Galveston drowning: Second person dies 

I live 45 south/Scarsdale and I go to Galveston every weekend and so many people that don't listen and think nothing will happen to their kids or themselves and when it happens they're all crying when tragedies can be prevented!

I live just 50 minutes away from the beach of Galveston and I never go because of rip currents and the water is so brown and gross to me. I never go into wave pools either because I had a really bad experience with it when I was 12 years old while on a youth group trip. I jumped into the wave pool and I kept getting hit with tubs and I kept going under water and at some point I couldn’t catch my breath from going under water because there were so many people in the way. I would try and swim to the ladder that gets me out of the pool but I kept getting knocked by tubs and the waves would get stronger. I finally called out for help by a lifeguard but he paid no attention to me. The first thing I thought was I am going to die drowning because of these stupid lifeguards. One of my friends from my youth saw me struggling and without hesitation, he jumped in and pulled me to safety. I am about to be 29 years old and till this day I am still forever thankful to my friend that saved my life that day. We both went our separate ways but I am very thankful to him for saving my life when I was 12 years old in 2007. That’s why I don’t go into wave pools and beaches anymore is because of my experience of nearly drowning. 😢😢😢.

Hearing about the drowning gives me PTSD, my brother drown on Padre Island in May, he was only 17 years old. I feel so bad for these families we did not find my brother for almost a week. He was a good swimmer but the currents are something not to be messing with.

Being in that toxic soup is deadly enough.

Take note the advice of Chuck don’t swim at Galveston beach 👍🏻👌🤔
