@@js6729LMAO no Im fishing for you to spoil more than you already have, after you already just said Arya and Brienne meet. Are you mentally stupid? You do know they havent met right and therefore you're the one spoiling? and then youre dumb enough to ask if Im trying to spoil LOOLL
Oh my sweet summer child.... I've seen numerous reactions and yours are by far my favorites. I love your excitement and the way you are grasping the show. Can't wait for the next episode. ❤
Gwendolyn Christie is Brienne of Tarth, one of the greatest characters in the series. She appears in the Star Wars sequels and gets super giddy when talking about it. She is very funny. When you finish the series. You need to watch her interviews with a certain fellow cast member. That person drives her insane in the best way. She and Emilia Clarke (Danerys) are my two favorites to watch in interviews. They are both very funny.
A bit of real-life trivia ... The idea of "wildfire" in Game Of Thrones is similar to a unique military asset that the Eastern Roman, or Byzantine Empire used in the Middle Ages to protect Constantinople, which today is the Turkish city of Istanbul. It was known as Greek fire. It was a sort of petroleum jelly that could be flung at attacking ships and dumped on attacking soldiers, to burn them. It was kind of alike a secret weapon that was one of the reasons why Constantinople withstood attack for so many centuries before finally being conquered in the 1400s.
That’s where I first noticed her and fell in love She also has an extremely short part in Captain America: The First Avenger - she’s the clerk who kisses Steve and makes Peggy jealous (she takes several shots at his new shield while he’s holding it in the next scene)
I’m so happy with how quickly you’re reacting to this show. There’s another channel I watch that just started the show but they do one a week. Which means they’ll finish the show in 2026. Youre awesome!
19:05 The hand of the king in theory has all the power in the relm after the king. The problem in this world is that titles mean nothing compared to actual respect.
Information for Lady Amber: -- The tall Actress Gwendolyn Christie (6' 3") portrays Brienne of Tarth - the warrior woman who pledged to protect Lady Catelyn Stark. -- A man who calls himself Jaqen H'ghar is assisting Arya Stark with 3 deaths as she saved 3 lives by giving him an axe to free himself and two others from the burning cage. -- The smoke demon spawn with the face of Stannis is known as the Shadow Baby. -- After each season of Game of Thrones there is a GoT Histories and Lore video you can find on RU-vid. It is very beneficial to watch after each season. To avoid spoilers - Do not read the comment section or watch ahead of each season.
Girl, you are the first reactor I’ve seen that’s clearly and quickly understood Bran’s premonition about the sea and Greyjoy’s impending attack on Winterfell. Good job!! 👏🏾 👏🏾
Brienne (the female 'knight' (though women can't be knights)) is played by Gwendoline Christie. She looks pretty rough and plain in most of GoT, but she scrubs up VERY nicely: go look up some pictures of her attending red carpet events is designer dresses and you'll find it hard to believe it's the same woman. She's also a hell of a character with a great sense of humour. After you've finished the series (NOT NOW, cos spoilers) you should look up some of the cast promo interviews with her. She's hilarious.
Check out Emilia Clarke's story during the filming of Game of Thrones. She survived two brain aneurysms and a bleeding stroke and suffered from aphasia. She had a remarkable recovery.
The books ("A Song of Ice and Fire") are sort of like 10 books that smoothly gel into one, in that each chapter is told through the POV of a certain character. Can't tell you how many times I "fast-forwarded" (skipped chapters) to directly continue a certain plotline. Glad you are enjoying the series thus far.
Breanne of Tarth is my favorite character. the new Game of Thrones show coming out soon is called Knight of the 7 Kingdoms and it revolves around duncan the tall who is an ancestor of Breanne.
Have you watched the History and Lore video from the end of Season 1 yet, Amber? Those videos are official and are meant to be watched after the end of each season, so they give you a lot of background without spoiling anything. They're really good: pretty much essential for understanding the backstories to all of this if you haven't read the books. You're doing a great job by the way: you're even picking up some of the symbolism that runs right through GoT like veins in marble. The symbolism is HUGE and multi-layered. There are GoT RU-vidrs who've made 10+ year careers out of analysing it and are still going strong.
