Great job... I cant wait to get my kits done. Unfortunately all the good kits with nicely cut receivers are dried up ....if u want one now it's gonna cost u 600-900 but still worth it to have a all og galil .
I'm doing a galil sar reweld right now. Paid $300 for the barrel and the gd journal for the gas block isnt in the right spot. I'm gonna have to get the barrel turned down.
Totally hypothetical question, is it legal to have just a receiver rewelded by another individual/business? Had my eye on a beautiful Galil kit, milled receiver w. *very clean cuts, but I'm not an accomplished welder in any way. Would a welder/business ever take on a simple little job like that? Of course, everything on the level, buttoning up the fun hole/etc... Awesome piece!
Since it would be the manufacturing of a firearm it would have to be done by a 07. An individual can manufacture their own personal firearm adhering to NFA and state laws but a 07 is who can build it for you legally.
@proteusarmaments5720 well brother, those are priceless, I need to make myself some as well. Very nice job. Thank you for the answer back. Love the videos. Take care.!!!
I used ER-70S2 and a remote pedal, so I cannot comment on the actual amperage. I avoid trying to reheat treat by using my pipe welding experience. Go slow and spread the heat evenly instead of welding it all at once and bringing the temperature up very fast over the whole piece.
Is there a reason to reweld besides the money savings ? I see a milled cut receiver going for more than a new receiver in an auction right now so there will be no savings in that build. Is this a way to get a full auto rifle without the FFL requirements ?
With rewelds, the person who put it together (who has to be the owner) is considered the manufacturer and therefor the receiver is basically the equivalent to an 80% lower or a “ghost gun” as the media likes to say. The only person who knows you own it is you. Also you can take pride in knowing you built the rifle all by yourself
