provider problem. Do they not understand that it's the watch that's mobile and could be anywhere and this is the watch that has to cope with variable signal levels? Their suggestion to contact my provider just made them look stupid or assume that I was stupid.
@@djtaylorutube Hi David. So far so good. My first two days with the 5pro I did not need to charge it. Taking into account that it went through initial activation, one update as well as all the extra playing around with it that you do when you get a new "toy", I think that is very good. Morning of day 3 it had about 9% battery left so on the charger it went. LTE is activated. I've done one walk with the dogs and left the phone behind. No issues although I forgot to test out making a call and sending a test text message when I was out but I've done that at home by turning my phone off and Wifi off on the watch. On T-Mobile it works seamlessly. I just get a little buzz buzz when I'm out of range of the phone and the LTE kicks in. No overheating noticed. I have used the watch 100% independent of the phone (phone turned off) and it works fine. This maybe T-Mobile specific. As I writing this I made a call and sent a text message while my phone was off and WiFi off on the watch so 100% LTE. kept it that way for about 15 minutes now and I'm not noticing any heat issues. It's hovering between 3 and 4 bars for LTE signal (not full 5 bars). Once I settle into a routine with this watch I'm estimating getting a solid 3 days per charge. I don't have AOD turned on but have it set to 1 minute stay on display. I have all the health things turned on plus sleep tracking with blood O2 and snore tracking turned on. I went from watch3 to this and the LTE was not an issue with that tizen watch. I skipped watch 4 because the first iteration of a new OS rarely works out well. I'm hoping to avoid buyers regret 6 months down the line. Fingers crossed. Hope this helps!
no way to add a Custom Ringtone from my Note 20 Ultra like on my Watch 3 and the original Watch before it.. there is NO + icon in the Ringtones option .. all those extraneous options and gizmos and gadgets and they don't have the Ringtone option--a basic.. like my new Watch 5 Pro .. like the D-Band.. that clasp is a PITA but only adjust it one time then it is all good.. don't use the Google Assistant so just leave it off....AND always leave Bixby OFF.. on my phones also.. as far as its size no problem as I've always worn large watches.. it sure needs more free watch faces as the few they offer are limited --disappointed in that
I love the strap. Once set to the correct tightness it's super easy to get on and off (unlike the Watch 4 I've just replaced) and it's very comfortable
