The Galloping Ghost Arcade in Brookfield, IL (western suburb of Chicago) houses the largest arcade in the world. Nearly 900 arcade cabinets are set to free play. It costs $25/person for all you can play for that day. It is awesome because you can just walk to any machine and start playing. Since you do not have to fear wasting quarters/money, you might just find your new favorite game this way. It is also a friendly place. Since many games are 2-4 players, ask someone to join you when playing Smash TV, TMNT, NBA Jam, or Blitz.
Also, there is Galloping Ghost Pinball down the street. There is even a bundle price offer if you wanted to play in both the Arcade and the Pinball facility down the road.
GG recently expanded their arcade to display additional games.
This is a walkthrough visual tour of the entire space. I wanted to try and provide a sense of scale, direction, and scope so I added some text subtitles to help guide the experience.
This video was taken in the summer of 2022. The arcade is always growing and changing so it will be interesting what it looks like 1, 5, and 10 years from now.
The Ghost is awesome and wanted to make this video because I am a fan of this place. Before you know it, 4 hours have blown by and you forgot to drink or eat anything. Speaking of food/drink, you cannot bring any outside food/drink into the arcade but you are allowed to leave and re-enter as long as you have your receipt. There are plenty of places on and around Odgen Ave to grab a bite and return to the arcade.
