Oh, I assumed that the Visustella assets will have some limitation on commercial license - like can only be used commercially for an RPG maker game. But the actual licence we get seems okay. Having to credit them for the assets is a non issue for me at all. I mean sure - you do have to remember about it before shipping the game, but yeah, it's not really something that would stop me from using them if they fit my game
Yeah its not an end of the world requirement, but its a .... stupid one, if that makes sense. Its one of those things that they benefit very little from, while at the same time, being off putting to potential customers for very little gain. At the end of the day, not a deal breaker for most, but certainly something that needs to be highlighted.
It's not that it'll prevent you from using it. The issue is that it isn't openly said. They are mixed in with a ton if other assets that DON'T require credit. So if you don't dig into each license individually you could get in some legal trouble for a very silly reason.
Even though you are not going to make videos bout audio packs please spend few minutes checking licensing for music packs to inform auditoria. Sometimes there are stupid bundles with (For personal use only) license so people may get in trouble not checking description properly!
Looks like a money trap for newb developers who don't know what they're getting into. I hope they include an editor for all those sprites, because editing them all by yourself by hand would lead to a lot of crying in the corner! Any new asset would pretty much have to align with all the established animation sequence pixel perfectly. The easiest manual edit would be to change just the colors using Photoshop or Affinity, but as soon as you want to change the shape of those sprites, you'll have to edit each corresponding animation frame and do it in a way that looks good when the final product is animated in game. I use RPG Maker MV which only has 12 frames for a map character: 3 walking animations for up, down, left and right, and I find it more than enough really. There's a built in asset creator which makes basic character creating easy. Custom battler animations I don't even want to get into! My battles are always first person just so I could only focus on a few enemy animations and effects. Asset creating is THE major hurdle for any lone developer in their bedroom! You need a way to create lots of variety fast if you want the game to be able to tell even a basic story visually. You probably need to settle for lower quality in favor of design variety. I'm of course talking about being able to manufacture new assets by yourself for free. If you got money to throw around, you could get an art designer to create your assets for you. Depends on how serious you are making your project.
Tbh as far as I'm aware, the license thing you pointed out with visustella isn't that uncommon for RPG Maker DLC, although this isn't the first time they have done something that's rubbed devs the wrong way lol(their line of plugins for MZ, for example, have had some controversy in the past).
The main controversy with their plugins is that you have to pay for them. They're still waaaay cheaper than this sort of thing for other engines, it's just that the RPG Maker community has been rather spoiled for a long time when it comes to hobbyists making all manner of plugins, scripts, and other resources for absolutely free. Even stuff like online multiplayer systems.
@@beardalaxy I'm pretty sure it's the obfuscated code too, for alot of people, especially advanced users, like to go inside the code of plugins to tinker and adapt it to better suit their needs(which even for those who can make their own code, will save them time rather than starting from scratch). Sure, it's alright for those who know absolutely nothing about coding as they can just mess around with the parameters within the plugin menu itself, but even then, this is engine for mainly for beginners to learn and hobbyist developers, and them obfuscating the code means if these beginners and hobbyists want to understand how the plugin was made by learning some Javascript and then taking a look at the code, they can't, which imo goes against what the RPG Maker series and community is all about. I can understand why though from a historical point(won't go into it but there was an issue with theft before, it's all online for people to look up if they want and you probably already know what I mean), and they can do what they want with their products ofc, but I still disagree with this approach, especially with the price tag attached(even if it's cheap compared to similar stuff in other engines).
Hi, with the assets that come ion the bundle, I don't really know how to like upload them into 001 game creator, I click resources ontop and then click brows but when I upon the files there isn't anything there, can u help me please??
@@milhouse8166 I downloaded the "godot LLM template" from the store and I don't know how to use it and from what I see it is very new, although I hope the guy sees it since it would be an interesting topic 🤔
So, like I see this in this moment: No one wants to pay a single cent for x% revenue to a game engine developer, but buying tons of discounted assets all the time is ok. Oh, what irony....
