nice little video - was a student there back in the 80s (UCG as it was then) - much has changed but a lot remains the same - McDonaghs was a fish shop then, see O'Briens newsagent still on Shop Street. The Quays was a great pub BITD and there's another across the road, Tigh Neachtain - well worth going in for a pint. I'd left before the Celtic Tiger, which revolutionised Galway. Traffic there now is horrible - city centre close to gridlock through the day. Love going back when able.

Great walking tour,thanks. I last visited Galway 25 yrs ago this month and I remember it better than any other place in Ireland. Of all the places I've visited, it is Galway where I would most like to have just stayed. The place is probably much livelier and frenetic than it was. I know the univetsity is much larger and tourism as well.

The Latin Quarter (Le quartier Latin) in Paris is the most bohemian and 'coolest' area there. That's simply why the area was named 'The Latin Quarter' in Galway .. same with the name 'West End' .. a v popular part of London. It totally suits for another part of Galway.

Just got back from a trip to Ireland and Galway was by far my favorite place. Only spent 2 nights there but I am so in love and miss it so much. Can’t wait to go back someday 😍

Colombus left Europe to "find" America from galway. This was his lauch point. Mass was held by the spanish arches. Bigger story than you think.

Cool! I did one of those ancestry DNA tests that showed the part of me that’s Irish is from close to there. But I don’t know if I saw any of my 5th cousins when I was there 🤣🤣
