Thanks for sharing the process (and the boards!), they are wonderful. The hardest part is making space for the shell to be able to close it and making a perfect USB-C hole… Nightmare stuff! Joking aside, the boards are working like a charm. Gracias :)
Thanks for creating this and the guide, I managed to do the mod and was pleasantly surprised how smoothly it went. One thing I would recommend adding to the written guide is how to modify the shell so it has the clearance needed for the battery connector and other components (and the USB port). It was a little tricky figuring out what needed to be trimmed but once I did a utility knife and some needle files did the trick. I'd be happy to help write something up. If anyone is wondering, a 103050 battery will fit but I'd probably recommend the 103048 just for peace of mind that it can expand if needed. Stick some foam on the back side of the battery cover to keep it all snug. I used a funnyplaying shell and IPS laminated display and I love it, now this device is really up to today's standards!
Thanks for your commentary. I agree about cutting the shell can be difficult. I have a GBC which I will need to modify soon. I will take pictures of the cutting process and add to the documentation. Thanks!
Yes, you can, someone did that already: raw.githubusercontent.com/giltesa/Game-Boy-Color-USB-C-Charging-Kit-Pro/master/5.%20Photos/main/Sascha.jpg But you can also use the PRO version with DC to DC converter 😏 shop.giltesa.com/product/game-boy-color-usb-c-charging-kit-pro/
@@giltesa interesting...I wonder if I can unsolder and get the second one...especially due to the CleanAmps since I have a new screen. The screen started switching off but the sound still played.
The datasheet says it's for Li-lon batteries: cdn.sparkfun.com/assets/c/b/9/f/0/TP4056_Datasheet.pdf But many shops, which sell the TP4056 as a module, say it's for Li-Ion and LiPo battery. so, it may work well. www.electroschematics.com/tp4056-lipo-battery-charger-rc-toys/ "The TP4056 IC is a complete constant current/constant-voltage linear charger for single cell lithium-ion/Lithium Polymer (LiIon/LiPo) batteries"
You need to drill the plastic bit by bit, and check every time if that is enough or you need to drill it a bit more. Take your time, there isn't any other way to do it and no template is available since the USB port can be in a different position depending on each installation. The good thing is that part of the hole is already done because the USB uses the jack hole, so you don't start from scratch and it helps you to see in which direction to drill.
Hello! Yes, I'm selling the black color. But I also made a few in blue color for testing and white color because I thought it could have been more beautiful on the GBC... but people like black so I only have black colour now. 😊
