You can't say that Pewdiepie has not changed. I remember when he was around 1 million subs and i was enjoying his interesting content, such as his happy wheels videos ect. Now all he does is play awful games that the fan base makes him play and he has gotten weird and un entertaining. I'm still subscribed to him for the occasionally video where he has not gone completely insane, but i feel as if the content he produces are for 11 year olds now (You may now shit all over my opinion and I know there are grammatical errors)
Pewdiepie has changed so much over the years it's unbelievable. I was never one of the original subs, as I discovered him right around like... 5 million subscribers - mostly because of Amnesia. But yeah, his old stuff was pretty funny. Now I feel like he barely tries with his videos. I miss an actual playthrough, not whatever it is he uploads daily. I don't keep up with him, but the last full gameplay I remember is The Last of Us - and that was a long time ago.

When you make an account, a list of recommended "starting channels" will be selected, if you click continue, you will be subscribed to all those people, and pewdiepie is on that list almost every time, and the more people that get auto-subbed, the more his name shows up.

Qornatio It takes less than a minute to register a new google account. You log out, pump in a username/password, beat the captcha, and you're set. It only takes time if you actually want to upload profile pictures and link your Picasa account and stuff like that.
I don't understand why people care about how much money he makes, I'm pretty sure he doesn't. The videos he make are for fun and for us, the viewers ,and not for his own personal gain. He started his channel to share his experiences with others, not to be famous. Isn't that why all the other youtubers do it too? They entertain us and that's what RU-vid's job is. If we could all just stop and think about the bigger picture, then maybe we could all see ourselves as the smaller ones building and being a part of it too.
If I were a guy from RU-vid, I would actually base the algorithm on the view/like and the view/dislike quota instead of the view time in one session. This would basically erase such perpetual cycles and thus would give smaller channels a chance to get promoted too.
RU-vid doesnt care if small channels get attention, they just care for people watching as many "stuff" as possible to put advertisment in. That works best for the mainstream stuff that millions of people watch. The very small viewer count is actual more a side-product, but doesnt give the real cash (its also much harder to give appropiate ads for small channels, much easier if you have a bunch of very big channels and know exactly what kind of people watch).
It would be kind of unfair though, some people for example posts news about a man who raped a woman, wich is so people know things that happen around the world...¿what do people do?, they dislike the video. Not because it´s a bad video or it is not what they were hoping for, but because they don't like a man raping a woman.

I'll admit, I came from Pew's latest video too, but the number of people just coming over there to spam "delete this video" here is pretty damn absurd. Yeah, personally I did agree with Pewdiepie, but even if he said he rather Matpat delete it, that absolutely does not mean he's telling you to spam him to delete it. I don't even think Pewdiepie himself would approve of this action as it's plainly rude and extremely toxic. Personally, I don't see the use of deleting the content (since Pewdiepie already debunked it) other than the media using this to give Pewds a bad rep. Added to that, I have watched Matpat's previous videos (though I don't really anymore) on this channel and he is a nice guy (I'm sure of it) so I don't think this video had the intention of trying to take down Pewdiepie or something along the lines of that; only the intentions of explaining why he got famous albeit he is wrong. This was genius dude. You explained it perfectly. I'm going to create a gaming channel in the next year when my current channel gains more publicity. It totally makes sense why it's easier to rise to the top when you're a gamer. At the same time though.... there are SO MANY channels already doing the gaming videos, which makes it harder to get noticed. That's why I'm trying to have an audience before I start.
Many people watching YT videos for long periods of time are relatively young because they have more free time, and PewDie uses profanity which entertains those younger people. I'm fourteen and, though I don't like Pewds (he's too loud .-.) , I'll admit that profanity amuses me too, with penguinz0 being my favourite tuber. I'll even occasionally have a marathon, and with Pewds being so popular and people doing the same as me, he gets promoted more and more. I find it unfortunate, though, that smaller non gaming channels can't be in the spotlight, despite having to put more effort in their videos.
Usually popular tubers are older (in their twenties generally) so that's going to bring your cousin's channel's subs. I did watch two videos, but we don't really have the same sense of humour. I have a rather strange one.. o-o

Pewdiepie is a clear example of the issues that come with capitalism and a free market economy. Why does playing video games while screaming at a camera, making inappropriate jokes and showing homosexual behavior get rewarded with millions of dollars where your average pleb who exerts hard physical labor and/or has a downright depressing job gets less than one percent of that?
When you think about it. Why should you be rewarded when you sit there, and yes doing hard work, but does it ever actually affect anyone emotionally and physically? The changes you make while hard at work in an office may do some effect, and it may even do a lot, but you are affecting people indirectly. Pewdiepie however effects a lot of younger kids who are sad with their life, and maybe some who just want something new and funny. This results in him getting more of everything, and people who effect others indirectly, less. it is people who want to get noticed and do get noticed more that get more. In my opinion anyway.

At first I thought he was annoying as hell but then after watching a game he played I was actually hooked and thought he was entertaining. Then I think to if you enjoy what you do then you never work a day in your life. I think he has a nice life but if you think about it he spends hours to make others happy which can affect ones life, I remember he mentioned it in a video once. I wouldn't let another's life bother you so much, everyone makes a choice in what they do. :)

My observations lead me to believe that the vast majority of PewDiePie's viewers are pubescent girls and boys. I theorize his popularity is due to roughly similar reasons that Justin Beiber is popular. That's not to compare him to Beiber, he is a vastly superior human being to Beiber (which in turn perhaps helps him be popular even more). Just the reasons.
Doubt it. Most of the people he's met that are fans are usually above 20+. I'm not saying you're wrong, but I'm saying that there's no real evidence of his fans being mostly "kids".
TimpsterTheDude That might be true, but you'll have to notice that long time fans might no longer be teens even though they started watching him when they were. So it might be that teens used to be 90% of his fanbase, but not anymore due to them growing up. And even though his videos aren't exactly "child friendly", they also watch him.
Backon Lazer Well, he's only been active on RU-vid since early 2011, so I doubt that people will have changed from kid to adult in 3 years, & even if that's the case, they would still be like 15-18 years old when they first started watching him. For me however, your theory is correct. I started watching PewDiePie when he was at 1000+ subscribers, June/July 2011. I was 13 years old then. So yeah, alot of people where early teens when they first started to watch his videos.
***** It's so weird to hear people talking about "how bad his fans are," I still have yet to see any number of them acting in a coordinated "YOU DOUST OFFEND THE PEWDS" sort of way, though maybe I'm just used to the high saliency of the bronies who swept in and were suddenly everywhere, being... well... hard to miss! I'm guessing that his fans could be annoying whenever they reflect common human social dynamics that lead to being annoying XD unless there is some particular subset of people who watch pewdiepie - who, being of a particular personality, do something both obnoxious & idiosyncratic.

Vanguard well if you watch other channels like Toby or some others you may find a comment or 2 talking smack about that person and saying pewdie is like god and all that. its kinda sad..i like pewds for his scare game play and i like Toby for his voices and the way he acts. SOME people even say Toby is "immature" and i'm like ummm look at some of the top youtubers like Smosh and well pewdie. i mean really? people love that. ahhh idk how this world works

I just like his videos and like the way he talks, the way he presents himself, the way he makes his fans laugh, the way he makes fun of himself to please the fans, that's all. I have no idea what the fuck is wrong with you haters, you can't accept it because the man you don't like gets popular among other people who are not 'you' ?
