Game Scoop! 756: Pandora's Xbox 

As a multi-console owner, mostly PC but also an Xbox I'm not a fan of Xbox potentially abandoning hardware and going multi-platform. That is an ecosystem with a large library that I've bought into that could potentially just disappear. Hundreds if not thousands of dollars of games and DLC only usable on an Xbox console that next generation in 5 years or so gets left behind. Sony isn't gonna allow a Xbox store front on their console, neither is Nintendo. Look at the Funimation/Cruncyroll debacle going on now. People made purchases on Funimation then Sony/Cruncyroll buys out Funimation and all the customers that made purchases on Funimation left holding the bag. Their storefront doesn't exists anymore and Crunchyroll/Sony isn't honoring any of those past purchases. Not to mention leaving Sony as the sole console market is awful for the consumer. Nintendo is its own thing and when Sony thinks they are on top that has historically been awful for customers.

The problem with xbox sharing games. People lost the incentive of buying xbox. Makes less xbox sales. Makes 3rd party devs, no longer support. Then xbox goes. The digital libraries goes with. No more patches to come since no more people buying the games. Its like Dreamcasts like the 90s.

Why is Daemon so sure Xbox will still be in the hardware business? There’s an opportunity cost with every business decision. If Xbox isn’t making hardware money, why not make more of a profit just selling software?

16:03 - They do lose. If the games turn out to sell more copies than people play on Gamepass then the question arises, why even bother putting it in gamepass since that is extra development dollars that could be spent optimizing the game on other platforms.

Game Pass is a fine value if you already own an Xbox. However by the time you buy the console and a year subscription that's like 620 dollars, and you could have bought 10 new games instead.

How could you not understand that Xbox owners get nothing from this deal, yet loose the reason people put down $600 dollars in the first place. We wont be able to play Playstation games. If you knew that the franchises you bought the XBox for was going to the PS5 nobody would have bought an XBox. That makes it a waste of money. Nobody likes there money wasted.

Lmao how are you guys are so uninformed. Microsoft didn’t become a 3 trillion company willing to prop up a losing ventures. Otherwise windows phone, zune. Mixer, etc would still be here. Console R&D costs billions and they lose $100-$200 on each console. How long will shareholders put up with that. Gamepass is not making them money, the opposite. Leaked court documents showed it has not met expectations and have stagnated.

While Microsoft is known for software, their gaming software such as Redfall, Starfield, and Forza Motorsport 2023 weren't the great games people were hoping for. The best thing about the Xbox Series X is the hardware itself, not the software. Will these games do well on another console? Unlikely.

Gamepass is great! On xbox and on PC, it will be great in every systems, regardless of consoles.

Most Xbox exclusive games have been bad lately. There’s no reason to buy that console, thus no reason to launch a new generation. They’re gonna go multiplatform in a similar way as Ubisoft or EA are doing.

Microsoft is known for being across all your home computing needs. They've made hardware for ever, and its not junk. Since 1982, to be precise.
