After seeing the floor plan all I can think of is that you could play a real life game of clue in the house. It was Joel with the zapper in the library.
I hope your channel explodes on popularity soon, you are so good mate and passionate for games. Always a pleasure to watch your vids and can't wait for the new build. You are creating a dream for all the gamers around the world. Well done and keep it up!!!
To think what you went from in your early videos, I remember the cabs in the garage and the first games room expansion at your last house! Now to this! Incredible, this is pretty much living the dream (well mine anyway) - Congratulations, and I can't wait to see it all pan out.
This is one massive new development you will be bringing us over the next 3 to 6 months. I can't wait to see it I feel overwhelmed with my rooms getting done but yours is way bigger than my stuff.
You crack me up Joel. No doubt you have the resources to have that arcade room built for you without breaking a sweat.. yet you're doing as much of at as possible yourself. I'm crazy like you.. love to do it all myself even though I don't need to. Glad to see you enjoying your journey so much! =D
been watching this long enough that i think you need to start a go fund me to hire a professional designer to do everything to make the game rooms big enough so joel isnt redesigning for the next decade and he can make us some other content
Joel, you are a MADMAN. With the constant re-arrangements and projects, and expanding your house on your own, when do you find time to rest? Anyway, love your videos and keep em coming!
Nice to see what your plans are for the coming months Joel, I'm sure it will all be worth it once everything comes together and I can't wait to see the finished Arcade Room months down the line. I hear you on how certain aspects of Retro Game Collecting can turn nasty in some places, there are some decent groups out there though but I can completely understand that you have your own way of sourcing games. I've heard a lot about the Framemeister, that might be something I'll look into at some point but for now I've just got a RGB Scart switch with the relevant cables to set up so I'll see how that goes first. There's quite a lot for me to sort out within my rather modest but focused games room, so I've got enough to keep me busy but I'll be sure to catch up with your videos as and when you post them as they are part of what's keeping me going right now.
Something tells me you love the moving around/re-arranging and organising side of things almost as much as the collecting and playing of the games! That's what makes your channel so good, always a new plan and something that we can see you progress with. Good luck with the build, by the sound of it it's gonna be ace.
Great decision making Last Gamer! That play room was looking a bit cramped. I still think dividing rooms up by decade makes the most sense 70's, 80's, 90's, 2000, 2010's and styling each as a 'home' living room unique to those decades. Sounds crazy (I know) and would require a lot more floor space. Maybe if you ever built a second floor it would make sense? Thanks again for taking us with you on your adventure.
hey Last Gamer, I have followed and admired your channel for a LONG time now, my reason for replying this time is, I have worked at several museums and actually curated a very well know Hollywood collection. I have an idea that will bring your game home to the ultimate level. I think that that long hallway, since it have amazing lighting PLUS the advantage of UV protection..... I think it should be dedicated to framed gaming art, game production art, rare posters, a rack for your large game magazine collection, a long display case for loose small collectibles and things like that, and a long Tshirt rack for some of your gaming shirts. basically a hallway for all paper collectibles and non hardware and software related items..
This vlog was very reminiscent of the old vlogs which you use to do, with the camera following around and you explaining everything. Love the idea of the 'gaming house' and having the computer games in a separate room is an ingenious idea! Also having a retro PC to experience them they way they are meant to be played is great. Can't wait for future updates, lets begin 2018 with a bang!
Joel...we all love you man for your incredible dedication to gaming and allowing us to get a birds eye view into your world. I have to say im always itching for the next episode. Just one thing. Dont you get fed up constantly moving things around all the time? Would a 3rd party, possibly an interior designer help greatly in placing your thoughts (and future dreams) onto paper as so to assist in planning ahead and allow your collection to grow without the burden of moving things around. Would open up more time for gaming ;)
I thought you might be knocking in Mr Samsung's door to enquire about their 146" micro-LED TV. Would look pretty sweet in your home-cinema room, wherever it ends up.
Just awesome ideas. I actually just got my commodore 64 finally. It is so awesome. Like how much you are planning you make me want to be you in the future haha. Keep gaming on Joel.
