Sergio Bustamante is one of Mexico's most famous surrealist artists, whose sculptures and jewelry collections are shipped from his main gallery in Tlaquepaque, Jalisco to buyers around the world.
Originally from the city of Culiacán, Sinaloa, Bustamente was raised by his grandfather, a Chinese immigrant named José Chong, who became a lifelong inspiration.
When he was nine years old he moved to Guadalajara, where, motivated by his love for painting and the different ways in which spaces can intertwine, he began studying architecture. But he soon realized that fine art was his true passion and at the age of 17 he presented his first public exhibition.
He then moved to Amsterdam to continue his profession as an artist, perfecting his craft in the Dutch city for two years before returning to Mexico.
La Casa Galeria was founded in 1975 in Tlaquepaque Jalisco, where the artwork of Sergio Bustamante is exhibited and sold. He created his own style of surrealist craftsmanship, very striking and original, of metal, ceramic and jewelry pieces.