I echo this @AmberReacts24. Please watch (and react to them) after you are done with season 2. You will see how big and established this world amd its histores are. Thanks for posting this @MrHws5mp
Loved your inquiry, “do we want Stannis on the Iron Throne?” You just GET this series Amber. Stannis is such a complex figure (like so much of the cast). What a blast experiencing this show again with you!
Arya - Jaqen Hagar was in the cage when the Lanisters came for Gendry. She "helped" them by giving them what they needed to open the cage. They would have died - therefore arya stole 3 deaths from the red god.
The 'shadow' that killed Renly Baratheon isn't lurking around, its job is done - it was a one-time thing, that's what it was created for. Loving your GoT journey, Amber, keep going!
There is this funny little passage in the book this comes from, where Wisdom Hallyne is talking with Tyrion and says that at first their making of the wildfire went kinda slow, and then all of a sudden they got so good at it they were cranking it out. He said it like it was something weird and Tyrion was like, "okay, so?" and Hallyne says something like, "Oh, just something I learned during my training... You don't suppose there are any dragons about, do you?" Because apparently the existence of dragons makes the wildfire-making process more potent or something. And I don't remember if Tyrion and the gang know about Dany's dragons yet. I don't think they do!
As for Tyrion's authority, he's acting Hand of the King, meaning second only to the king. Kind of like the king's vice president. Cersei isn't supposed to have any authority at all because she's never been a ruling queen, only Queen Consort, and her husband is now dead. This is one reason Tywin sent Tyrion to rein things in -- Cersei is stepping out of bounds constantly. It looks bad, if nothing else.
You're going through these like a hot knife through butter. You just caught up with another reaction channel I follow who has been doing GoT for months. 😁(shout-out to Movie Munchies).
The little but hole king is in charge. The little man is hand of the king or second in command. The kings mother has no rank. That's why Terion can take charge of the wild fire from the queen mother. She has no OFFICIAL power..... They are just scared of her.
Actually the kings mother is Queen Regent as far as title and has as much power as the king allows her to have whether it is official or not. A cunning mother could get her child to do anything she wants and that is Cersie.
I like the Game of Thrones even more than lord of the rings. It's just so captivating that you find yourself thinking about it often. It's been some time since I had first watched it, so it's good to refresh. I'm also going to refresh my memory of the House of Dragons first season before I start on the second one.
"Wild fire" is a bit like napalm. Historically, the Byzantine navy used something called "Greek fire" against their enemies. They had a device called a siphon mounted on the bow of the ship that could hose the enemy ships with this burning fluid that was very hard to put out. The recipe they used for making it was kept secret and is not known today.
So many reactors don't realize, so I just gotta say - everyone is like, "Aw Jorah loves her, he's Sir Friend Zone" but he's a MIDDLE AGED MAN and Dany is supposed to be a teenager (she was supposed to be *twelve* at the start, of course the show aged her up a bit). He better stay Sir Friend Zone or that would be very wrong. LOL
The reciprocal nature of loyalty is the heart of feudalism. Duty doesn't just flow up the chain of social standing, it flows down as well (at least in theory, the lowest echelons rarely see much thought or effort expended for them individually). So while a lord has obligations to his king, the king also has obligations to the lord, the same with a lord and his knights/men-at-arms, etc. A king/lord who neglects his obligations (fair justice, protection from peer and outside violence, maintenance of order, etc) is not likely to retain the loyalty of his vassals for very long.
Cersai is technically the Dowager Queen, or queen mother as she is the mother of King Joffery. She was the Queen Consort when Robert was alive but now that her son has ascended the throne her title changes. A dowager queen is the widow of the king and the queen mother is a dowager queen whose child has ascended the throne, Cersai currently holds little power but refuses to admit or accept that. Tyrion as the interim hand of the king in place of his father outranks everyone but the king, he can even sit the throne in King Joffery's place as regent, if needed. A Queen Regent is a wife/mother who rules in place of her spouse or child when there is no hand of the king to take the regents position.
