He would make an amazing Imperial officer in one of the new Star wars films.

This is weird seeing Tywin actually smile.

He has a very aristocratic air and commands respect in real life. These are the type of men who in real times of distress, end up leading. It is just who he is. Excellent casting!!!!

"Have you read the books?" *without hesitation* "No, they're far too thick." Priceless.

I want Charles Dance to read books to me. That voice is magic.

I love this guy, he reminds me of Christopher Lee (Saruman). He always brings a certain regal dignity to his roles.

If Tywin Lanister was featured in Mortal Kombat, his finisher would have to be the Twyin death stare, insult their birth and life before staring them in the eyes and making them explode.

“As an actor you often have to spend, expend a lot of energy trying to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear and improve bad writing.” Best line I’ve ever heard from him

If there was a character who was better in the show than in the books, it's Charles Dance!

Charles Dance, Patrick Stewart & Ian McClellan. Proper actors with proper voices, gravitas with every word. They could read the phone book & still make it enthralling.

the scenes involving Maisie Williams are some of the best in the series, because of the interaction between characters: Tywin-Arya, Sandor-Arya, Syrio-Arya, Eddard-Arya, all great

GODS ! the writing was strong back then !

I watch Game of Thrones and I am just in awe every time Charles Dance comes on the screen, by far the most commanding actor on the show. Every scene he appears in is 100% his (perhaps except his scene with Diana Rigg).

I can literally listen to Charles Dance all day. Seeing him smile freaked me out, after getting used to watching him being Tywin for so long.

"Every once in a very long while, Lord Tywin Lannister would actually threaten to smile; he never did, but the threat alone was terrible to behold" Tyrion Lannister's thoughts

He can be glad his character died. My lord would he be ashamed of the writing in Season 7 & 8..

He has class.

I bet his audition was like 30 seconds long. He just IS Tywin. I can't remember of another actor so perfect for their role.

Strange coincidence, but Charles Dance talks the same way as Jaime Lannister. NOT the same way as Nikolai Coster-Waldau, but as his portrayal of Jaime. He pitches his voice in the same place, it has that same sort of measured, calculated pace, and it kinda rises and falls in the same manner.

He's got an amazing voice. Also does Roose Bolton.

This guy has on of the very finest speaking voices I've ever heard.

He is a cool man indeed. I love what he says about "trying to make a silk purse out of a pigs ear" very classically put. In the north we would say "trying to polish a turd". Class systems and different accents make for some varied vocabulary in England. But anyway Charles Dance is boss! I can't think of a single person who could play Tywin Lannister better. He is perfect for the role and he is a brilliant actor.

A dying breed, amazing actor with a unique voice similar in quality to Ian mackellens and Christopher lees...could listen to any of them all day, legends of the earth and so pleased that I could be alive in their time to experience their mastery and finally so proud that they all come from England. Will be devastated when they become part of history, long may they yet live

Can't put my finger on it, but there's something about this man and his characters that commands instant attention and respect.

"Charles Dance its an honor to have you with us in the Throne Cast..." "RLY?" Silly interviewer, you're speaking to Lord Tywin Lannister, Lord of Casterly Rock and Warden of the West, and Hand of the King!

Charles Dance has such a creepy demeanor and commanding presence, cold and sophisticated.. so perfect for Tywin Lannister. Couldn't imagine anyone else playing him.

Charles looked like a skilled butcher in that scene

His and Arya's interaction for those episodes was pretty amazing, it's the only time we saw the kind side of his character.

Tywin, Tyrion, Cersei and Stannis were perfectly casted.

After seeing him playing the villain in most of his roles, it was a delight to actually see a smile in his eyes! Wonderful actor!

Charles Dance is so fucking great.

I like charles, he's just so proper and intelligent with the way he speaks. He just has gravitas with every word spoken.

We've lost Christopher Lee; we've lost a dear friend of his Peter Cushing. But we still have Charles Dance. Their presence, their charisma, and most importantly their voice truly make who they are.

No character stole the show in every scene they were in more than Charles Dance playing Tywin.

Charles Dance is such a timeless and talented actor, and the way he observes things and explains them is fantastic. I could listen to him talk all day.

Although Tywin from the books looks quite different to Charles Dance I still say he was absolutely perfect for the role I honestly don't think anyone else in the world could of done a better job. Every time Tywin was on screen I was mesmerised and hung on his every word so much so he became one of my favourite characters even though I am a hardcore stark supporter. Sean Bean done a brilliant job and again I can't imagine anyone else being Ned even though he looks different to his book counterpart but Charles Dance was just incredible!

Anyone noticed Charles spoke very much like Tywin does? No unnatural pauses, no stuttering - just...pure, commanding presence throughout!

