Hey Adam, I just bought this machine and reviewed it on my channel and wanted to let you know that Prime Fitness did a rolling change recently and that all Prodigy Racks and Single Stacks will now include 4-way hole spacing and laser cut numbers marking height adjustment options for attachments. Wanted to pass this along since your review was the one I used to decide on my purchase. Have a great day!!
I bought mine based on this review. This is the best single stack ever. It’s amazing. For those who want to know, it arrives unassembled. It is utterly a premium unit. Beyond words. Best single stack I have ever used period. I use mine daily. Stack is 350 lbs, you will totally feel it. 3rd party attachments work on it without issue. The 1:1 ratio on the lat pull down is AMAZING!!!!!! I am becoming so much stronger on this. I will post my video for this later.
@@GarageGymLab Thanks. I got all of the attachments in the video and the lunge pad. 100% amazing. Your review is right on. I also use this as my anchor for K08 and TRX without any problems.
That's a great piece of equipment. The price is actually really on par with most residential functional trainers. I agree on more holes on the post, and a more stable seat. I would like a option to mount to a wall or rack. Eliminating the extra legs. Also a feature to add height to the top pulley . I luv the 2 to 1 and 1 to 1 ratios. This is getting my curiosity going for sure. Thanks for the awesome review.
@@GarageGymLab hey i cant get an answer from the company but if i am female and single, can they deliver to a room and assemble? I am willing to pay but there isnt any mention of that on the website. thanks
Just realized you haven't been posting videos for the past couple of years. Fooled me, these last two videos are premium production quality. Keep up the great work, love your site!
I am extremely glad I found this video! I’m buying this system. It saves me buying the Titan lat tower and rep functional trainer I was going to purchase. Huge space savings over the two separate machines.
Prime needs to move to Texas so they can pay less in taxes and lower the price on their stuff. Holy freaking cow. Man if you gonna go that route just get the $6000 home gym/functional trainer. Love the pin that has the Olympic add on. My thinking was buy some plate mate magnetic bars to micro load to the stacks. For $3000 the seat should be locked in and not budge. Definitely agree with the holes being all over the machine. Personally I think more people would like to see the 3” square tubing so they can use their Rogue, Sorinex, or Rep attachments. The thing that’s going to make buyers happiest is having different attachments from different companies all work together. Windows did the same thing with computers decades ago. They had their platform and would allow others to build on top of it. The more adaptable/functional it is, the more people will want it in their home gyms. Thank you for reviewing this so soon after your new gym video. Awesome content and video/sound.
Thanks so much for the comment and for watching, buddy. I’m in total agreement on cross compatibility. As consumers, it’s a great thing for us and it only helps companies with marketing their products. Nobody wants to be locked into a single ecosystem.
Solid review, very informative and a lot of good tips I always get from your videos like gym pin. Helpful for anyone who is setting up a garage gym currently.👍👍
Man I jus grabbed a Precor Functional Trainer. If I had seen this a month ago I woulda gone this route. The theme of the 3x3 beams just fits so well with the garage gym feel. This is a nice unit.
Appreciate you watching and for the kind words buddy! Just getting back onto RU-vid after a long hiatus. Been more active on IG and website the past couple of years. Excited to be making videos again!
Garage Gym Lab dude thanks bro, I have a home gym and had it complete before the pandemic so it's good to see well edited good home gym content. I hate the IG scene so, there are people out there like me who stick to RU-vid(no I'm not old my dude, in my 30's). It's good to see you have a script but even better bc you can tell you're reading from it. Really well done my dude. Thank god for home gyms especially here in Michigan where people get winter fat real quick as it's winter here 11 months of the year.
Great video! I'm never going to buy it (just going to stick with the cheapo weight plate wall mount cable machine) but I just love watching your content. You helped me pick my barbell, the Mammoth.
I have a Prime Prodigy Plate Loaded rack and it is amazing! Best piece of equipment that I’ve ever used. I would say that the buying experience/customer experience was a nightmare!
Thanks for the informative review. I really wanted to get this piece, but after shipping and attachments, it started to really add-up. Freight to the West Coast was just shy of $1k and the seat/low row attachments were also a few hundred a piece. I think one area they could improve on to reduce their freight cost is not having their equipment shipped fully assembled. I know they tout that as a convenience, but most home gym owners like tinkering with their equipment and don't mind spending a few hours for assembly. I also thought their high pulley was 2:1, I wish they were clear on their website that it was 1:1, that might have actually convinced me to get it instead of the route I went.
