I was conflicted about upgrading from my Fold3 to the 4, but when I went to a Samsung shop and saw one in person, I instantly fell in love with the ever-so-slightly wider cover screen. I have some big hands, and that small difference meant so many less typos, even in the couple of minutes I tried it out in the store. I also, always carry my other phone with me for the cameras because the Fold3 left me disappointed often in comparison to my S22 Ultra's camera's. I'm definitely able to use my Fold4 a lot more now, where as I felt I needed to carry around both with my Fold3.
So, basically the Z Fold 4 camera is not bad, just the S22 Ultra is better. But the price for the Z Fold is really high and you don't have flagship-level specs.
When the Note Series was initially released, it was considerably more expensive than its S series counterpart. As the gap in price diminished, the Note became more and more popular, eventually merging with the S series. As Samsung is offering enhanced trade-ins, the cost is more affordable to enter the foldable market. The more units sold, the sooner Samsung recoups their R&D expenses and the more they invest in future improvements. That will mean that the premium we pay for a foldable will decrease with each generation.
I am a z fold 4 user and .. samsung must give an update for the camera to improve low light photography !! Im very disappointed .. The image remaster did the good job in its gallery app ,, .. They can easily resolve this man !!
Yeah no lol.. You seem like a nice guy but you're definitely leaning biased over fact. The Ultra 22 is the better daily driver n camera. While the fold is a tad faster the Ultra 22 is more powerful! Not to mention the folds reputation for holding up and lasting speaks for itself. It's so bad I had the cell phone reps literally talk me out of it and it's always been the more expensive phone. That's saying something!
Would've said the Fold4 was better but the latest One UI 5 beta fixed every highlight and HDR issue the S22 Ultra had. Making the S22 Ultra identical to your Fold4 samples + higher resolution and 10x optics.
I'm just confused how a $1800 premium device's camera is the lesser of a $1100 device. Its great to be cutting edge tech don't get me wrong ... But when your device costs that much....it should be near perfection or at least has top tech in camera, specs , or take Q's from OPPO, Huawei, Vivo or Xiaomi with their foldables. Overall I enjoyed this comparison and I do genuinely like the uniqueness the fold series offers But I always found that so strange Samsung would cut that corner
The fold 4 is not even on the same level as the S22. People will pay more for less these days. The screen alone makes it a bad investment for that kind of money because it still creases
I have had my fold 4 for about a month now upgrading from a note 20 ultra. Got to say I'm super happy with the fold so far. The form factor folded is great in comparison, no sharp edges in you hip crease for example. The sound and screen is fenomenal, and so is the pictures. One thing though about taking photos. The fold lacks laser focus unlike both the note 20 ultra and the s22 ultra which makes getting focused is sometimes a little wonky. Great phone over all and fantastic for media consumption.
The fold 4 was a very nice upgrade from the fold 2. But if ur going from a f3 to f4, I really wouldn't see to much reason to upgrade. F2 does not have s pen option, it shows the inner camera black hole at top, also the f2 max storage capacity was 256gb, where as the f4 offered a 512gb storage capacity. And I am loving the android 12 L software that the f2 may or may not get. I'm sure the f3 will get that 12 L software but I have doubts for f2. So with all those upgrades, that was good enough for me to upgrade. I am very very happy upgrading to the f4.
I don't think this is the right time to buy a fold phone. Because the display is not durable. It can be easily crash. For that much money i don't think prefer to buy fold phones.
The thing that's holding me back on buying a Fold is the lack of a 10x periscope camera. After owning the S21 Ultra I don't know if I'd be satisfied without such amazing zoom capabilities
Move closer? As a photographer I use prime lenses... A LOT. Just move closer lol... problem solved bud, thank me later. I'm not sure what you need telescopic capabilities in a phone for. A dslr or mirrorless will always be superior. Enjoy the device for what it is, a damn good PHONE.
@Ygor Cortes lol don't understand what he told you but if I were you I'd buy the fold 5 I just bought the 4 and I'm gonna keep it as I also have 14 pro max this phone isn't as good as the 23 ultra but I think it just stands out. Hopefully they make it curved display soon
Don't buy this phone.... If you do you will never feel happy with candy bar shaped phones again and will find them boring. I've had all the Samsung Fold phones using the Samsung Trade-in Program. If you pay cash for the first one you buy the trade in process will work to your favor. Thank you for your great video on the Folds.
This video prompted me to go on eBay and see how people were pricing the Fold 4... Just snagged one! I'm impressed that the camera can hold its own as well as it seems to. That, and price, has always been the drawback for me on foldables.
The Z Fold 4 is absolutely perfect 💯 for the money 💰 it takes to get it!! Plus, if you trade a phone in you get a pretty hood deal. Especially if you did the pre-order!!! Love this phone!!! It's AWESOME 👌!!!!!!!!!
HI Dany as always great content! I live here in Southeast Asia and we already received 2nd Patch this Aug, with ending VH9 on build no. This even out the processing and dynamic range with Fold 4 as with the saturation with advantage in s22U on overall details.
