Series' continuation after Year of the Dragon (third and final title for the PS1). Gameplay seems strange in a isometric world, it's a bit hard to control Spyro and the game is quite hard. Not really an action-oriented game, mostly consist of searching and collecting fairies and those annoying crystals (all 7000 of them).
At the end of the game at 03:46:58 I unlocked the Dragonfly X mini-game, which is endless so I quit after a few levels. -

I just found this game in an old game store and honestly I’m rage quitting already XD I’m also playing on DS lite and the thumb cramp is REAL. Idk if it’s any more comfortable on a game boy or not. I never had one as a kid.

I had this as a kid but didn't play it much. I wasn't a fan of this game's more isometric style. Looking back on it now though, I think they did a pretty good job of capturing that Spyro feel while still working within the console's limitations. (And the music is a bop too)

2:54:35 as soon as they go into that world and that music starts. I realize after watching this playthrough, that's the only memory of the game that actually stuck with me all this time. i remember just sitting and listening to the music when i got to that point. It was a really pleasant moment that i got to have all to myself. This game made me so mad though, but i couldn't stop playing until i beat it! Glad i'm not the only one that remembers enjoying the music!

I still think this game looks very pretty and visually pleasing aside from the terrible cutscene character models for everyone aside from spyro. Other than that it is gorgeous imo

I think I had this one or flame as a kid. I plan to get the two pack at some point while I hunt for games I lost as a child, in order to relive the good ol' days of my childhood once again. In other words, because NOSTALGIA is a thing........ :)

Anyone who wants to play this game do yourself a favor and look up the stage maps. Having a map of each stage makes this game a whole lot easier and unlike it's two sequels this game doesn't have a ingame map feature. Because of this the problem most players end up having is they wind up getting lost in the game's maze like levels.

Thank you for triggering some childhood memories there. I never finished this game but it was my first gba game so it's still a special gem, even if I ultimately got stuck and stopped playing it. Wish I could go back and say to my younger self, don't quit. Keep going. Again thank you

Always found the controls to be tighter in Season of Flame and Adventure/Attack of the Rhynorcs. The controls in this game were slippery and spyro had too much momentum.

guess Grendor is the game's villain. also from a timeline perspective, i think this takes place after Spyro 3 since Bianca is there and Moneybags mentioned that he was at the Firefly Swamp writing haikus. i could be wrong.

Yeah, the GBA games were basically alternative sequels to Year of the Dragon. (I say alternative because you have this game and Season of Flame as opposed to Enter the Dragonfly and A Hero's Tail.)

This game was too strict in fairy quantities from world to world. 20 fairies to enter world 2, 44 to enter world 3 and 71 !!! to enter world 4. Not only this but some fairies were nearly impossible to get them.

The jungle level at around 1hour mark was insanely stupid. Floating platforms on this isometric view was super hard to navigate. Also add the small render distance to mix with very bad controls and you have a perfect way to induce rage in me while I was like 9. Hell, I would probably be pissed of even today 🤣

I hated this game with a burning passion. Always died. Only reason I continued playing it was because I was stubborn and wanted to beat it. I broke my Gameboy advance once to this game. Eventually I did beat it and never again touched it.

Man... I did not like the top-down perspective. If this line of games get remade like their predecessors, I hope it's a 3rd person over-the-shoulder/behind the player perspective. Otherwise, I found nothing else I didn't like that was a nitpick. A shame too, because Season of Ice/Fire are the only two on GBA I have not played all the way through.
