I like how plot armor started to appear from Season 5 to the end, such a coincidence that's also where the quality of the show also started to plummet.
@@manthe3711 nah season 1 to 4 has a good porcentage of luck (not bad at all, life is sometime a dice) but after the season five there is really "plot armor" (just unreallistic bad writing), you have to know the diference.
jamies hand scene is the only plot armor im fine with. I actually really want him to do that to then build into him using a 2nd knife hand after realizing how op it can be to have an arm that can detach into whatever tool necessary
Same. That was wasted potential right there. All plot armor should be something badass like that, where it's less no arrows hit Jon and more Jaime instinctively raises his hand to block/stop an attack with his good arm (out of habit) and it's also the one that happens to have the golden hand.
Like some Sekiro shit, nah but for real I thought to myself he can really start parrying with his metal hand by just every now and then swiping away blades coming at him.
@@ColonCommander Exactly imagine a Jamie who would counter with his right metal hand and strike at opportune moments with a knife in his left hand. Would have been a unique style that keeps him a threat
@@Mexican_Rangerexactly, a weakness turned into an unexpected strength is so much more satisfying. Especially because with things like you mentioned, Jon being in direct arrow fire for 10 mins straight and not getting hit isn’t really satisfying, it’s highly unlikely and it isn’t overcome logically, he didn’t do anything he just got “lucky” which is kind of annoying to watch as thousands of other people get shot around him. With Jamie’s golden hand it makes sense, of course a sword isn’t going to damage him if he’s blocking it with metal, but I just didn’t see it coming because we automatically viewed a lost hand as a weakness in battle, and he discovered it in a natural way (reflex). And then… he never used that metal hand as a combat strategy ever again for some reason😞
That’s a classic movie trope, big strong bad guy knocks the hero around rather than a finishing blow for no reason. There are a few instances where you can excuse it as toying with their victim, but it’s even done with cold calculating enemies, like the white Walker here
That's why I love The King's first duel scene. Realistic knocking around, punching, heavy blow, but it's all believable because of the armor and the way you have to kill your enemy; tiring them out.
yea Arya surviving being stabbed I the stomach several tike then falling in a dirty river. did they not dump their feces in the water in those times? shes dead if not by blood loss then by infection. Hell Khal Drago died by an infected cut. Robert died by being gored and this little teenaged girl survives multiple stab wound and someone twisting the knife to boot. shes dead from major damage, blood loos or infection
That’s what happens when they stop adapting the wel written books with well written stakes and just throw shit infused with action at our screens instead of
Tbh any other series i probably wouldn't have thought twice about it. But GoT established its grounded nature for that sort of thing so many times, so it just doesn't get that leeway
Changed character arcs and prophecy forgotten didn't start until season 8, maybe the end of season 7. For sansa it was season 6 since she randomly was given authority. Plot armor was in all seasons but the later season definitely made it worse.
i would have been more fine with it if jon kept dying and being brought back by the red woman slowly losing his mind because of the truama of repeatedly dying
Arya getting multiple stabs in a world where there's no antibiotics and no vaccines and still being able to run the entire city and recover like it's nothing was just sad. I can't help but laugh at Preston Jacobs for calling her wolverine
Watching this video, I realise that the Night King is a very misunderstood character. He actually wants peace in the kingdom. That's why he trains his zombies to give out hugs. #justiceforhuggingzombies
How is that logical? Odds of that sword hitting exactly small point are minimal. Not to mention why the guy attacking him didnt use his second hand to punch Jaime in the face?
Aryas multiple stabs in her stomach was a death sentence in that era, you dont survive wounds like that without surgery. Internal organ damage, blood loss, infection.
ive always thought that Jon having the plot armor in the battle was meant to be in the story, like the plot armor is meant to be ridiculous since he is "chosen" to survive or whatever.
@@joeysalazar98And you could totally make it work. Jon’s chosen to be the one true king or survivor or whatever you wanna call him. He’s chosen by whichever gods: the Lord of light, the old and/or new gods, etc. Jon does not take any pride in that whatsoever because he feels that this means that those around him are going to die no matter what and that he has no power to stop it. If it’s meant for them to die so he can live/prevail, then it’s meant to happen. He has extreme moral dilemma over this. Hell maybe he even gets reckless about it by trying to do more things alone, thus resulting in even more people dying. Or even trying to save people from death only to accidentally overlook something else that results in more death. All of this comes to an arc for him where he has to realize the true meaning behind his importance. He has to realize why him prevailing over everyone else creates a balance. If you look at Jon throughout the show, he was never just straight up cruel or soft. He was understanding and forgiving when he needed to be and he was strong and just when he needed to be, never being too weak and soft, or too cruel and apathetic. Hell, he helped dwindle the conflict between the watch and the wildlings. Not only that but that, while yes people will die, they died for him. That fighting to protect the living means having more people alive to fight FOR. Idk I’m a dumbass and it’s midnight, I just think it would make for a good moral dilemma and character arc for Jon, if done right😂😂
U can kive with john snow plot armor, but i can't live with Aria's Bravos scene and season 8 long night. That's not plot arnor, that's plot whole armor.
