The reaching for your stuff and personal space--TOTALLY a pet peeve of ours! Had an issue with this at the ToyMan Show with a fellow RU-vidr who hovered while I held on to something I was clearly going to buy...
@@PixelGameSquad lol He was still there, but I have to admit, had he not been, I probably could've gotten a better deal on it... Oh well--collector woes!!
Some great pet peeves. I hate it when I'm at a flea market and there are those resellers that clearly don't want an actual store and everything is retail price and they refuse to haggle (which is their right), but I do not go to the flea market to pay retail, I'll go to a mom and pop shop if I pay retail. Also, if I ask how much a game is and they immediately go to their phone to look up the price, 9/10 times i'll just walk away without waiting for an answer.
On one extreme case at a game store I asked to see the listing, puled out my phone and bought the copy on eBay. It was in better shape, and it had the manual. I thanked the owner for the tip on the listing, and walked out as he was telling me to get out. Sellers don't eBay price me. I will not buy from you.
Hey Riff, here's a pet peeves for you: When the seller doesn't mark the prices, and they look up prices on eBay and said a game like Super Mario 64 on eBay CIB (as an example of course) and it's $600 still sealed and such. But you find one that loose, and looks beaten up and they say "Oh yeah that's uh half the price so... $300." 🤦
My only pet peeve for disk games when I look at the used games I check the boxes if it’s a game I want if it’s dirty I simply walk away for look for something else if it’s the only option I buy it and spend 30 minutes to make the box decent also has to be in its og case I had to clean so many ps3 cases
Hate when someone grabs into your box. And people that are dumb enough to go at 5 am aren’t smart because I just become friends with the sellers and show up at 9 am with a full night sleep and they hold stuff for me 😂
As a buyer, and when I go to a local shop or even a chain store; I avoid looking things up on eBay in front of the sellers or store owners. It's good to know what things are going for before you head out. AND trust me, when I come across something I feel is rare or something I need for my collection I'll either step away and look it up or take a gamble on it..
MoiEnNoir it’s good to have a collection app with the library of games you have. What I do is I open the app and tell them that I need to see if I have the game or not and glance at the price that way :)
Awesome top 5 video Aaron! I remember when I bought a game at gamestop and they forgot to put the disc in and I didn't realize till I got home and it was an empty case.
My tips for people: Just don't rush. Take your time. Have a chat (We're in the same hobby after all!). Grab a thing. Pay with a reasonable amount. Be happy.
I literally bought a game from vintage stock and didn't check it because it was sealed. When I opened it, it had a ninja turtles DVD that was supper scratched.
It drives me nuts when a game store has a pile of games, locked in a glass case. Can't see the labels, prices ,and you have to go find someone to open it. Then you have to ask the price for each game.
What cheeses me off is when the seller has to look up every price on eBay or Price Charting that minute to see how much to charge you. I get resellers. I know what I am expecting to deal with. But for my sanity, please know what your games are worth even if it means putting a price tag on them the night before. And seriously, a loose copy of a game is not worth the same as a complete copy of a game either.
@@PixelGameSquad I don't blame you one bit. Seriously, if you are going to run it as a business, then act like a business and don't make me sit there waiting for you to check the price of like 5 games.
When another collector will grab the entire shelf of games put it into a cart and go to the opposite end of the store to sort through them. Like seriously they don’t even buy all the games.
I got 2, I had an internal freakout fit because i got to a booth 30 seconds too late and a dude scored a late 80s early 90s cib millennium falcon, i got there in time to see a $10 be handed over. 2. Usually when i go to the fleamarket and i find a ps2 game in a game stop case no manual game is pretty scratched up but one i want, so i ask " 15 for that best price around" i just put it back and "HAAA!" And keep walking lol.
That why I alway check the cases before I buy the game. And u should definitely do a part 2 to this. One of my pet peeves in gaming is a broken case and seeing a disc scratched up smh learn how to take care your stuff... some people need to learn how to take care their stuff if not then they shouldn't be buying anything physical
My biggest one is when people try to undercut you mid negotiation at garage sales or flea markets it drives me crazy and it's just rude. Same thing with craigslist or marketplace when you already said you'd buy something it the seller sells it to someone who offered more
I was recently guilty of this. I was selling a bundle of an N64 with Mariokart. Someone offered to buy, but only made an offer for the system. I agreed. I was uneasy though because the buyer had the exact same name of someone who scammed me out of an N64 lot two days prior. I ended up selling the full bundle to someone else after I had already agreed to sell the system. I didn't feel great about it, but my nervousness superceded my sales obligation. That only my second item sold on marketplace though, so I'll do better in the future.
