@Son of: Don’t slack on season 6 man. Episodes 2, 4, 5, and especially 9&10. Season 5 wasn’t quite as good as 6, but the last 3 episodes were also great.
@I agree Season 5 was dark, but I don’t know if it was quite as dark as 3... you know why. But S4 wasn’t too bad other than the mountain fight. They got all soft after that. Season 8 was pretty much a marvel movie.
Four was, in my opinion, the last of the good GOT Seasons. The reason why every character is your words "doing something" is because Season 4 was based on the second half/last third of A Storm of Swords, the third book in the series.
I feel like GOT started exploding after season 3. cause from season 4 and on the pacing really went up and I feel like that attracted a broader audience. I also feel like it got less dark from that point on.
I actually just finished up season 2 today. Enjoyed the final episode but wasn’t as big of a fan. Felt like a slower season and I appreciated the more fast paced season of the first one. Pretty excited to watch season 3 though! Great video Sean! Enjoying this Sean Chandler Plus channel. The more Chandler I can get, the happier I am! That came out slightly wrong.
Hey Sean have you ever seen an HBO show called the Outsider? It’s really good, Ben Mendelsohn (I think I spelled that correctly) from captain marvel and rogue one stars in it. It’s based on a Stephen king book and I highly recommend both the book and show. 👍
While still amazing I found Season's 1 and 2 a little slow (not that, that is a bad thing) Season 3 and season 4 are where stuff gets insane. 2 of the best season's of TV ever. You are getting to the thick of it.
I'm not gonna deny that Theon is complex, but I couldn't stand him in this season. I found him pathetic, whiny, annoying, and very enjoyable to watch in pain. Joffrey, on the other hand, is so evil, so despicable, so disgusting, so pathologically insane, that I found him very entertaining.
Ehhh this channel doesn't exist to post crap content. Haha. So I would hope you'd find some great things here. It exists to cover niche or older content in a more relaxed form. Videos like this are what this channel is for. I want to have a place where if I watch an older movie or tv show I can just talk about it without needing to fit it into my content calendar. I map out my main channel months in advance and tinker with strategy. It stops me from talking about things which people would be interested in. Hence the existence of this channel. If I do rankings of the seasons or characters, that will be on the main channel and in my usual highly edited fashion.
I am aware if I posted it on the main channel it would get more views in the short term, but that also means it's a lot more likely to drive traffic to this new channel which needs WATCH TIME a lot more than my main channel. At this moment in time, views and watch time here means a lot more to me.
fun fact: Each chapter in the books is a characters point of view. In the case of Robb though, he is not a POV character in the books and instead we see and learn about him through Caetlyn’s POV, which is awesome because every thing she says or thinks in regards to him are all a mother looking after her child.
Just to set expectations, I don't think I'll be able to maintain reviewing a season each week. I'm making may through, but some seasons will take longer than others.
Hey Sean I'm really happy that you're liking the show but I wouldn't read many comments because there are a lot of jerks out there who just want to spoil the show to you, so be careful
My favorite character is Tyrion too! He might be a Lannister, but he is much different from them. He is not evil and he is undermined by many people for his height. He is one of the few characters I root for in this show.
To me, his biggest flaw is that he wants to be loved more than anything, which causes him to do questionable things, like fight to keep his 'repulsive nephew' on the iron throne if he can be the hero who people thank for it.
I'm too scared I'll accidentally spoil something if I comment about the show but, I would just say I enjoyed the video and looking forward to your thoughts on the rest of the series.
Love season two, especially all the political scenes in kings landing, it's my second favorite season right behind season 4 I can't wait til you get up to that.
I agree about Tyrion he is so complex and interesting. I really think he’s one of the all time great characters. Just very interesting. The complexity of this show and world building is some of the best. I’ve read and watched videos for hours about certain characters family history going back thousands of years and I start to forget this is all fiction.
I’m all for shows like this. Where they explore the evil in humans and how in the real world Evil can be rewarded, although of course in the end it all comes crumbling down 😉