Ok but can we all just talk about how much plot armour Daenerys has throughout the entire series? Look, I adore her up until the cursed season but let’s be honest here: Jorah, Barristan and her dragons are all literally ex machinas that exist for *her*
You adored her and missed all those times she either burnt or threaten to burn her enemies, whole cities and armies? She was no better than the rest of them, just another power-hungry revenge-obsessed player of the game of thrones.
Deux ex machina is unreasonable intervention. Jorah, Barristan and the dragons all have a reason to be with her, they didn't just pop up out of nowhere.
0:49 Its always like that, BIG EVIL guy who is smart to unite ppl or make a really good plan, just throws good guy around. And let me tell you, if he trhowed him that hard by just grabing his shoulder that shoulder would bursted
It's such a cardinal rule at this point in any action movie that when a main character gets jumped, they tend to be thrown/tossed so they have a chance to draw their weapon and fight.
The fact that some people actually defend this season proves how the show's initial intelligence was wasted on them. Like giving fine wine to an alcoholic who would drinks piss if it makes him drunk.
the Night king shot the 1st spear and hit one flying dragon , while the other dragon carrying the rest was staying still , loweground , easier to hit with the gang on its back, and he misses ,
Definitely more of use than a golden hand, but he'd lack the necessary wrist movements to fight properly, so chances are, he'd be better off training with his left hand either way. Though attaching a shield to his right forearm would at least give him some extra defence to compensate somewhat for the skill loss.
Any idea how much the wrist is used in battle? It'd be almost useless. What wouldn't be useless iss a slightly larger round surface that would function a bit like a buckler. It still wouldn't be as effective as a handheld centergrip shield due to the same lack of wrist movement, but it'd actually be tremendously effective at deflecting attacks. Get a 2lbs arming sword or broadsword and a buckler for a hand and you'd legit be a menace, especially if you armor the right arm even heavier, especially the forearm. Can even get an entire gauntlet. You'd basically have this ''Haha, fuck you very much'' waving around in your opponent's face every time they try to slice you.
if u are spiritually attached with a show like game of thrones for nearly a decade of constant foreshadowing and building up to get a giant poop for an end then it is a fuckin trauma
@@yevgeniyaleshchenko849on one hand, people overuse words so much they use their meaning. On the other hand, this one is clearly a joke/an exaggeration, and I feel like it’s whatever. It’s those who call someone being mean to them abuse who are insulting, and they actually mean it.
The one I hate the most is Night King not snapping Arya’s neck, he is shown through the episode as an unstoppable creature with the strength of at least 15 men. Simply the way Arya crashes her own neck into the Night King’s super hard hands, would’ve stunned her for enough time for her not to be able to react, then night king could’ve 1.- throw her into a wall 2.- snap her neck in a fraction of a second 3.- literally punch her head off But they decided to have him kindly stare at her and even watch how her knife flies from one hand to the other just to then let himself get stabbed. Splendid!
I'm kinda ok with the hand block thingy, everyone involved knows instantly that this was pure luck, wouldn't work other 99 times out of 100, but hey, it was possible and happened to work this time. It's not like this became his signature realiable move. People do get really lucky from time to time, just not completing a triathlon in feces with every internal organ punctured lucky.
1:31 I agree with the entire vid, but... Jon's ressurection? Really? Then at least you should have added Beric's ressurection as well. Will you consider his ressurection in the book plot armor as well?
When Dondarion and even Catelyn Tully are resurrected they both lose something. Jon is basically unaffected by the fact he died. The only things that plot line achieves is it allows him to remove all the characters he doesn't like at the wall and it gives him a loophole to leave the night's watch.
@@forcecaptainoverlordsuprem2964 Catelyn only ressurrects in the books. Indeed he seems to be unaffected by being brought back. But he only ressurrected once. Beric lost count, but it was at least 4-5 before facing the Hound. Even still the viewer can only know about the changes he goes through because he mentions it. Otherwise, he is always the same character. And there is also not much to be achieved in plot if not perhaps showing more about the magic in it's world and R'lhor....and creating a foreshadowing for Jon's ressurection. And they were problably were trying to make it like in the books, where he also problably won't lose part of his mind because it all points the he warged into Ghost just prior to his body's death. So , when he returns his mind will problably just warg back. He will problably be changed by the experience nonetheless.