If I ever bump into Charles Dance in person, I'm going to gush: "Oh my God! I've seen you before - you were the bad guy in Last Action Hero, right?!"

1:15 "because the writing is really good..." Well I'm somehow glad Tywin died before the later seasons, or his character would be incredibly dumbed down by the lack of source material.

A real gentleman , the good old school type of actor , quite educated , quite cool and humbled as a person , but able to be the real deal while acting and transform into Lannister , the boss , the man who knows better , i couldn't imagine any other actor better for the role , except perhaps for Anthony Hopkins !!!! The way he delivered made me believe he is indeed blue blooded , some aristocrat , he has that "aura" about him , not to mention that his clothes and armor looked awesome on him ! I think he was born for such roles !!!!

Tywin Lannister's got to be one of my favorite 'bad guy' characters in Game of Thrones. I use the quotation marks because, while I see him as, in a sense 'evil' he isn't evil in the same way as the Mountain is evil or Joffery was evil or Cersei. He's got moments where his character is actually very impressive; two of which in particular that I can think of are in Seasons 2 and 4. In season 2, his little moments with Arya where you get on the edge of your seat thinking that he is going to find out who she is, he gives off a kind of vibe while talking to her; a kind of vibe like a grandfather would give (if it weren't for the circumstances involved). The same went when he was talking with Tommen during Joffery's 'wake,' you can tell that despite his strange and rather dark principles he still has the best intentions in mind. Tywin Lannister's the kind of guy I'd want to have as a grandfather; the kind of guy who, whenever I'm around, is willing to be there to teach me things so long as I'm willing to listen to him. Gonna miss his character...

He describes his death 'quitte gothic' hahahaha! A movie with him, Patrick Stewart and Ian Mckellen!! Their class, their appearance, their voice!!

God, he's bloody perfect.

Lord Charles Dance, the most based man in the history of ever. The show won't be the same without him.

Honestly tywin was one of my favorite characters. He was the only sensible person on the show for a while. And he had principles. Wasnt a good guy but did what he had to do

The scene with Tywin skinning the deer is actually transferred from another character in the book. In the books it is Randall Tarly that is skinning a deer when he tells his son Sam that if he doesn’t go to the wall and take the black he will kill him. It works fantastically for the scene with Tywin and Jaime in the show though.

He's quite Polished man. Such a great Actor !!!

i must admit that arya and tywin conversation is indeed one of my favourite scene too!

He looks nothing like Tywin in the books from what I've heard, but on all other fronts he IS Tywin.

When i think of a great british actor i always think of Charles Dance. He speaks such a perfect victorian english that i feel like someon is pouring honey in my ear. I have seen a fe wof his movies and i have to say, even though he has short scenes, he makes those scenes pure gold! He was one of the best actors on GOT really.

I felt just as bad for his death as I did Ned Stark's.

That "wonderful scene" that Dance appreciates so much about is the encounter he had with Arya Stark at Harrenhal which the dialogue and acting of both actors were so good that you can rewatch over and over. what a great show!

What I love about Charles Dance is that he makes no illusions about his craft and gives credit where credit is due. He's always saying that he acts at face value, and the better the writing is, the easier it is for him to preform. He's an incredibly gifted actor, but never engages in some of the over self indulgence of other actors. He's a wonderful, talented, humble, and brilliant actor.

most interesting character in series so far (I just finished S2) its like every other member of the family barks and he is the only one bitting.

4:04: His American accent is hilarious. I'm just kidding, it's impeccable, he's so awesome. I mean for all I know he could be playing a Norwegian playing a Brit who's playing an American and he's just so good it wouldn't matter.

The scene between him and Arya, which was never in the books, is literally the only deviation from the book that is as clever and catchy as the books.

Gawd, I can just listen to Charles Dance speak all day. That accent, that liquid honey voice. LOVE HIM! 💕

Tywin is one of the best characters on the GoT universe...and Charles Dance is a great actor! His portrait of Tywin is just amazing

The scene where he is gutting a stag (damn, the symbolism!) is soo intense. He played it sooo well. Charles you are awesome. Loved you in Alien 3 and the golden child too. You are the only good thing about Alien 3 (and Sigourney Weaver of course)

This man interviews so well it's fantastic. And the wee spoiler he talks about with the scene between him and the female character (Arya) was a top scene, even though they never met in the book.

The show died with him. With the exception for season 6 ending.

This guy is a great actor!

It didn't maintain the initial quality of the book adaptation. The stag he skinned symbolized House Baratheon with their stag sigil.

He gave a brilliant performance as Tywin Lannister.

God I loved it when Lord Tywin defiantly strides into the Throne Room of the Red Keep on horseback. That was command presence.

Overall one of the Top 5 Best Actors on the show.
