I absolutely love hearing Brandon on an acoustic guitar. This is Brandon’s element and he brings the sole of these beauties out. They will walk and talk when Brandon gives them love and and brings out their Mojo. This is a Great GOTD with Jen and Brandon.

Gallagher guitars are fantastic. I have two--a G-70 and a GA-72--and they both sing! The resonance, sustain, and overtones are jaw dropping. Actually a little surprised Joe is letting his go. Of course, always love when Brandon steps in while ML is elsewhere, and today's GotD was excellent as usual. Thanks to you all, and I hope you all have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays!

JW's son Don ran the business and made guitars until he gave over the role to his son, Stephen. The Gallaghers made guitars in Wartrace, Tn. (a town of about 600) from the late 1960's until production was moved to nearby Murfreesboro in recent years. They are still being made in Murfreesboro. These Doc Watson models show their best qualities when played with a driven flatpick. They have phenomenal resonance, projection, balance, and articulation. They are very hard to overpower. They are also uncommonly beautiful instruments.

JW Gallagher had a son named Don, not Merle. Doc Watson's son was named Merle. I own a 1976 Gallagher G70 and Don did some repair work on it for me at the Gallagher shop in Wartrace. I still have it to this day and it sounds better than ever.

JW’s son who worked with him is Don , Merle was Doc’s son who died in a farming accident. I spent a bit of time with the Gallagher family I’m related to them . Just a cute story - A famous guitar player ( who shall remain anonymous) liked JW’s work and wanted one , but he wanted JW to give it to him , absolutely not JW said I get paid for my work . He wouldn’t even give me a discount. He and Don were proud of their work .

Saw and played a Gallagher many years ago at Stan Jay’s shop in Staten Island. I am a Martin guy but the Gallagher blew me away. Someone needs to own this piece of history. A remarkable guitar.

Doc Watson started out on a Les Paul but when he was signed to a record deal it was the height of the Folk Movement and they made him switch to acoustic.

I own the Gallagher Doc Watson signature custom,very lucky! Even more lucky having billy strings play the shit out of it. Lovely guitar you got there and funny story about slash 😂 The son name is Don,FYI.

Beautiful playing I found out about this guitar maker on my first visit to see my dad who lives in McMinville TN and on the way there you go passed Murfreesboro TN and where Gallagher guitars are made and some day I will own one I feel it only fits due to my surname “Gallagher”

Back in the late 70s I owned a japanese made Angelica copy of a Gallagher. The headstock had a gothic A instead of G. I played the s**t out of it.

I’m so glad the Gallagher family sold the company to him. He has such a passion for what he is doing. The company couldn’t be in better hands in my opinion. Have had the chance to see/play the new Tele style electric guitar they are making?