@@ericLpereira1989 Jon doesn't know how to warg, he only ever does it when he sleeps. Bran needed Jojen Reed to help him awaken his 3rd eye. Noone had done that for Jon. So he'll definitely come back a little crazy (if winds of winter ever comes out)
@@forcecaptainoverlordsuprem2964 Arya learned by herself when warging into a cat. Anyway, just like when sleeping, warging into ghost doesn't need to be intentional, just that something that he managed to do in a desperate moment and when about to lose consciousness (kinda not much different from sleeping). And I don't think that it was just coincidence that the prologue of Dance of Dragons ended with Varamyr Sixskins doing preciselly that same thing when he dies. Much likely it was another foreshadowing to Jon's case.
The last thing was neither a clap nor plot armor though. They didn't punish John because they all understood that he did them all a huge favor by removing a rising dictator. They only expelled him to preserve some semblance of ''rendering justice'' but in reality everyone knew he did the right thing otherwise Daenerys would burn the whole world. It's the same reasoning as why Katniss wasn't punished for killing the new president who would be no better than the current president Snow.
Most of this is just the writers trying to make the scenes look cinematic and good while keeping the characters alive but just are making a lot of the fights look silly in slow motion. But that’s hard work. Gotta give the credit.
I will never get over fight scenes where someone either grabs someone they have no reason to grab or, in a grapple they are clearly winning, throws the dude they were previously pummeling to death about ten feet away so they can catch their breath and re-arm, all while the other guy slowly walks up to them to... do the thing they were just winning at doing.
worth noting Jon coming back isnt quite plot armor, but they didnt really handle it well either. Its heavily implied that it will also happen in the books but there likely will be far more in the ways of consequences for it.
Technically it’s not even plot armor since in the end nobody’s plot goes anywhere and it’s all thrown in the garbage except the underdeveloped one *cough* bran *cough*
The arrow barrage part isn’t that unbelievable because it’s not like the arrows just make a blanket of death and kill everyone. Otherwise the same argument can be made for the entirety of Jon’s army
Turmond surviving the collapse of the wall is the craziest plot armor moment ever we see massive pieces of ice falling directly onto the castle he was traveling down to yet he made it unharmed??
Always been a big believer that they should've cut away at the start of the battle of bastards to Sansa and then littlefinger rides up to met her. They have some dialgoue and watch the battle from a distance. That way the viewer can still see what's happening but has no idea what happens to John. The show exposing itself to plot armor moments is what made it questionable, but you can use people's imagination to make them wonder what's happening
Regarding the arrow barrages: everyone else who kept fighting ALSO survived those same barrages….white walker scene was diabolically plot armored up though lol
I could imagine that the white walker knew jon was about to grab dragon glass weapons, so he wanted him away of it asap and not possibly attack him one last time before dying. Probably not the case here tho and more plot armor like in the scene afterwards
Those wight battles of beyond the wall and specially long night look even more ridiculous after you read the battle of fist in 3rd book. A wight just grabs some guy and twists the head. From that battle it looks like wights are very strong but not fast. In show wight's abilities depend on the situation and what plot wants.
The Night King is strong enough to throw a spear at a Dragon flying hundreds or maybe thousands of meters away from him and one shot it. He didn't even have to snap Arya's neck when he grabbed her, all he had to do was close his hand softly and her head would have been popped off like the top of a champagne bottle.
Not to mention The Moutain who was cut and wounded multiple times, then pierced in the chest by a spear, and after like one minute of agony lying on the ground and loosing blood, was still able to put Oberyn to the ground and crush his head...like, ok he's a beast, but he still got internal organs, right? No? 🤷
If I remember correctly, being a blood rider with someone means that you would go in extreme lengths to avenge them were they to be killed. Dany had declared a blood pact with each and every one of the Dothraki. Another plot point ignored. (Correct me if I am wrong)
I actually thought Tormund was gonna die in the White Walker scene the first time viewing it. Then I realized white walkers can’t actually kill named characters for some reason
Jaime stopping the sword with his golden hand was clever as hell, not plot armor. Now the plot the scene existed in? _That_ was garbage. Edit: Also, Jaime sinking in full armor (right at the edge of a river, too, where the water should be relatively shallow?) only to be miraculously rescued by Bronn was definitely plot armor.
I would have rathered to wait till 2026 or 2027 then let game of thrones be ruined , they gave characters so much plot armor just to kill them in season 8 anyway
The “plot armor” argument is just so stupid, the writers put them in that position to begin with expecting the same result that they could’ve get to in many other ways.