Samsung just released big camera update last week around 1gb+ for S22 series, I got it on my regular S22, since I don't really use camera much so I can't tell the difference but you may want to do revisit camera review and see if there's any improvement or not this time
I don't really trust that kind of screen it have, in my opinion it still experimental, I will consider it the 20th version of that, to see the real endurance of the device screen
Finally a worthy camera system on the Fold4. Is it the same as in Flip4? And is this the same as in S22? I guess the latest Snapdragon has a changed ISP, that could explain some of the difference in image processing.
I tried the Z Fold 4 alongside my S22 Ultra and ended up sending the fold back since some of the apps I use frequently aren't optimized well for the inner screen at all. Kind of regret sending it back though since it was such a cool device.
I can see that. I am not a super heavy app user so everything is working well for me since you can force everything to be full screen now easily in the settings. I am just so used to this form factor now using a Samsung device it’s hard to go back. Camera was my only downside and now that’s not an issue.
Lol I think u did something wrong When I restored a backup to my fold4 I ended up to have 320 apps so I have to erase them But by curiosity I decided to do app test I went over 240ish plus app that I opened not even a single app aspect ratio was bad . So I think something went wrong with u while the setup
@@kdubspencer3390 I did. But can't help how some things are. Snapchat was always wonky for recipients. I know it's a minor thing, but still an optimization issue.
idk i feel like paying 500$ more for a phone just for it to go toe to toe or "almost as good", isnt good enough, we all wanna believe money isnt an object but it is and will influence our decisions, especially since if you want a tablet, you would just get a tablet....but for everyday basic essentials and camera it comes out the same or "almost as good" for 500 extra, that 500 can be used to buy assessories to make your s22 ultra/s22+/22 more enjoyable via headphones or a watch maybe etc
I'm going to watch the video when I'm not in a restaurant, but after a week with my Fold, my answer is an emphatic: NO. They're not bad, but there's definitely something...off, and it's not just the zoom, either. Focusing on close objects is sometimes a struggle, and the flash at night...ugh. Anyway, looking forward to actually getting to see your thoughts. 🙂
Hello "folders", I used to own a Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 3 but I decided to sell it because it couldn't make or upload RU-vid shorts. The RU-vid app didn't show the "create short" button. Does it work on the 4, 5 or 6? Thanks for answering
I like the contrasty look of s22 ultra, there image processing pipeline can still use a lot of work but, you cant have both brighter shadows or contrast, it has to be a good balance
Thx but no thx. The Fold still does not make sense to me. On the go, the S22 is still more ideal and convenient. You don't need to unfold it to enjoy watching a video. The video size is the same considering the thick black bars on the Fold. No crease. And no, I will not be utilizing the full screen when watching RU-vid videos on the Fold because it significantly cuts a big portion of the video with its weird aspect ratio. Also love the built in S pen on the S22 Ultra. Display and camera is better on the S22 Ultra. When at home, I have my Tab S8 Ultra, and the Fold can't hold a candle to Tab S8 Ultra on video watching and multitasking. The ONLY reason one would want to buy the Fold is to stand out among the crowd.
Omg the case add is so cringy: 2:04 - major win to have a stand so you can put your phone in front of you when catching up with family, my mama would whoop my ass for being anti-social, and she would be right to do so. The other reason for putting it on the desk during business meetings, if you want to get fired for coming off like you absolutely do not give a damn about what is discussed in the meeting. 2:11 - if you want to protect your "investment", investment?!? I am not sure what asset depreciates in value quicker than a mobile phone! 2:37 - What does it even mean for a phone case to be "career exclusive", seriously is this a good or bad thing? 2:41 - Brand. new 2022 smartphone, case with a credit card slot? Nobody uses physical cards anymore since the very thing this case tries to protect has replaced them. No offensive Danny, keep up the good videos, its just that theses ads make me laugh sometimes due to how insane they actually are...
Wow #1 you took a lot of time to analyze the product placement so thanks for the extensive engagement 🤣 #2 You might still be near your mama but my family lives far away so I have to “catch up” with my family from a distance. Is that ok? #3 If you break your phone it is an investment because you have to invest in another one. Why would you not protect it? With trade-ins today a phone is an asset. Depreciating or not. #4 not “career” exclusive but KOREA exclusive. That case is not available in the US. Some people still use cards and that is OK. These cases are legit and I have been using Spigen with zero sponsorship for over 10 years. I was making videos of cases 10 years ago on a cell phone to get started. Next time you write something like this think about congratulating full circle accomplishments and not tearing people down.
@@suprxmefire9497 excellent battery life. Really good cameras, awesome multi-tasking, smooth gaming and watching video content is good. Surprisingly I use the phone 80% with the cover display and don't use the main display for everyday tasks so that's a major advantage for me I feel. That's y I chose the fold over flip.