Good luck with the building I'm sure it will be great when you look at the finished project and all the hard work you put in. Definitely going to make it a lot more worthwhile
At a size of around 100 machines, he's going to have one of the biggest arcades in the entire world attached to the side of his house. Imagine waking up in the morning, walking thirty feet down the hallway, and then stepping onto the 2nd floor of Arcade Club UK. Joel is insane!
Let’s all be honest, this isn’t the final plans and it will all change again haha! Good stuff Joel enjoying your vids! I just get the feeling you’ll never settle, ever! Haha
Love the idea of a gaming house but my wife would kill me lol Keep up the good work because someday I think your collection will be preserved for future generations of gamers that will study gaming past :)
Hey Joel, I actually have a personal request. I have had my trusty Dreamcast now for at least a decade. It was one of my first additions to my small gaming collection that I picked up from Cashies for $50. Since then I've gotten some original games, but like most DC owners a slew of burnt copies. I have never actually seen a copy of Capcom vs. SNK Millennium Fight 2000 edition. It would mean a great deal if you could pull it out and give it some screentime. It's my favourite Street Fighter game, next to SF III 3rd Strike. Anyway, as always. Loving the vids. Keep 'em coming!
I love how you are cleaning things up and separating them. I know this will give you extra space in the library, but don't you eventually see yourself running out of space in there? The amount of things you get in What's in the Box, on top of what you buy at home, you're going to need a second library.
Also, that wall where the Atari stuff is for now you should do something special. That seems like once everything is done that is the center of the whole game area. Maybe personal pics and or really special items for you. IDK it seems like such a center point that leads to all the major areas, do something cool....no pressure. lol
Yea. I am of the mindset that there are just a ridiculous number of computer games out there. And the number of computers needed to play them all is insane! I mean, Windows 95, 98, 2000, the NTs, the XP, Vista, and presently 7 through 10. Those operating systems alone have massive libraries. Not to mention MAC games, MS DOS, and then finally *deep breath*...all the computers that came out in the 70s and 80s from the original trinity all the way to the IBM PC. How does one fit all of that into one room? A colossal undertaking in and of itself. But, if anybody could do it, I'd bet my next paycheck on you.
In 2020 you'll have a alphabetical houses from Amstrad to Xbox. You gotta have some serious fire prevention there Joel, living in the sticks here in Aus it's a pretty massive concern. Your 2 videos a week are the only time I can escape life, Thanks man. 13:54 People who are negative and name calling can't be happy in life. I think there should be at least 1mil Subscribers but maybe 41k is a more peaceful balance. Been a COD player for years and mute everybody :)
Another awesome Episode Joel. Quick Question for you not sure if its been asked before...If you had to value your entire collection of games, consoles & arcades how much do you think its worth?
It's worth way more than $500,000 without a doubt. Some guy had 11,000 games and sold them for $750,000 a few years ago. Since that time the price of every rare and retro game has gone up substantially, and Joel has a collection multiple times that size. Total value for Joel's library is well into the multi-million dollar range.
Wow ! It's amazing your ever expanding house . I have always wondered how much land you have to build on and how big your 'estate' is ? . Sorry for being nosey
Thanks for the update Joel. However anyone who’s been watching your vids for a while will realise that your rooms are rearranged and rearranged and rearranged. Even when the building work is completed I expect there will be multiple revisions. Every season there is a big change around. I have two questions. As a collector I do have lists with end goals. The only lists that grow are the modern consoles with new releases. I have a modest collection with about 7000 games with another 800 on my want list. My question is do you have a finite goal for collecting or is it to obtain a copy of every single physical game that existed? In which case do ever ask yourself - why do I owe so many games when a large number of them may be mediocre or poor gaming experiences, as all systems have shovelware and bad games?
Do you plan to greatly expand or try to get a near complete set of all arcade pcb boards at some point or really expand the arcade collection? How can you be sure you have enough room for arcades? Or will you just add on again as you do like changing things around if you get a bunch more
I am waiting for it to be finished and then a vlog come out - "we have made the biggest decision of our lives. I've demanded Jess give me my starwars stuff back and we're moving"
