The Ts A75 reviews well. 75 into 8 ohm . 100 into 4 ohm. 200,000 microfarads in capacitance. Dampening factor… 100… I think about the CHoco Emei. 138 watts into 8 ohms. A single 400 watt toroidal transformer. 6800 x 2 in microfarads of capacitance. No dampening factor given. I would like to know how these compare.
Very helpful, thanks for this. I'm wondering whether the TS120 with other (stock?) tubes will blow the TS-A75 out of the water. Any thoughts on this? How about the TS-A20 vs TS-A75?
DO NOT BUY PS VANE !!!!!!! Go with the A75. I'll be honest. Sonic signatures are so similar its not funny. Saved yourself A LOT of "money for nothing" and" just turn on, tune, in, & drop out"
I only had it for week. I had to ship it back to TeeJay. My impressions won't change on a second listen. Black Ice Audio has the FX10H and F11 Amps which are Integrated Amps at cheaper and slightly more expensive alternatives. I'm not a fan of the sideways XLR or the button instead of a switch (or no switch in case of the ArgentPur/Orchard Audio solid silver wired Amps that I build). Just don't plug items into both inputs at once 🤔
Yeah....the KT170's Tubes aren't cheap and I use 8 of them on my Black Ice Audio F100 Monoblocks. While I get what Thomas is trying to achieve with these Tube Amps. I don't need all the Bells and Whistles it has along with the WEIGHT !!! Another issue we've been having is the PS Vane tubes are junk on his Amps. But Russian tubes made by Electro Harmonix or Tung Sol are Rock Solid (but more money of course).
I did the comparison changing nothing in the signal path except the Amps. Sonically, they were so similar it wasn't funny. But I'll take the weight savings and sheer complexity (sucks) of SMPS Power Supply over a well designed, clean, and easy to troubleshoot Toroidal based Linear Power Supply :-)
