@@RemedyPlaysGambits personality is more Channing Tatum, that’s my big critique. We didn’t need more comedic relief in a movie with Deadpool but, he looks great, the suit is spot on, the accent is perfect and his powers looked pretty decent. He really just didn’t act like Gambit, which is my big gripe, but that’s the most important thing to nail. I miss the black and purple eyes too, makes him look unstable.

I had to play the translator for my wife and everyone around me cause they couldn't understand.

I am from da bayou and moved away later in life. It’s easy to loose the accent to yourself but everyone else hear it. 6 is young and he doesn’t have a natural accent but he did alright.

My uncle was Cajun. There's nothing exaggerated about this. I knew the man for 21 years before the first time I actually understood something he said. Remember having a discussion with my mom about it while at a party for my 21st birthday. If anything, Gambits accent in this is somewhat mild and easily understandable.

@@anthonylopez899 Dustin has the quintessential Lafayette accent, which is more subdued compared to other surrounding areas. You can tell by certain words he pronounces, such as “like” and “the”. He’s a cool guy and super nice.

Facts. People who have accents arent “bad speakers”if anything, they are better speakers cus they know multiple languages. My first language is french but no one can tell anymore since i only speak it when im back home. Ive dealt with this first hand lol

@@DatBoiGloomy There’s a sizable percentage of us in the United States who associate regional accents here as uneducated and negative if it isn’t general American but then they’ll associate accents in the UK as intelligent. The US has a huge issue with improper or erroneous associations and correlations being seen as fact.

"Couillon z'oie" Z'oie (zwah) means goose in Cajun French. It's often used as an insult. Kinda like how we use dodo. Essentially bird brain is what it means. Oie is how you say goose in traditional French but Cajun French carries over part of the liaison I.E. "les oie" --> "z'oie" That little touch right there shows just how much effort and attention he put into his accent.

Do you think the speech mannerism could be consistent with the cajun dialect in 1990, when the character was introduced, or was it old even then? Like, a stereotyped version of the dialect from the very beginning. I never thought about the very obvious fact that the character's speech pattern never changed over the years while every spoken language does. Ma chère (said to rogue) e mon amis are part of his comic book identity, if they were cut off the fans would complain about comic books accuracy; at the same time, it would be stupid to make a 30 something character speak like a grandpa (even if only a tiny minority would be able to tell). Btw, I can't judge the accent (I'm european), but I found Tatum's body language to be too stiff to be Gambit's.

@@Sara-su7yk Even for a twenty-something in the nineties his accent was a blend of stuff from a much earlier generation, and stuff that was just plain wrong. Just plain wrong as in not even part of the Cajun dialect.