Unfortunately I don't think educating a seller on what an item is actually worth is ever really appreciated as a good faith gesture. I've given up on that approach just cause the seller either remains cynical and thinks you are trying to cheat them or is annoyed by you trying to be a know-it-all.
Mine would have to be when someone puts a sticker directly on the game label or box itself. And it's never just a small one. It's always the biggest stickiest sticker ever...
@MY CATS COOL If the label is glossy than you can usually remove it using a dry erase marker or a very tiny bit of isopropyl alcohol without doing any damage.
A couple pet peeves I have 1. When people actively hog the shelves, they purposely spread themselves out right in the middle, if they scoot over they would have more than enough room but they want the whole shelf to themselves when they are done with it. 2. When people leave their stuff in the beating hot sun and it gets sun damaged, how do you not realize the color is changing? 3. When they low ball me, I am selling on FB market place and I tell people it's 2/3 the price it's worth on price charting and i'll give a better deal if they buy multiple. And some dude says "I'll take all your Gamecube games for $10" lol what? No. (I had Luigis mansion, Crash TWoC, and LoTR.)
Yes why advertise if they can't be arsed getting back. What's worse is they take ages in responding and they only have email. Scenario Can I buy your game. 24hrs later Yes. Can I have your address 24 hours later -Yes here it is. Can I pick it up tomorrow or give me a date & time. 24 hours later - sorry I am busy then. When can I collect it any day & time you choose. 24 hours later - Wednesday Ok what time. 24 hours later No response Day and time please. 24 hours later. Wednesday 6pm Good see you then. 10 seconds later Sorry there sold as I waited too long. (Time waster but I know where he lives, by the time he reports the incident to the police I am well gone as it takes him 24 hours to report anything and he only uses enail) LOL
(Honorable mention) #6: Make sure the game or movie actually works. I went to a FYE store and got Halo 3: Limited edition for $17, brought it home, and it doesn't work!!! The worst part is that flea markets and certain stores and what not WILL NOT give you a refund. UGH!!!
Really enjoy your videos man! Always entertaining and worth the watch!! 😎 Side note - I notice you (sometimes jokingly) reference God! Are you a Christian? Just curious!
A pet peeve I have is when you ask someone if they have any video games and they tell you what they sold yesterday. I don't want to know what you had yesterday, I want to know what you have now.
Low balling when you know how much something goes for. Usually folks are willing to make deals at swaps and expos but going in like on a 50 dollar game you know is worth at least that and offering 25. I see tons of that and it makes me feel terrible for the sellers. People gotta eat too.
I hit yard sales and flea markets up every week and I always run into the person way way overvaluing their games ...and sometimes I politely try to inform them what it's really worth and half the time they have an attitude ...like a few weeks ago some idiot had a loose PlayStation classic ...just out of curiosity I asked how much thinking maybe $5 ...nope guy says $100! I'm like come again? he replies yeah it's worth it because it sells for over $100 in stores... which I reply sorry but it was $100 brand new when it first came out ...but most stores now sell for $20 brand new...he then calls me a lier and that I'm trying to cheat him.
Another pet peeve of mine is when they handle the disc the wrong way holy shit I just wanna say something to them or when they struggling to put the disc back in the case or they trying to take it out the case... omg and I've seen it happen in some gamestop's too lol or when they throw the case or be a rough with it smh lol stop throwing the case
Re sellers that dont even clean the stuff they sell and they want top dollar... PLUS, Second hand stores that sell stuff just 2 o 3 dollars below the new price!
A big one for me is sellers factoring in sentimental value on the price. I understand this copy of Super Mario Bros for the NES meant a lot to you as a kid, but it’s not worth $50, my dude.
Lol great video. You need to carry a spatula with you and start slapping hands away as soon as they infiltrate your personal space. You'll soon be known as "That Guy" and your problem won't exist anymore.
People who use a sharpie to write their name on a game cartridge. I have seen someone at a swap meet use a sharpie to write the prices directly on the label. Drives me insane!
