Let’s give credit where credit is due to Navy’s incompetent athletic director Chuck Gladchuck who stupidly fired Navy’s all time winningest coach Ken in a petulant display of rudeness in the locker room after last seasons overtime loss to Army. Appreciation to the SMU coach for easing up on Navy in the second half in the 59-14 humiliating blow out over Navy. Coach Brian Newberry’s job probably hinges on beating Army otherwise he’ll likely get the Gladchuck boot. When will Navy get a new AD whose only consistency is making bad management decisions amid misplaced values.
He fired Ken because Newberry was getting SEC schools talking to him. It will look better for Navy going forward with new schools in conference. The offense was really not improved over last year. Any great team at Navy has a super star at QB. Ie Dobbs, Renyolds and Perry. Have not found him yet
Coach Ken won a total of 11 games In his last 3 years so in my opinion he was fired for good reason. Now I know he won a lot during his time there but his last 3 seasons were enough to get him fired
Bowl invitations go out next week. Navy will not be invited even if they beat Army the following week. But a win against Army and a 6-6 finish would be a great way to go into next season.