Great review Adam. It is a great cable machine for sure. Price is a little high when you add bunch of attachments but you get what you pay for. Thank you 💪
EXCELLENT review! THANK YOU so much for sharing, but that's a lot of $$$$$ for the working person, I had to go with the Bells Of Steel plate loaded version, maybe someday when if I win the PowerBall.
Agree about the side hole spacing - it would allow for the sorinex bulldog bad, the straydog neck machine, and the sorinex rack mounted leg curl machine. I have a RML rack, so having a 3x3 column is super nice but the lack of things i can use with it due to the side holes is very annoying. But I do love this piece!
@@DanesinTexas hard to beat rep for the money right now. Rogue has more refined attachments for the most part, but you can bring many of those over to the Rep rack. I like what Rep is creating and their attachment pipeline looks intriguing.
Really nice!!! At some point soon hopefully, I can design this kinda stuff myself...so a good starting point here,as it has so many things I wanted to add myself...the foot lvl adjustment is 1 ofem,I've an old house, nothing is really lvl ,so it would have to be adjustable...nice channel, rly good vid bro!!!
Can you use the lower foot plate for belt squats ???? This would be awesome if possible, of course limited by weight stack but I am thinking plate loaded
Snagged a freemotion dual stack dual arm cable cross. I think it may be the most versatile of functional trainers. A rich man had a company move him and he let them keep it at the warehouse and never came back for it. They sold it to me for $1000 :). They didnt even know what it was haha. It was posted as "exercise equipment" no tags or anything. Sold my FT 5000 (absolute piece of crap, not smooth and does not feel like a commercial machine)
I picked one up from a company that sells used gym equipment right when the gyms closed down. I love it but for some exercises ide like to have something that will allow me to connect both cables together.
Thanks for the review. Question: How did the unit arrive ? Where the base legs that are V’d out , were they disassembled from the rack to make it easy to move into an apartment gym? Also we’re the weights in a separate box and not assembled. My point is the less it comes assembled in my case the better so I can move it to my apartment.
Hey bud. It shipped basically fully assembled, standing up, but with one of the legs off to the side. It’s easy to remove the plates, which is pretty necessary in order to move the piece. Once in place, takes a few minutes to reload them.
Contacted Prime. Dang!! They’ve got too many good options. Looking at this single stack led me to the HLP Selectorized Rack and their Functional Trainer! Have you put your hands on these?? Love the look, quality, versatility of all!! This will be painful to pick
Could you buy two of these and essentially have a cable crossover? I already have the prodigy selectorized rack... and fucking love it. That said, while it is essentially a rack and functional trainer - not all traditional cable crossover moves translate all that great to the narrower functional trainers. Also.... my prodigy rack I got I opted for the 2:1 ratio on the adjustable pulleys. Would like something with a 4:1 ratio for buttery smooth movements on stuff like chest flys and lateral raises, etc. Been looking at the single stack plate loaded version which goes for $2500.... 2 of them would be $5000..... which is about the price of a quality traditional crossover machine.... or CHEAPER than a freemotion articulating arm functional trainer. I'd get the actual Prime functional trainer but 1) it's at a 2:1 ratio and 2).... it's $1500 more at $6500 vs getting 2 single stack plate loaded units for, again, $5000.
Great content, great review, big fan of your video! May I ask -- what did you pay for this? I may be mistaken (and if so I apologize), but I seem to recall a post a while ago where you received this unit for free from Prime?
To clarify my intent here - I’m just wondering if your perspective is unconsciously skewed. For example, if someone spent however much the total cost is to ship with all the attachments (3.5k? 4K?) and they have a wobbly seat, they may inherently find that to be unacceptable whereas someone who received it for fee may refer to it as annoying.
My quote with shipping and recommended attachments is 5 grand. Also while doing seated rows the weight resistance will only be at 175lbs and a seat that moves with lat pull downs. Almost purchased this unit, but just can’t ignore the those 2 issues
Question: if one of your buddies bought that machine from you because they needed a piece of equipment right away and they paid the same amount that you paid for it would you turn right back around and buy another one or would you buy the lat pull down from Titan Fitness at half the cost? I guess what I’m wondering is -“ Is the versatility of the prime machine so much that it justifies the higher price?” Would you do anything differently if you could go back in time? Thanks in advance for your advice. LOVE your gym setup.
Excellent review! I REALLY want to pull the trigger on this, but a little worried about the seat movement on a machine that will likely cost me 4K after shipping. Have you found a workaround? Does it bother you much while pulling heavy weight. I have thought about the idea of using a plastic shim, but for 4K, should I have to? Maybe they should add a fastener to the back, like on the side of the foot plate.