Proper game sellers who just look at one site like ebay for game prices and end up putting on an inflated price because well it's on here for this much so that how much it must be
I miss gaming hunting . Wrong games in the case happens at thrift stores a lot , I once found a copy of Smash Bros Brawl in a sports game case( I wasn’t even mad ) .Great list man !
I cannot stand when collectors/resellers are standing at a shelf or a booth and are pricing every single item on their phones. Standing there blocking the isle for an hour just to fuck everyone out of what they collect so they can make a buck.
When a customer is buying one item that is already at a good price and the first thing they say is "Can I get a deal on this?" It's more acceptable if you were buying a stack of games, but one?
Yes. I feel the same way. I've held garage sales and I'm just waking up and there are 5 cars ready to buy or ask if I have games antiques or what ever. Lol. I feel ya pain my gee.
I agree so much with your number one. Probably one of my biggest peeves too. But, I don't bother trying to deal then, unless the price is only a bit off. I used to try and nicely point out values but I feel they often would not believe me.
#4 is a big one for me as well. I can't stand that frantic aggressiveness around me. #3 I am just like you. I can't invade people's space unless they are ready. Or else I would get way more stuff. In some cases people buy stuff the day before the Garage Sales.. =[
Im new to your channel and Im loving your content. Thank you for this video, these are some good tips. The second one (#4) is just good swap meet ettiquette!
I go to yard sales all the time and most likely i'll run into someone who is reselling like i do (but i'm also a collector too) and they'll ask me what kind of games i'm looking for. I usually tell them i look for sports games. Look buddy, i'm not going to tell you my secrets or what games sell for the most profit cause you're my competition and it took me years of failures and hard work to get this knowledge!
I'm with you with the people grabbing stuff out of your car when you are trying to set your table up!! IT really annoys me too! I pull up and get the tables out and then close the boot and wait for them to disapear now lol My no 1 peeve is people who say... "Well on ebay it goes for..." No just no!! If you want to quote ebay prices or store prices... then sell it on ebay! If you are selling at a flea market or car boot sale... its not worth those prices dude! ;)
Never try to enlighten them. If they're at a swap meet or something like that throwing out prices that don't make sense it's because they're dumb and you can't fix stupid. Now people on fb marketplace are another story. Alot of time those people are nice people that just don't have a clue what they're doing and just saw other people price something similarly.
If a seller quotes a price at $25, I like to use a little psychological warfare and offer him $40. Once he processed my offer and says yes, I then kindly refuse because it's too much; then walk away letting him feel that he just lost a $40 sale. Damn I'm good.
I remember as a kid having a good old-fashioned yard sale at my G-mo’s house; and the rowdy old lady up the road would riffle through the underwear and bellow out to other patrons “y’all come over and look at these draw’s for a quarter!”😓😆
Dang I was close. I thought #1 was when they have no idea on the price and look up the highest asking price on Ebay. Not selling price mind you, asking price. As soon as you hear let me check Ebay, walk away it's all over.
"The sticker, makes it sicker." ...UNLESS IT'S DIRECTLY ON THE GAME ART! Another is seeing games fade outside in the sun. Keep those games in the shade! Those are some of my major pet peeves. Nice video. *Thumbs Up*
Many of these pet peeves are somehow related to haggling. Here in Italy we don't haggle. Ever. It's considered a bad thing because it makes you look like you are poor and trying to get advantage of that. It's considered rude. Usually, if the product is too expensive, NOBODY EVEN PICKS IT UP. It stays unsold. Only after the prices drop, then, when considered "acceptably fair priced", the products get sold. We only have these "rude crowds" during holiday sales, when there are many discounts. Idiots and disrespectful people have no language, country or education system barrier: Idiots are idiots, no matter the place.
Me: oh! metal slug 4 and 5 for ps2, sir how much? Seller: that there is $40 dollars cause it has 2 games on it. Me: ?!?!...oh....ok....*places it right down* The logic sometimes...doesn't always equate.
You host garage sales? I love when I stumble into nerd sales. Every other gsaler in town is confused but me. What stuff do you part with from your nerdom?
Yea I'll normally only do garage sales for really cheap stuff. I always feel like people look at me funny if anything is over $5 at a garage sale hahah