In just about everyone's review of the Galaxy fold 4 versus the 13 and 14 pro iPhones basically in most situations the camera on the fold 4 beat out the iPhone!! Just about every category.. That's awesome!! So now it's not only the Samsung have the best phones which they've had for a long time now.. They now have the best cameras.. The best innovation. Where is Apple is just the same old crackers the same old strip down version of Unix so they can save money on hardware coming to you from a computer engineer.. No innovation nothing new always two or three years behind flagship Android or Samsung Android.. It just makes me laugh why people keep paying for basically the same phone over and over again from iPhone.. And nope they're operating system is not better anymore.. It's not even a full featured fully customizable multitasking beast like a desktop or a laptop like the Samsung Galaxy fold 4 and other flagship Android phones.. Not even close.. And then you got Dex desktop which is unbelievable turning your phone and any monitor into a desktop computer. And much more!!
The S Pen of the Note 20 was too small for my fingers. If the S Pen Fold edition is bigger that is greatly appreciated (even if it doesn't fit it the body).
I got that bottom taskbar on my Tab S8 Ultra, so I assume it is coming to the Fold3 and other devices. I turned it off as it was a nuisance. I note a lot of Samsung channels are pushing this feature hard; I was underwhelmed so am a bit suspicious. If you need something like that you have had DeX mode for a while. I suppose this was in the notes Samsung sent for YT creators to highlight due to the rather iterate upgrade? Anyway, it ain't as great as YT influencers are hyping. I feel that the Fold4 is great tech and kudos to Samsung. It is not for me as there are too many compromises and the price is a joke. However, on that latter point, already after a week, on eBay, new Fold4s are selling for £500 off. The law of supply and demand gives us an equilibrium of true worth, so about £500 off the £1650 seems to be how much we should pay. At that price I would not put you off. It is inevitable, based on the Fold3, that the price will continue to fall as novelty wears off, so maybe even cheaper soon.
I have both and there is more noise and lower sharoeness and detailed images on the fold 4 and it definitely has a worse camera. This video is biased, probably sponsored to influence fold 4 take up.
Watching on my fold4 and it definitely changed my mind. Now that Samsung was fired from making Qualcomm chips tsmc is elevating their phones. I think the s23u will be a beast and I may trade my fold 4 in for that one anyway just because of the form factor when watching content. Those black bars suck..
THIS!.. Love how that always gets left out by the Fold fan boys. Beyond super annoying! I'm sorry but I even wanted a Fold and Samsung really missed the mark on upgrading this one. It should be better than the Ultra and it shouldn't be close but I guess that's Ludicrous to ask lol. Ppl get super biased because their pHoNe cAn fLeX but truth be told those upgrades really aren't that significant over the last Fold. At least not in my eyes.
I have the fold 4 and I'm addicted to it tbh, I can't see myself going back to a normal form factor. Maybe I'm just a sucker for the tech, I've always been the person in my friend group to overspend on flashy tech, but still. All the the problems I was worried about going into it either don't bother me at all or I don't notice. Great phone. Still needs big price reduction to go mainstream, but maybe it's fine where it is. Maybe it doesn't need to be more mainstream.
Please give me one phone I agree even if it is an iPhone 10 I swear I can't buy a phone I own an iPhone SE first generation please 🥺🥺 I've been following you for more than a year and a half but from an abundant family😓😞
The Fold 5 needs dust resistance, outer screen needs the width similar to the S22, S-Pen built in, bigger battery, UFS 4.0, and 5-10X telephoto zoom, 40MP selfie wide camera, Samsung needs better video capture for all of its S, Flip and Fold phone products, and reduced weight.
Returning mine today. There definitely are improvements over the Fold 3 but for me, it's not enough to justify the cost. $500 after trade ins is too much for the minimal upgrade I see with it. I have no complaints with the device at all, it just isn't the upgrade I kind of hoped it might turn out to be. It probably will be wonderful for other people who really want updated cameras, and I definitely noticed the camera upgrade and even the inner screen underscreen camera technology. That's a really cool feature. Maybe if they release some different colors I'll consider it but for me, I'm sticking with the 3 and keeping my S22 Ultra as a side piece.
I've been waiting for this video since the fold launched. I have a few days left to decide if I'm returning it or trading in my s22U and cracked fold 3. I'm nervous mainly because cameras especially with the new update coming out for the s22U.
Really on the fence about keeping my S22 Ultra, or grabbing a S23 Ultra or Fold 4. I'm a Jeweler and color accuracy is the most important thing on the camera. the S22 Ultra still needs adjusting in Pro mode with some stones that I use. I draw a lot and the bigger screen would be amazing since I travel a lot. Out of the three phones which one is spot on for color accuracy? Thanks, and you still have the best videos!!
The slim armor pro just trapped dust and debris on my Fold, if you care about wiping your phone down ever I would not get it! especially for the retail price. The adhesive strips are a pain to deal with. The front edge of the screen cracked on the carpet.