When I listen to your opinions it really makes me look at the show in a different way. I see not only the show but all of the characters mostly differently than you do but I understand exactly why you view it the way you do. It’s more interesting watching a video form somebody who actually has a whole different opinion on the show than you do as it’s a whole new look on it and adds much more to what I’m thinking for myself about the show
I couldn't stand theon's turn because it came out of nowhere and even with the context of the family that made you and the family that raised you, I didn't buy theon choosing against the Stark's based on the situations
Great video. I am a huge fan. I am shocked you didnt talk about stannis. I also thought theon interesting too. Theon was a hostage to the Stark's so I understand why he chose his family over the Stark's but I fault theon for taking winterfall and his actions there. But I felt sorry for him because he was confused. No matter what decision he would have made, he would have been seen a traitor either way.
Oh, KEEP GOING! It definitely gets MUCH better from here! Some much-needed, and well-earned catharsis comes, eventually. It just HAS to be earned. (Which it will, as long as you stick with it.) 👍 It's great to see someone else reviewing these stories again, for the first time. I waited until season 7 was done before even starting the show, to finally see what all the fuss was about lol and then I had to wait along with everybody else for season 8, while watching people get caught up and make episode reviews in the meantime all over RU-vid. If I could give you ANY advice, it would be to PLEASE don't give up on it! There's plenty of rough times ahead, times you'll want to turn your TV off and never watch the show again, and you'll be somehow uncontrollably compelled to come back, regardless. (😂you'll see!!) I'm not going to lie and say it doesn't get worse, because it does. It gets FAR worse at times, to certain characters who seemingly NEVER catch a break. But, that catharsis DOES come, there are just as many fist-pumping, "Hell YEAH!!" moments to come. When you'll be launching out of your chair celebrating what you just saw happen, I guarantee! Stick with it, you'll be glad you did! 🤜💥🤛

@@SeanChandlerPlus could definitely see a Sean Kanan and Sean Chandler team up in season 4 I'm pretty new the karate kid world only watching it for the first time in October despite being 27 but Cobra Kai has fast became by favourite TV show up there with breaking bad and game of thrones for me, keep up the good work love the videos from the UK.
As it goes along that evens out a good bit but the first couple seasons are brutal…well the whole thing is brutal. But at least there’s some victories eventually.

So I alluded to him in my general thoughts and the battle of blackwater. In all those discussions I was referencing Tyrion Davos. Whenever I talked about someone on both sides you're rotting for while not necessarily championing their arm winning, fill in Davos.

Stannis is a very complex character, he’s a subversion and semi-recreation of the epic chosen one character but when he’s introduced he’s presented as a villain but if you’re someone like me who constantly dissects characters, he turns out to be very well-intentioned and fair. He’s basically a meaner version of Ned Stark and George R.R. Martin purposefully wrote him as a parallel to Daenerys.
I've never seen any Game of Thrones. I kept up with it while the final season was being released, but never actually watched it. I think I might check some of it out at some point, just not right now.
Sean you didn't have to get into it! I love the show personally but come on man! Watch what you like! Just cause fans pressure you to watch something, doesn't mean you have to watch it. Watch whatever you want and if you get bored with GOT, nothing wrong with that! You are awesome man!
Jaime, easily the most enjoyable total 180° in terms of how likeable he gets. I would even say my favorite character all in all. Maybe a bit less so the last 2 seasons but that's the overall show's decline in writing quality.
100% agree with your point Daenerys plot line for this series, whenever it got to her scenes I was just waiting for them to be over. I understand the trepidation about investing in a story that almost seems cynical and pessimistic in its worldview, but I appreciate the realism behind it. These stories progress in a way that just makes sense, and in the case of game of thrones it’s refreshing that the people good and bad are real, they don’t feel like characters they feel like people. I feel it effectively covers the spectrum of personalities and convincingly continues or wraps up the journeys in a logical way.
The Arya-Tywin interaction must be the best addition to the books the creators of the show have done. In the books it was actually Roose Bolton she served but it's nowhere near as interesting.

STANNIS! Read the books Sean, then you can really appreciate the adaptation. And you can see where the show falls off the rails after Season 4, once they run out of source material
They still used some of the source material in 5 and I’ve heard that season 6 is basically what the Winds of Winter is gonna be but I really hope that A Dream of Spring will end this show better
No, it didn't. This is just a meaningless narrative made up by book purists, who dislike anything that doesn't fit their ideas and wishes, so stop talking nonsense and stop try to rob someone else enjoyment. I don't see how s1, s2 or even 3 are so much better than s5 or s6 for example, because they just aren't. I guess you're one of those who still refuses to accept that Stannis will do the same things in the books that he's done in the show. 😉
@@gfilmer7150 I know he wasn't a big part of the book but to me in the show he was my favorite character and once they killed him off, they struggled to find footing since he was the main character before

It depends on what you want from a show. Season 6 and 7 are a lot more epic and big battles and a lot of people I know like them more. but it terms of the writing seasons 3 and 4 are the peak.

Hey Sean, love the review. But why didn't you mention Bran or Stannis? Both of them are pretty great characters with compelling story arcs as well. You should pay attention to them as well.
Yeah it was tough to cover everything. As is the video was already over 30 minutes. It's a show that's very easy to talk about for a very long time. Haha
honestly Grim Dark Fantasy is not very fun , I get it George R R Martin wants it to reflect reality , but why would it be that entertaining to watch and read horrible things ,its a great show and season 2 is great but i still feel if i want to watch morally grey people slaughter eachother i can just read about the 100 years war and war of the roses .