@@GarageGymLab That is great news. If that is the case, I think I may bite the bullet this week. Love the versatility with this thing. Too bad Rogue didn't do something similar with their new "monster cave." A dual adjustable pulley with a lat pull on one side, plus Rogue's free shipping would have had me cutting holes in the drywall of my garage ceiling to get the extra 2 inches I need for that setup :)
Hey Adam, I know you mentioned tall people may have a difficult time. I am 6ft tall with decently long arms and I would probably just use regular lat pull down bars with this. Would I be able to likely get a good stretch?
I couldn’t see how that upright that has the trolley attached it rigged up, but would it be possible to swap that out for a standard 3x3” upright? Maybe one from Rep or Titan that would have holes on all sides instead of just front/back.
I've watched so many videos on home gyms lately. How come I see lots of squat racks and not many people with those multi exercise cable home gym machines? I am taking about the ones with lat pull down, leg curl attachment, lower pulley option? I was able to get my hands on a cheap used 200lbs stack one in June and love it. With some adjustable dumbells, pull up bar, and resistance bands I feel set. However, I do not see any new garage gym setups with this type of equipment. Is there a reason why?
I didn’t like how the lat pull down seat wobbles. That does sound annoying. Could you replace the front upright with one from Rogue and then use the Rogue lat pulldown seat?
It's compounded by the astronomical shipping. If they could cut the shipping and maybe add some form of payment options I'd have a piece or two from them.
Great review, I was considering picking this up but I have a Life Fitness G7, and my only complaint about that unit is the weight stacks aren’t very heavy along w the ratio. I want to replace my cheap Body Solid lat machine so that’s why this popped up on my radar. I’m curious what the attachments go for price wise, do you happen to know?
Looking to add to our garage. What are your thoughts on this vs say Rep FT 5000 for versatility? I realize lats would be missing, but anything else or thoughts in general if there can be only one? Thanks
I'm in the early stages of my own build. Across the board, Prime's products (especially the prodigy line) are what I'm looking for when I get to my upgrade stage
I don't know if you can answer this, but would you expect there to be any difference in the feel of the plate-loaded versus selectorized version (evenness of the pull, smoothness, durability, etc.?). Thanks. In my opinion, not too much of a cost savings with the plate-loaded, however.
@@GarageGymLab Thanks for the response, do you have the larger size handles or small? There's no real description on their site around who should buy one vs. the other.
Adam, do you trust prime fitness to delivery all of their products with satisfaction. I am looking to get the prime fitness leg press but there are limited videos on the products, especially someone that is not affiliated with them (like you). Your feedback would be greatly appreciated
It has the 1 inch holes on the main post, but do you know what size the holes on the other post and cross member parts are? I am interested in this piece and want to try and find storage hooks that could fit on those smaller holes.
Maybe one day I will upgrade. I bought a basic plate loaded lat pulldown 4 plus yrs ago for about $500. Its given me no problems. It's kind of hard to justify this expense simply for accessory lifts.
Great review. Their price is always outrageously more than I expect. Buying American shouldn’t break the bank for the average American. Love their products but awaiting a Rep or Titan clone I guess. Maybe Rogue can design something better and land somewhere in the middle. THAT would be amazing. :)
These companies are making a killing. I have a vintage DP universal gym set with lap pulldowns, curling station and a rowing station with 200 lb of weights. $75. Footprint is only a 3 ft by 3 ft area. Gets the job done.
The only reason I chose not to buy this unit was the shipping cost Prime Fitness quoted me for a Florida delivery. Close to $900 just for shipping from PA to FL!!!!?!?! If it was less then I could have stomached then $$$ but I can’t see over $4k for a single stack cable system being worth it for an average budget home gym consumer. Just my opinion here.
Let me ask do you think this has more functionality over a dual cable functional trainer. This seems super tempting and I was all in but their sales department is lacking I put a request to purchase and had to call for my bid and and am still waiting. Where you can go online and go to rep with free shipping and buy online.
Do you still like the single stack? Is the quality and durability on par with Rogue or Sorinex? Are the pulleys smooth operational? Looking at possibly their functional trainer but curious on your thoughts. Thx
Thinking about pulling the trigger on this. If you could do it all over again with what’s currently on the market, would you? Any updated opinions? Thanks man.
Adam, it’s truly Christmas in April. I am getting mine in 1 week! I wanted to ask, what tools do I need to put this together as fast and as smooth as possible??
Awesome, bud! When I got mine, they shipped fully assembled. Would encourage you to check out Basement Brandon’s video on assembly. I thinks it’s pretty basic stuff though: Socket wrenches, etc…