Your hit list is gonna ebb and flow.. and much of the time will match up with Arya’s list of names. Keep watching Daenerys and how she reacts and who her advisors are… watch Arya and her bad assery (her interactions with Tywin like this episode are the BOMB)… and keep watching Tyrion - his wit and his intelligence are an amazing 1-2 punch of a weapon But as you saw in the first three minutes of this episode… things can turn in a heartbeat
Arya did not understand why Jaqen H'ghar was wearing a Lannister outfit (her enemy). He appears to have joined the Lannisters. (We are not told why he was in the wagon in the first place. Or why he was in a black cell.) The kids did argue earlier about what it means to be a Knight or what putting armor on means. As you can see, she is learning how to be an agent as "cup bearer" for Tywin Lannister.
Brienne of Tarth will end up being one of your favorite characters, guaranteed. She is a serious badass. I also ended up caring deeply about Davos Seaworth, the Onion Knight. Even though he starts out very indebted to Stannis and loyal to him for that reason, his course changes throughout the series. Amber, I know you do not have tons of time to read these days, but I know you would LOVE all the details in the book series, A Song of Ice and Fire. There were SO MANY plot lines that had to be cut so thy could make this series. But you get so much more insight into each character and so much more of the history and the lore if you ever get to read the books. Put the series on your "To Read Someday" list!
Good reaction Amber. So glad you’re getting into it. If you have time you should check the Game Of Thrones lore series. Lots of backstories that will help you stay in the game.
Amber, I love your comments and you say things that make me want to be your friend. LOL there are times that when you're talking and you're missing out on crucial information. I'm not complaining, just letting you know that there are crucial plot points that you've missed sometimes. Regardless, keep up the good work and valar morghulis.
I agree its hard being a pacifist and loving the revenge at same time, lol. I love Brianne, shes def a boss. Same with the strength of Arya, a boss. U'll def revise ur list a few hundred times, lmao. I know I did. Being dyslexic Im the opposite, I do better with listening and visual than just reading. Cool and creepy house of the undying doppleganger dude. The dragons r addicting, always obsessed. Hope u and the family r well. Still stuck in hospital here, just been catching up. Thanx so uch, take care, Peace
HI Amber Your reactions and comments are very precise and I am enjoying this trip down memory lane with you here A lot. I would not spoil any of it for you and although I know the outcome and you are a sweet summer child try to not to get to attached to anyone in this.... I got my heart broken over a few deaths in Game Of Thrones . You , I , and many others are very attached to certain characters for their good qualities and hate the ones that are ruthless in Game Of Thrones . I really Love Game Of Thrones... with all of my heart still and if I could I would go back and change so many scenarios and many I Love just as they are . The arc of Jamie Lannister would be another I would change but... If I could go back and rewrite just one scenario it would be to have Renly Baratheon be king. He had such respect for Eddard Stark and the Stark family he would have not ever had any of them separated or harmed . He would have been the Best king and that is one scenario that broke my heart. His people and his knights Loved him dearly especially Sir Loras Tyrell.... it did not matter to me about who he was in Love with. Brienne of Tarth loved him for his kindness. It is explained later on in the series why Brienne was so loyal to Renly (she makes a speech about him that explains her loyalty to Renly) . To me he was so easy on the eyes as well. To me Renly would have made the Best king. I am so excited you are taking this journey Amber . You really have a way of pulling me back into this series I really do hold dear . Thank you for your channel here very much.
19:13 Tyrion Lannister is functioning as the person of the Hand of the King aka Tywin Lannister. The Hands power is basically that of being the word of the King. The Queen Mother/Regent Cersei Lannister, in comparison, has very few powers beyond influence. She is simply a master at weaving it into Power. Tyrion can simply take her wildfire and she will act as if it was never hers. If Joffrey Baratheon KNEW wth was going on and decided he wanted opposite than Tyrion would usually be obligated to follow through. BUT and this is a Big but Tywin Lannister is the Head of the Lannister Family in which all the players are below him in rank and he is not afraid to wield that power over them all. ++ Tywin told Tyrion to "take the King in hand if need be"
