Mic + Cab sound comparison
Gallien Krueger Legacy 800 vs EBS Reidmar 502
Only the same controls on both amps was used!
GK has Bump and Presence filters, as Drive channel that was not used in this test.
EBS has Compressor/Limiter and Bright pot that was not used in this test.
EBS Middle EQ was set to exact frequencies that GK has - 250Hz and 1 kHz

The Reidmar is a very nice amp, but the GK won for me again, often by far! Maybe the EBS would cut better in the mix because of its more prominent mids, but soloed it sounds kind of boxy compared to the GK. The only time I found the the EBS on par with the GK is at 4:00 / 4:13. I'm just a fan of GK's EQ design, it always sounds good, no matter how you dial the knobs. And it sounds great with everything flat already.

In this comparison, the GK may sound better than the EBS, but more important is the matching with the cabinet.

I proudly own a Reidmar 502. never heard a clearer amplifier in my opinion. Also the Reidmar is a great pedal platform which much of my tone comes from and then I use the eq for finishing touches. GK is equally great as I really like like upper mid thump that you get from them. great comparison. Both great amplifiers.

To my ears, the GK sounds clearer maybe more medium but well managed. The EBS sounds more bassy surprisingly, rounder. Thank you for this great comparison.

I liked both amplifiers - each of them has its own zest. But, we must admit that Gallien Krueger in all cases sounds brighter, juicier or something.

The GK is subjectively louder in this comparison, I guess you gain normalized all the recordings, but the EBS produces more low end which when normalized makes it sound lower, the added low end produced by the EBS is very noticeable on larger studio monitors ! Great comparison nonetheless, thanks ! Both amps seem very capable, I would get the EBS for the price difference, low end and it comes with a nifty side handle and a rear vs side mounted fan. Edit: I'm actually getting a 502 to pair with an Eden 410XST cab in the next few weeks.

Good comparison. I have the EBS Microbass pedal so I thought I’d prefer the Reidmar but the GK just takes it for me. Not enough to rush out and buy inexpensive now, but if Im ever looking for a new amo that might be where I go.

Hey thanks for the vid, an fyi, the Reidmar in this comparison wasnt flat. I'm pretty sure the bright knob is flat at 0, it was rasied 50% in this video.

Yes, You're right. Bright was on half. I tried it on 0, and it was a bit muddy. Even with Bright at 10, the difference is not very noticeable.

really hard to compared the 2 because the EQ don't have the same boost and cut volume. at first i thought that the bass eq on the reidmar made the amp super muddy compared to the gallien Krueger which is weird as EBS always had that reputation of being a bright hi fi sounding amp. but then you look into it and see that EBS eq are usually 18 db boost and cut whereas the GK is 10db. so off course with similar setting the EBS seems to boost or cut way more than the GK. i think if you want to do drastic eq that transform entirely the sound of your bass, go EBS. if you like the sound of your bass and only need eq to do minor tweaking to your sound then go GK.
