@AndrewWithEase11 11 game builder garage isn’t meant to be a full decked out game engine, it’s supposed to be a small little game builder that’s easy to learn and fun to use. The fun comes from building the games, not playing them

@AndrewWithEase11 11 Woah man, chill. I’ve found many great and small demos that work with the limitations of game builder garage very well. Take Nintendo labo for example: the fun doesn’t come out of playing the games most of the time, it comes from building the actual sets. The same thing can be said with game builder garage. Maybe stop calling people stupid when there are huge communities o& people making game builder garage games and uploading them to websites and discord servers. Just because you didn’t have fun with it doesn’t mean that nobody else can have fun with it. I’m not saying it’s the best, but it deserves some recognition to making kids and even adults interested in games by teaching them with an easy to use system

@AndrewWithEase11 11 just because the actual games might not be the best doesn’t mean the game isn’t fun. Again, most of the fun doesn’t come from building.

@AndrewWithEase11 11 whatever. I mean, whether the game is fun to build or not is subjective to opinion. If you don’t like it, that’s okay, but in my personal opinion, I like it, I find enjoyment in it, and I think it’s a pretty genius idea

I made three custom tracks. It’s in an fnf format style where if the player misses a note they lose so the song must be perfect for them to proceed

yeah, the game supplies you a few backing tracks that you can alter by picking instruments, effects and whatnot. there's a way to make your own BGM, but it uses quite a handful of Nodons and connections to work (the guy who made GBG Doom did his own BGM).

From what I’ve seen, GBG is outclassed by Dreams *by a long shot.* The main issue seems to be the low Nodon limit, plus limited potential with 3D and even 2D models

There is no comparison, Dreams functions as a real game maker, although it also has its limitations. The Game Builder Garage is more like an educational software for children and adolescents (although it also has some educational value for adults). The point is that in my opinion, none of the two is worth for those who really want to make games. Even if Dreams is a complete studio where you can basically do everything a game needs, it's still something stuck in a console where you are not the true owner of your own games and depends on the goodwill of other companies even for your game preserved in the future. If you want something just to have fun making games like hobby, then Dreams is more indicated.

i know GBG is not Unity, i just want to learn game making because it's something i want to work with. i never heard of this other one, though.

It's extremely limited, not just in the possibility of creating your own art, but in the amount of code you can use.

You can't create your own 3d models but you can create your own 2d textures.

It's definitely better for 2d games, just from the fact that you can only make 2d sprites. (Well, I actually have an idea that'll probably turn out to be really janky but might be a workaround for 3d modeling)
