Beating a super difficult boss and ending up with 9990/10000 XP to lvl up is embarrassing because that 10XP is from a flower you will pick on the way back home
@@enderfire3379 Milestone is only good if the GM can properly pace the game. Else you risk running the same level for too long, running "hard" levels too short (basically the ones that just granted players a lot of goodies and they need time to get used to them, and then they get overloaded with the next level), plus the possibility of side options such as stealthing, doing sidequests or whatever as incentives. XP in the end is like gold: A currency you trade for a benefeit. Some games literally make you spend XP, even. "Can I somehow get more gold so I can get through the dungeon easily? Can I do something to get me some extra loot out of the dungeon?" In the end it's all a balancing act, and it depends on your players, but unless you know what you're doing, it's best to err into XP than into milestone - you can play with XP to grant levels at specific points, but you can't tweak milestone for when players want to feel rewarded for a minor scene.
I personally like how Kingdom Hearts does it. While a lot of your levelling comes from xp, you get stat boosts and abilities from winning certain battles too, usually bosses and particularly hard scripted encounters.
I love how when the mic moves forward and hits his helmet, you added the little nudge to show it did indeed hit his helmet. A little touch to show why you're a spectacular animator.
Now we need a video on what it feels like to be overleveled for an area. Maybe show a boss preparing himself for what is surely going to be an epic bossfight, only for a dude in his underwear march into the arena and half-heartedly slap him from existence.
Every time I watch one of these with the knights armor n stuff I keep expecting a 'Parry this you filthy casual' meme and the guy to pull out a gun Either way I'm not disappointed I just think it's funny lol.
I'm pretty sure the video "What happens when the backpack/inventory in a game is F U L L" makes this bit, I mean he doesn't say it but he does just that
Reminds me of an MMO I played. Me and my mate challenged a world boss but my mate got one shot. With my build with counters and resistances I managed to tank the boss for 4 straight minutes. My mate came back with a proper group to kill the world boss. I legit leveled up after that eating a sandwich in my backpack.
"I am on an entirely different path. I pursue powers you don't dare to dream of. I grapple with nightmares beyond your comprehension." *Bites sandwich, begins to glow and float.*
While this may be a weird comparison, I really liked how it worked in Kingdom Hearts 2, in that defeating certain bosses gave you a "bonus level" that worked like a normal one but just didn't count to the XP count
that moment when making a carnage and genocide on end-game bosses didn't show aby progress on your lvl bar but picking up literal trash or stick from the ground did manage to make you reach lvl cap with it's 3 XP
My favorite part of your animations is the fact you animate it in a way that mimics claymation. If you can help it, try to keep that for as long as you do this
You know, this level of production value, short story tension buildup, clarity of message and distinctiveness in style is better than what many tv youth channels have as own productions, possibly with a far bigger team than yours. I guess what you already do suffices to not follow such a path, but if you would, you could...easily. Keep it up, Dude. you rock.
I love how the microphone at the end clips his helmet just a little as it's pushed into the scene. Little details like that are wonderful!. Keep up the great work, Hoot!
Thats what i love in your videos. A hilarious Punchline delivered in under 2 minutes. Awesome footage and proper editing. Hoot, the Number one when it comes to what i call "the shortest possible perfection".
Wooow. So cool the style you are using reminds me a lot to the motion frame by frame like the strange world of Jack and many others before it. Awesome and funny short.
I know I’m a little late to the party, but you guys are great. Just started watching your stuff. Trying not to watch to binge a few is always a small struggle.
that is SO GOOD! everything about this, the mic bumping into his helmet at 0:59 is so much funnier than it has any right to be cause its SO REAL. I love it
I also love the logic of when bosses have some cinematic camera for countering them but.. they just still have more health.. like you are a regular human how tf did I stab you in the heart 5 times and you still walked it off?!
