Latest 4th poll announced on TV within the last hour and on the internet. Labour 35% falling and will fall over next 2 weeks once reality sets in. Not really. Blair’s New Labour maybe, but not the Labour Governments of the past. For example, I believe Harold Wilson told Lyndon B. Johnson to sling his hook in the 1960s when he tried to get Britain involved in Vietnam.

Door knocking (aka canvassing) is an essential element of democracy. It requires candidates to pound the street rather than view them on Google Maps from their Westminster bubble and see the real issues and talk to the people they hope to represent. Waiting for resident emails and hosting events creates responder bias giving those with a strong political opinion a disproportionate voice. Cities and tower blocks destroy a sense of community and those people will be detached from real life, which is why many of them vote for candidates and parties on policies without any real grasp of their consequences.

Honestly I don't want to vote for either party. Sunak is not a statesman, and Starmer is sheer lunacy to put at the reigns. Policies from both sides are vying for the center ground, alienating their core voters. God help us. There is a general election. As the leader of a party it is understandable George should aim to persuade people NOT to vote for Starmer. It is a convincing argument not to do so too. Both commentators agree. Quite an effective way of steering voters to vote for his party as a protest vote rather than vote Labour. So not sure why PH is so mystified by Galloway's statement. Making a prediction dramatises the issue: not a bad thing.
