There is plastic over the glass (and I don't mean the factory fitted screen protector). Jerry Rig did a test and actually it makes sense from a safety point of view (no glass shards if broken)
My Fold 4 was PERFECT and i fell asleep one night with my phone in closed position in my bed under my heavy comforter and next to the baseboard heating, and when i woke up and opened my phone i heard a crinkle sound and all of a sudden there is a huge separation and air bubble going all the way down the middle. Same as 1st video. I keep taking a card and pressing out the long bubble from top to bottom and as long as i keep the phone open its fine, Also if its cold out (winter here in NJ) i can close and open fine. As soon as the temp gets warmer then 65ish and i close the phone it comes right back along with that horrible crinkle sound!! I have a samsung factory and repair pretty close, I'm going to call them and see if i can get it replaced before i take it off... Wow do i want to take it off its driving me crazy like this!!!!
It just happened to me today! I'm not sure to take off the screen protector. Or wait to purchase a replacement. Is really uncomfortable using the main screen with that line of air in between the phone. By the way I have a year with my z fold 4
I hear you. I had it happen twice and just wanted to see what it would be like if I took it off. I don't regret it, but it can be a little scary at first. If you can find some way to replace it then I'd recommend doing that but if not just be extra careful and you should be good.
The best thing you can do is leave it on or put a new one believe me if you leave it off no matter how you baby your phone some how that inter screen will get scratch or damage somehow I did the same thing and somehow a scratch got on the screen but I made Samsung Repair it so if you're not gonna put another one, be very careful.
I appreciate the tips. It just didn't behoove me to leave it on at the point it was that since when I was opening it the screen protector was sticking together and pulling on the inner glass. Eventually I'm going to trade the device in but I also do have a protection plan on it it's just that before to 6 week late is not ideal when I have to conduct business using my phone.
Oh no believe me I appreciate it. I'm just a little fed up with Samsung's warranty processes since they don't take into account that people need to use their devices. I just wish they would adopt the Amazon route and send you a new device and if you don't send the old one back then they would charge you but they seem to unwilling to work with me on that cell I'll have to keep it for now
man there is no reasone for you to have to send it in to get a sceen protector they should send you one. with any other phone ypu would be able to get one frome ebay and put it up thhere why shpould this be any diffrent.
I agree. It's not that I couldn't aquire one myself, but apparently, because of the middle crease, they're not the easiest to get right. Eventually, I'll just trade the phone in and let them deal with whatever happens.
and i did notice soon as i took it off i also noticed more clear screen and easyer to clean the grip of the screen goes away after couple of device screen cleaner now its smooth like closed display but dont spray direct on screen spray onto screen cleaner cloth then wipe then dry it with dry screen cloth
soon as i got my Fold 5 i took my screen protector film off cause its only on there to protect against scratches and since i baby all my phones i never get scratches so thats reason i took mine off and ive had it since 3 days before release i got mine 3 days early from release and i have 0 scratches so yeah XD
Thanks for sharing this. I'm going to wait till mine comes off but it's good to know that you haven't had any issues. Oh yes the early release. I had that happen with my Fold 4!
