Still shooting my 53 year old Savage Fox Model B side by side for doves and crows here in Maryland. 12 Gauge with 28 inch barrels with fixed modified and full chokes. I paid $170 for it in 1970 when I was sixteen. Still my favorite gun for small game. Nothing points like a side by side.
I have brought a William Powell SxS for this season. Birmingham made in 1900 I can’t wait for my first shoot day 28th October. To get used to it I shoot a few clays with it on a Saturday and have a sim day booked mid Oct.
SxS’s are awesome for hunting! I have a couple of 26” light weights in 12ga that I’ve used on everything from Geese, duck, pheasant, chukar, snipe, woodcock, cottontail rabbit and even snowshoe rabbits.
I think game shooting has come to an end, I enjoyed 2 decades of game, but the price and reality of the situation means I have to stop. Simulated game is the future. You are I’m afraid, frankly, not in touch with what’s happening.
