Did it come with the i/o board or any harness? Without any wiring, the easiest thing to do is get a jvs power supply with a 246/256 converter. I would not recommend a pc power supply as they do not supply the voltages properly. Super gun really is not needed as the 256 can output through vga at 640x480. What game did you get?
@@rxpainkillerrx1304 If yours came with the same wiring as my dark resurrection then the power supply should just hook to a 9 pin connection on the jamma harness that connects to the I/O board which connects via ribbon cable on the side and power cable on the front. 9 Pin arcade power supplies are quite common.
@@thegamenexus160 What it came with was the 256 system. 246 IO board with all it is connections. I wish I can show you a picture for a better description. Alot of old namco systems are extremely complicated.
Hello, sorry to bother, but I also just got myself a Namco System 256, with all the wiring and card readers. I am using my Jamma set up that I originally had with my 246, and the only problem I am having is connecting the two card readers together that you show at 15:10. Do you know the name of that wire? That is the only one I seem to be missing from my set up.
The wire that powers the card reader on my Tekken 5 harness almost looks custom. I can honestly say I do not know if it is original or if whoever had this just crimped the wires themselves as the wire might have just been jammed into the connecter.
I believe a special I/O board is used for the guns, I would recommend checking for the games manual online for more info on that setup, unless you plan to use OpenJVS which is much easier. As far as the basics to get it running, just power supply (decent wattage needed), If you are opting for open jvs then you would just need to use that as tie i/o, and then of course only a vga cable (or conversion to hdmi) and audio solution is needed. I believe the Gun setup for these uses some sort of gun board and a bunch of leds around the screen if you want to do it the authentic way not to mention a pair of arcade light guns which are becoming more and more expensive today. I believe both Cobra and Time Crisis 3 run on 246c boards, a 256 board is not needed.
Nope, the two games use completely different types of cards. basically Tekken 5 cards are the old kind and Tekken 6 are the newer kind. But original Tekken 5 machine card readers work on DR.
i was thinking of picking up the tekken 5 cabinet. I understand it's a namco 256 but if i wanted to play dark resurrection or tekken 4 for example, is it as simple as switching out the dvd and security dongles? or is there more involved? apologies if this is a simple one, i am very ignorant to the way arcade machines work
Tekken 5 DR can easily be swapped for the original version with a simple dongle and disc swap. I have heard people say Tekken 4 will not work on 256 (most games work in 246+ mode) but have never tried it myself.
