No problem. I learnt so much from RU-vid and those who have done the same for me to be able to learn. So it only seems right that I continue on that tradition of teaching others. 😁👍🏻
Thanks! Your Add Ons are SO good, thanks so much for your great work. If there would ever be a chance of getting an affiliate link on Blender Market it would be hugely appreciated but regardless thanks for making such helpful add ons.
@@ArtisansofVaul Yes, of course. I'm surprised you haven't reached out yet. Please do. There aren't many who actually cover my tools properly, so I'd be happy to have you as an affiliate.
@@MACHIN3 😁 Ive dropped you a message on Blender Market. It will be down as coming from Neil Collins (I made my Blender Market account before I had the RU-vid channel). Really hyped to check out Curve Machine too. Just got to find some time to get stuck into it.
Hmm... other uses... - Ornamental or carved bricks? Especially if they're placed in a curved wall. Likewise for carved tile inlay on floors and ornate walls. - Pipes for an organ, since they're all essentially the same just different sizes. (Also, fancy wind chimes) - The barrels of a gatling gun, including the rifling inside? Not sure, radial array seems better here. - Nuts and bolts, though I think you'd want an additional array on the bolt so you could vary its length as needed. - Item details on a bandolier? - For the latches on a full body harness, some nce they're all basically the same just different sizes. - Plated dragon tail.
Nice examples. I agree a radial array could be better but it does allow details around the barrels potentially. The one I've been playing with is that this is SO powerful with the grouping functions in Machin3 Tools.
@@ArtisansofVaul I agree his add-ons are amazing, but without people like you, many features would not be fully realized by the average person using Blender! 😉👍
Can't get this to work. In my case, in duplicate or instance mode, it will simply select the target object and do nothing. Edit: Figured out why it doesn't work. I had to set the origin (of all involved peices) to their respective centres. Otherwise it will not work in the least. This is a real pain if you have things like mirroed geometry :(
That is a pain. It might be worth contacting Machin3 to see if there is a work around that would work. Im thinking possibly involving empties but Im not near a computer to try it out.
There is a work-around for the duplicate issue where it doesn't apply the modifiers (like boolean or shrink-wrap). I'll have to see if I can find the video I saw on it about 2 weeks ago while browsing around. Likely was from Ponte Ryuurui, but I'll see if I can find it and leave a note here.
Why wouldn't you add the grips to parts of the hand before duplicating them though? If you make them children they will inherit any transforms including scaling.
🤣 You have a fair point. It was more meant as a demonstration and a hand mixed different orientations and sizes to show off what the feature did. Though I will say I have had a number of times when I modeled something for 28mm (where I wouldn't put in those details) and then decided to print a larger version and wanted to add details later, so it could happen.
For sure. Its on the list to do, I just want to make something that allows me to show a lot of rigging possibilities so its taking a bit of time to do that.
Yeah I know what you mean. I mean this is an add on I have had since the beginning of using Blender really but they are coming pretty fast. I generally am just focusing on learning ones that add something I can't do in standard Blender or just save me a lot of time. Admittedly I did get one the other day just for one function because it seemed like such a nice quality of life upgrade. If I find any of the other functions handy then thats just a plus 😅
You can do that in your preferences (edit>preferences>themes>viewport themes) I'm not by my computer so I'm pretty sure it's that or close to it but if the name is slightly different I apologise.
anyone know how at 2:52 he made a new object? i watched it frame by frame and cant see where it happened 😂there is just all of a sudden a new object ready to bevel
Sorry it wasn't the focus of the video so I didn't describe what was going on. I had the face selected and then used the Machin3 Tools addon (it's free) and it's Smart Face function (the 4 key). That makes a new object with the face selected without having to play around duplicating/separating/etc. You can see in the bottom left at that point that it's been used but thats no excuse for me not explaining it.
You Sir, have some of the best tutorials. Seriously, they are clear concise and very informative. Thank you for the work you do it's very much appreciated. I never knew this about machin3 Tools and I have been using it for a couple years now. I could have saved so much time. I will also now make sure to read through the docs for the hidden features. Cheers.
An awesome time saver. Thx for the Video :) But what if you applied the scale of the objects you want to copy to. Then it wouldn't scale the details properly right?
Just had a glance at that. I have an addon called Construction Lines which does a very similar thing but with a little more functionality. HOWEVER this PolyQuilt is free and while it has a little less functions it also seems to have a pretty elegant layout/workflow. I'll definitely be looking into that more! Thanks so much!
😁 Thanks so much. That's hugely appreciated and I've been so encouraged by how supportive everyone has been. As a relatively new channel it can be tricky but everyone have been great!
and at 2:30 he just casually mentions one of the greatest hardops features, which I never even tried before, because of my excel trauma and a deep rooted fear of makros 😆 well thanks again mate, I love your videos
Great vids. Watched like 5 videos so far! Do you know the best way to create a mesh that would form perfectly fit on the face? for example creating a super hero mask (eyes, nose/mouth mask). Aside from boolean, what method would you use? say , thickness can be 1cm throughout the whole mesh
@@ArtisansofVaul im trying to think of a perfect example. Lets say (INJUSTICE 2) Evil Supermans jaw/neck piece. or maybe picture a spandex costume but it would be hard surface
@eatsleepwithme5062 The bigger thing is how are you getting the outline/shape of the face/body it's going on to model the fit? Like if this is your face are you scanning your head?
It would seem like you could just duplicate parts of the face mesh and click p to part and then extrude or use a solidify modifier with the proper offset.
@@ArtisansofVaul I watched 2:32 and 2:57 part several times, and checked online manual, still can't figure out what is your short cut for key " 4" to get a new object 😆. There are so many skills each of your video.
hehe k'nurl... like k'nucle or k'nock... thank you, that was funny! I've been told the modifiers are "old" now given the Geometry Nodes, so I wonder if MachineIO (I tried really hard to discover his real name, even reading the code cause sometimes ppl put their names in the code, but nope) is working on adapting his tool to GN over modifiers. I hope you've asked him about this lack of response to modifier issue, cause that's interesting... he's a little mean though, so if he doesn't respond or seems angry you bothered him, it's not you...
I haven't asked yet but should do. It was me just wish listing really. And thanks for the k'nurl info 😅 I'm not sure Geometry Nodes will replace modifiers. Maybe one day but where the function exists its generally still faster than a Geometry Node.
best blender channel imo the way you explain these tools is fabulous, and the fact that you show the features that could be available is fantastic. things like this make my brain work, you know? hahaha thanks!!!
Thanks so much 😁 I try to do things that would have been helpful to me when I was learning or what I wanted to know when I found out about them. I'm glad it's what others want to see too 😁👍🏻
wow I just did a commission that knowing about this would have shaved probably 2-3 days of work off of it... thank you for finding this lol ill never again have to suffer like that again lol
I know right! There have been SO many instances where this would have been amazing. Like putting alternative weapons on different premade arm poses where the hand is the same object in each/etc.
Very cool! Especially the bit on using the scale to mirror duplicate objects and align relative-ing all the extra bits with their origins intact. The pseudo-rigging possibilities sound like a game changer for my own little work flow
oh so for this to work- the scale on the receiving option shouldn't be applied? So that the scaling information can be used for that relative sizing? Just wanted to make sure I was clear on that bit haha I have gotten so used to habitually applying the scale on everything
@@ArtisansofVaul thanks that makes perfect sense! I'm sure you said it at least once in the narration as you went along with the process haha sometimes I need things in big flashing lights too 😜
