Sam's audio is painfully bad. As always, someone always had bad audio and no quality check whatsoever for such a long time now. Please fix it producers!
Justin is so right, Sony is always arrogant when they dominate the console space, only when Xbox gave them a run for their money with the 360 did they counter with the $399 PS4.
They should, they are competing against themselves at this point. The PS5 pro if anything makes the base PS5 and discless version look like a bargain now. The pro is only targeted at that 10% of its customer base that bought the PS4 pro. If scalpers don’t sell these out I’ll be getting one.
This was my favorite podcast for over a decade now. What do we, the listeners, have to do to to make it so Sam gets a new microphone? Do we need to start a Go Fund Me?
It's not Sam's microphone. Hybrid recording -- with some people in studio and some at home -- has been a challenge. We are aware and are actively working on solutions. - Daemon
When you have to pause and zoom into the background with an A/B comparison or wait for Digital Foundry to do it, you have to ask yourself... really? I'll take double the frame rate every time.
It has pssr so it doesn't need to have a better CPU smh please don't comment on things you clearly have no knowledge of tech please stick to console conversation not teck
@@The_Kaiju-X_Project PSSR, FSR, DLSS - all are used to reduce GPU-Load and not CPU-load. That is the entire idea behind it. Reduce pixelcount for internal calculation before scaling it up. That is why they are called upscalers.
@@angiwells6897 are you a literal child? With modern RT demands on CPU a bump in core count would definitely make sense. Digital Foundry already came out and said the Pro won't be enough to run GTA6 at 60fps which was the only game people claim to be getting this for. Grow up. And don't speak on technology. Your knowledge is subpar.
The PS5 Pro reveal was a disaster. Sony is completely out of touch. The price point was bad enough, but not having a disc drive was the nail in the coffin. I'm not sure who this was made for except the top 1% of PS diehards. Felt like a total misfire.
Should only be happy about it when it's warranted. Anyone can get anytime. Other companies make other companies look hood by constantly stepping on rakes
Regarding PS-pricing: It’s worth remembering that when Sony discontinued PS4 Pro, they raised the price of PS4 Slim up to what the Pro was, and it stayed at that level until the end. (At least in Europe)
thats not what he said. he said its *unlikely* and only *if* the regular ps5 is also unable to hit 60 which is a very big if. and even thEn its still just a prediction from a 3rd party while we still know almost nothing about gta at all and it probably wont come out for another 1+ years
The 990 EVO 2TB price just crashed; it's only $50 more than the 1TB at $130. And that's retail; Sony most have been getting this for a song for the past 4 years already. The price isn't the storage.
DF says the gpu is roughly equivalent to a 4070, which is over $500. as of your comment a 2TB ssd is $130. so what youre saying is for $70 extra bucks youre getting a free motherboard, cpu, ram, case, power supply, and a controller? sounds like a steal to me
There is no official definition of what a PS5 Pro enhanced game is. So we may see some devs offer a PS5 Pro fidelity mode. That is 30FPS and has even more ray tracing and graphical effects than the standard PS5 version. Devs are just going to offer what they think is cool and will help sell copies
There's like a 60-80$ difference between 1 and 2 TB SSD. Doesn't the 2 TB Xbox come with a disc drive in it? The price is unjustifiable from Sony's side. Plus, Sony actually had the right solution: Allow users to put their own M.2s in their console after purchase. It was a brilliant solution that helped keep the price down.
If you knew how much the GPU in the console costs you'd realise the price makes complete sense. People act like Sony are a charity who must subsidise their console.
Love this pod but the audio is consistently the worst of any podcast by a freakin' mile lol. Jesus. Between ultra hot mics, noise gates set way too high, blown out mics/horrible mic quality, it's just a smorgasbord of "my first podcast' tech issues
Ummm correction, 2030 may be when the next generation for Playstation is. The Xbox Next is allegedly launching 2026. That's why Xbox isn't doing a pro model.
Law of commerce: Find a consumer audience and make a product for their lifestyle and budget, don’t make a product and hope to find an audience that needs and can afford it.
The PlayStation 4 released using old Laptop hardware just like the switch did so the price can remain very low. This is why those consoles were so Under powered and the switch remains under powered. The PS5 while not being current was much closer to current standards Then the PlayStation 4. The PlayStation 5 pro is using Some technology that isn't even released yet by AMD. Just do a little bit of homework To see these things. The price is still very high and only for the enthusiast but it does look like Sony just refuses to take a big loss as their goal with this system.
I'm getting kinda sick with the comparisons with the PS3, oh it's similar because it's the similar price - no, it's not. With the PS3, Sony really spared no expense, threw everything in it and were losing about $200 per unit. It was cutting edge for the time, Blu-ray, Cell, practically a whole PS2 in it, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, HDMI...Sony now wants to charge more than that for a mid-gen refresh, ffs in 3 years the PS6 will come out
Wasn't that long ago that people were buying regular PS5's for $700-$1000 from scalpers on EBay. Now no one will spend $700 on a better machine. Hmmm. Everyone has also seemed to have forgotten that 1/2 (According to Playstaion) of the people on PSN are still using a PS4. Seems like the perfect time for those folks to up-up grade.
that was when people assumed new games were forthcoming. they are not the ps5 pro kept showcasing 4+ year old games . fool them once , shame on you , fool them twice, shame on them.
Assuming some meaningful percentage of PS5s owned by people buying the pro are sold to either Gamestop or on eBay or whatever, doesn't Sony somewhat cannibalize their own sales? And don't they lose money on hardware sales generally anyway? Do they even make money off of this?
Im not defending the price of the pro, specially because if this is the machine for the enthusiast, it should have the discdrive and the stand included but, at least this time, contrair to the launch of PS3, we have an option not to buy the pro and just get the normal PS5 that still is a high power machine and you will play all games with not that less grafics performance.
How many of us watched the Apple event the day before the PS5 Pro reveal event? I’m an Apple fan, but wasn’t impressed by this year’s Ultra watch’s big upgrade being a different color, or the AirPod Pro getting hearing aid support. That’s a bit reductive but making the point that turning around to have this PS5.5 be so expensive with very little to show for it the next day affected my reaction. Anyone else?
Do y'all think the first couple of rounds of the refurbished PS5s from Sony are ones that scalpers bought and returned? Regardless of whether it is or not, a $400 entry point to the PS5 ecosystem is pretty enticing. Also, do y'all think with the PS5 Pro coming out this year that next year we will see more Sony games that are PS5/PC only and no longer PS4? If so, then yeah, the refurbished one from Sony gets even more enticing.
Regarding the SSD: false , prices to produce between 1 TB and 2 TB are nothing, and nowadays ps5 ssd equivalents are avaiable on tge market so its easy to check those prices.
Nintendo knows not to move technology forward, not to make new ips, and to always have 3rd party games not bring their major games to their platform. Nintendo is great, but there are definite cons.
Typically when a business is launching new technology products, they will build and price to a specific target profit margin per unit. PS5 Pro will sit higher on the profit margin curve than PS5 due to the price insensitivity of the enthusiast customers it's targeted to. Not sure why this is generating so much discussion online -- if you think it's too expensive, you're not the customer.
We are missing bigger pic. Games make console valued . Moment Sony shows games runs better on pro. Ppl will go crazy . Point is they won’t as majority base is on ps5
We did a survey of how many players chose performance mode vs fidelity mode, and it turns out you were choosing the wrong one, so we took the choice away in the PS5 Pro! Next time, let’s all do better. Sony isn’t angry, they’re just disappointed.
